Ron Paul supporters, who are you guys?

A similar thread was originally started by MashTheGas but I guess it was lost with the server crash. It lasted a few weeks with a few hundred responses.

Who are you guys?

How old are you?
Where are you from?
What do you do?
What’s your political history?
What brought you to Ron Paul?

Answer as much or as little as you want. It's great to see what an eclectic group supports Ron Paul.

I am in early 50's and am a delegate in the Minnesota Repub

party.

I plugged my nose and dove in during caucus 2008. If it wasn't for Dr. Paul I don't think I could ever be involved. It's hard to mix with those calling themselves 'Republicans', yet they consistently violate our Republic and the sovereign rights of their neighbors, like wanting to ban abortion and supporting our troops in illegal invasions, murder and mayhem of other sovereign peoples.

I have not missed one convention. I am involved in my local HD Repub executive.

I intend to stay and do the dirty work of attempting to be a voice for that which is 'Liberty' and soundness in all things.

I know this is a contentious

I know this is a contentious issue, but Ron Paul wants to protect life. The role of the Federal Gov is to protect life.

How old are you?-22Where

How old are you?

-22

Where are you from?

-Ravens Country. Patriots' refs suck!

What do you do?

-Non-profit work, law school next year.

What’s your political history?

-Anti-Iraq war neocon (lol) to Constitutionalist Libertarian.

I loved war in general but the Iraq war just seemed irrational to me. I was still a social conservative, but Ron Paul showed me that you cant have it both ways. I am still a nationalist when it comes to our Constitution, so I still call myself a Conservative when talking to Republicans (and a libertarian when talking to Democrats).

What brought you to Ron Paul?

-Was looking for someone to vote for in the election, saw that Ron Paul had won the Maryland straw poll(who says those things dont matter?), looked into him on youtube and was hooked.

Political history: Every since I was a child I could sense something was not right with our country and world. However, I did not understand intellectually how things are, simply by intuition or feeling as if something wasn't "right". I started off passionately studying end time bible prophecy, the NWO, and the occult in the 8th grade up until about 10th grade. Was not interested in politics from then on. The summer leading up to the beginning of college I heard Kevin Trudeau on a radio interview. The interview and content was fascinating and struck a cord with me. I later bought his book that summer and it lead me on my continual search. From then on I started to read anything I could find on the internet. I started off by reading nearly every "conspiracy theory" out there. I took several several classes from a nice, intelligent, and well intentioned Marxist. I was leaning towards the Marxist philosophy up until about 2 years ago. I started to read anything I could find from the Austrian school of economics as well as history on communism and fascism. And have continued to read books of multiple subjects, fields, etc. "A truly well rounded person" Not the well rounded students they say they are creating.

What brought you to Ron Paul?
Thirst for "truth". I had learned a little bit about our banking system and that led me to Ron. Alex Jones also lead me to Ron.
I Registered Republican a couple of months before the Republican convention to vote for Ron.

Still learning new things everyday as well as questioning everything everyday. I appreciate the experience of being exposed to several political parties, ideas, and philosophies.

Who are you?

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

almost 60
have lived all over the world/country

Ron Paul was the only presidential candidate who impressed me in 1988, and I've been watching him since--

I was a silent and sad Viet Nam war 'disbeliever' in my teens--
It was hard for me to see my schoolmates come home in body bags . . .--hard to see how they were treated when they came home alive, hard to see the hypocrisy--that was probably the catalyst for me, the Viet Nam "war"--the Viet Nam "tragedy"--
I began even then to distrust political leaders and the media--in the 60s--but I wasn't a 'hippie', so I had 'nowhere to go'--

I have been 'inspired' by the young people I see protesting the war in Iraq, especially the veterans--
I would be pleased if the young people in *my* life cared more, but they don't--yet. At least, because of me, they don't trust parties, but I wish they cared more about the constitution. They do think Ron Paul is 'cool'--

Besides being informed by the truth, my revolution is gardening; my revolution is the simple life.

My spouse is the first person who introduced me to the constitution, but I "woke up" before my spouse--
--'waking up' was a very difficult thing; for me it was traumatic--it involved a complete paradigm change, a complete world view re-organization--
I had to rethink my religion, etc., but I remain firmly Christian--
In fact, I think I have become more solidly Christian since I 'woke up'--

I am....

1. How old are you?
-I am 22

2. Where are you from?
-From Northern Virginia.

3. What do you do?
-Just graduated from Va Tech with a degree in Finance. Just got my first job at Freddie Mac (I know, I know).

4. What’s your political history?
- Libertarian in every sense of the word. I had no idea who or what to believe in government because of our corporately owned media. That all changed when I found Ron Paul and started to get all my information from the internet. I want to get my masters and then run for the House of Reps at some point (30's) so I can get all of Ron Paul's old bills to pass.

5. What brought you to Ron Paul?
-His stance on our foreign policy, his stance on The Drug War, his stance on the Federal Income Tax, his stance on The Patriot Act, his stance on the FISA Act, his voting record, The Revolution: A Manifesto, etc.

i learned at an early age NOT to depend on government. i am currently a registered democrat, who has never voted for a democrat, that wrote in Ron Paul on my last ballot. i voted for Ross Perot when he ran for the "Libertarian Party". i was too young to vote for the last real candidate. i considered that to be JFK, and we all know what happened to him. Right?
the thing that brought me to Ron Paul, initially, was the fact that he wanted to do away with the IRS.and my involvement with the computer and the Internet has expanded my knowledge immensely.
I sincerely hope that Ron Paul runs again in 2012. He has my vote.

I have always hated politics and kept a blind eye. I became a little more concerned after I started watching alex Jones documentaries on the FED and I began watching some of the debates. I had no idea who Ron Paul was when I watched the debate where he made Guiliani look like a fool, but that's when he reeled me in. His views pretty much were right inline with mine and I've been addicted ever since. To that point I thought all the politicians were complete scum, but now there's at least 1 who's got it right.

However that can be a bad thing. now I follow this several times per day, follow alex, watch all of schiff, keiser, celente, rogers, etc... Takes up a lot of time.

What’s your political history?

What brought you to Ron Paul?
A man in politics that stands firmly on the principle of giving all people the ability to stand on their own merits - succeed or fail as they should. His consistency is remarkable, his libertarian leanings appeal to the sense of reason and fairness in most people. He is the only politician I have come across that fights for the rights of all individuals at that expense of the bureaucracy to which he belongs.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Paul ;-)

NPR: Who Are Ron Paul's Supporters? | Dec 2007

Greetings, Ron Paul fans. You've been an incredibly civil, thoughtful, well-spoken and engaged crowd. Thing is, you're also an incredible crowd -- so much so that we can't keep up with turning on all your comments. As of 8:10 or so a.m. Eastern, we're going to turn off commenting on this thread. If time permits, we'll circle back and post comments that were filed earlier.

And we do hope you'll keep hanging around the Bryant Park Project. You've become part of the show, and we'd really miss you.

What’s your political history?
I don't believe in any one single party. I think, people are foolish to take such a general stand. Parties keep changing their principles to suit the current times, and in order to get elected. It's the principles that are important. And, more or less you'll find that there are a very few politicians who won't change their stand on important issues like the weather. Unfortunately, the majority is blinded to notice the right candidate, and will more often than not elect a candidate that's being promoted by the media.

What brought you to Ron Paul?
He genuinely cares for the people of this country. And, he is not afraid to speak the truth even in face of opposition, ridicule and abuse.

Reagan voter during my military service period. I attribute him the most for turning a demoralized, ill-equipped military into a fighting force without equal.
Concerns about international trade agreements destroying our manufacturing base and fiscal irresponsibility in Washington DC led me towards Ross Perot's presidental campaign and his United We Stand third party movement.
Went back to the GOP during the 2000 and 2004 elections
Most recently voted for Obama primairly due to his pledge to remove lobbyist hands from the reigns of power. I have since come to regret that decision.

24 year old soon to be graduating law student from St. Petersburg, FL. After a lifetime of exposure to the indoctrination of public schooling, I took a course on Marx in my junior year at FSU. Consequently, I thought Communism was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I started doing a lot of independent research on the subject and it didn't take long to figure out that I had been duped. Shortly thereafter, I discovered Ron Paul. Ironically enough, I was introduced to the good doctor on the bodybuilding.com boards.

Have always felt like there was something wrong with this country. I thought i was a radical for my beliefs until i heard Ron Paul. He espouses almost everything i believe and because of him i am going to become a attorney and run for higher office.

His common sense and straight talk. He is honest and true to who he is. Doesnt bring the baggage of everyone else and i feel as though i can trust him.

Hailing from the great tax

Hailing from the great tax state of Massachusetts has really made me cynical to our government. There is never any cutting within our state government and our politicians are ruled by the unions.

How do i know?

- a 25% increase in sales tax that goes into place tomorrow. from 5% to 6.25%.

- a $.19 a gallon gas tax that is on the horizon.

- A house speaker that has been indicted for taking a bribe for a a software contract.

- Several house reps and senators caught taking bribes by the FBI this year.

- we pay a 6% income tax and a 2.3% excise tax.

It is basically horrible. Our state is a shit hole where they just tax tax tax and nothing ever gets done. EVER.

ouch

and i thought it was bad when Wisconsin put a 1dollar tax on beer.....

i mean come on its Wisconsin you cant put more tax on beer thats unethical.

-What’s your political history? Was a misled blinded Moderate until I had my eyes opened and some of the truth let out.

-What brought you to Ron Paul? I was on a training mission in South Korea and started talking to a fellow Marine about politics. He let me in on Ron Paul. I did a bit of research and just the fact that he above all others told the truth sold me. I then read into his policies and read his book. I was sold! A politician who followed the Constitution (which I swore to defend from all enemies Foreign and DOMESTIC) and he was truthful. I have not seen that in my young age.

Upon my End of Active Service from the Military I plan on going to school and then possibly pursuing a career in politics leading to US Congress or Governor of Wisconsin.
