My husband and I are 55 and 57.
We are currently living in the Seattle area, but are originally from Las Vegas.
I’m a paralegal and he is a casino pit boss.
Being from Nevada, we leaned libertarian/independent politically.
I’ve been a Ron Paul admirer for years. As a libertarian, I’ve been listening to his message for a long time.

What do you do? Eye Doctor and Songwriter/Musician
What’s your political history? Apathy, occasional vomiting
What brought you to Ron Paul? Kept seeing bed sheets hanging over the freeway and bumper stickers saying "Ron Paul Revolution" and finally did and internet search. Exceeded my expectations by light years, cured my apathy, and finally gave my frustration a voice and my passion for freedom somewhere to go.

Political history? Many years of cynicism and distrust of politicians, voted only occasionally, supported Ross Perot (though I was only 14). Basically, couldn't have cared less...always resented paying taxes.
In 2006, I read Atlas Shrugged...it helped put a face on what really bothered me about politicians. May of 2007, I read on cnn.com that this congressman was raising eyebrows and money, and have been a fan ever since.
Hey Man.
Are you going to be at the Ron Paul event this weekend?
I am right outside of Louisville and will be attending myself.

Probably not
I'm a dedicated recluse normally, and i've got a little baby to take care of, and a honey-do list I've been ignoring for weeks.
Do you have some info on the event?

Wow, Atlas Shrugged was the beginning of my journey as well. Read it for the first time about 8 years ago and suddenly I could see the nightmare coming true. Funny how powerful ideas are, huh?

It's an amazing book
Luckily I was laid over at DTW airport, luckily I had just been reading about Ayn Rand that morning, and luckily, I was living in a hotel for the next 2 months with nothing to do. My copy is now almost worn out, as at least 5 others have read it entirely (funny, no one read only part of it).
Everyone in the free world should own a copy of this book. It's by no means an easy read, but it will change the way you look at the world. For those without countless hours, her book "Anthem" shouldn't take more than a few hours, and is a great one as well.

Who I Am
I go by Specialist nowdays. 25 years old. Angola, Indiana born and raised. Joined United States Army June 2005. Served 15 months at Camp Taji Iraq. It is the best thing I have done in my life.
I first heard of Ron Paul in Iraq, watching the debates on TV. I have always been a political junkie. Wrote-in Nader 2004 in Indiana, rest of the races down the ballot I voted Libertarian.
Being young and a soldier, many people want to speak for me and pander to my interests. My basic belief, which Dr. Paul champions, is that the Federal government is to large and does more harm than good. Very simple. My $100 a month would be better spent by me. A rich mans $100,000 a month would be spent better by him.
All I hear from other politicians are promises on how they are going my improve my life from Washington. Before I joined the Army, I never recieved a single dollar from the government. My reason for joining, to get my tax money back and see first hand this war. I have done both.
I am going to the Texas Republican convention as an elected delegate. Win or lose, Dr. Paul has changed my life for the better. He is the best of both parties. He is an American hero, no matter what party you are from.
Thank you for your service to our country
It equates to sacrifice of your liberty. Those who have not sacrificed for liberty, may never know all of its blessings.

Yes tajitj I am in awe of your story and it gave me goose bumps to read it. Dr Paul has made my life better by taking the time to listen to young people like yourself TRULY fighting for liberation. Before Dr Paul I always thought all young men in the military sad little sheeple. Sheeple can be everywhere but it's the heroes I get my energy from. Thank you for sharing.

I am registered independent because I am tired of the awful candidates that the Democrats and Republicans foist upon the public. I wish more people would realize that the Democrats and Republicans are only two shades of the same corrupt, bloated entity that has long forgotten about the average American citizen.
Despite my low opinion of the major party, I stand by Ron Paul because he is the only politician I will ever see in my lifetime who truly represents my political views.

I believe the truth and the truthers are my friends. I believe in humanity now more than ever. In great part due to ron paul, crazy ron paul supporters reminded me that you all are not sheep.
To see and feel your presence gives me strength to take the constant complaints from people about my ron paul buttons and bumper stickers. (i give them out to people, stocked up when i worked at the RP HQ in NH)

Take your money out of the SYSTEM! Leave just enough money in to take care of immediate busness and put in more just when needed. Pay cash most of the time. They do not pay enough interest on your money anyway.
If the system fails we have a better chance at some real change. I have taken a couple of 100 thousand out of the system. No stocks no bank accounts. HIT THEM WHERE IT HURTS!

Your thoughts?
I wonder why so many Ron Paul supporters are in the technology industry. It's not like Ron Paul goes out of his way to say anything in support of the field. In fact, many Ron Paul supporters disagree with him on net neutrality. Any ideas?
Many do?
It seems to me that most supporters see through that back-door attempt at regulating the internets.
Maybe you meant to say 'ignorant young adults' disagree with him...???

I know a thing or two about telecom and programming. While it'd be difficult to filter traffic and allocate bandwidth based on actual content (not just by port useage or IP) and do it in a manner that wouldn't signifigantly degrade the end users QOS, I don't see it as impossible.
Easy...
Ron Paul picks up the smart people vote. If you can do basic math and really look at our economy, you HAVE to be a Ron Paul supporter..lol.
Also, the internet is where you can find him, not the MSM.

That sums it up so well! I was trying (but not really succeeding) to say exactly this in another thread earlier today, with the poster "Sonny" who decried all of us for spreading "doom and gloom" and who firmly stated his belief that all will be well, the "minor financial crisis" would soon blow over, etc. etc. I hated to (but was tempted to) jump down his throat and call him a troll or shill, but honestly, I can't see how almost anyone can be open-minded enough to support Ron Paul and yet be so blind to the economic chaos all around us.
only candidate

What do you do? I'm a writer.
What’s your political history? I started out as a mainstream democrat (like my parents), I grew into a hardcore socialist, then I discovered Mike Gravel which led me to Ron Paul. Now I'm a right leaning libertarian.
What brought you to Ron Paul? I was interested in Mike Gravel and kept seeing Kucinich Paul Gravel tags everywhere online. Then I saw him on the PBS debate, totally hated him. But he made me curious so I looked up videos of him on youtube. I decided not to support Mike Gravel any more after he made his third youtube ad for himself. I realized that no one who took their candidacy seriously would make those videos, so I started to sway towards Ron Paul instead. I am not an anarchist, a conspiracy theorist or a 9/11 truther. I hated from Freedom to Facism.
