How Can We Stop Senate Bill 1959?
Author Steven Yates has written an insightful article about what it will mean if S. 1959 passes:
Be sure to read part 1 and then click on and read part 2.
It sounds to me like we need to stop this now and not wait for the commission to make legislative recommendations before attacking it. What do you guys think?

Snail Mail
I agree that an e-mail is much easier, far less time consuming and doesn't cost anything. However, easy isn't always better.
Call the offices of your local, state & federal representatives and ask them what type of correspondence gets the most attention.

The Greatest Obstacle
is that the MSM has had a total blackout on the House's passage of HR 1955 on Oct. 23rd. Do a search at any major newspaper & the major television stations, including cable. I have found a few comments in blogs at a couple of television sites, but that's about it.
For example, at the Washington Post you get:
"No Results Found"

No matches found on search for: hr 1955
No matches found on search for: violent radicalization
404 members of the House voted for this "thought crime" Bill. The ACLU is working with members of the Senate to amend the language. They specifically refer to the regulation of thoughts. I don't expect the ACLU to make much headway with the Senate. We have been bombarded with so much fear-mongering 24/7 for so long, members of Congress are too afraid of being labeled unpatriotic if they don't vote for legislation like this.
RP did not cast a vote on HR 1955.

It is time to flood Keith Olbermann, Lou Dobbs, Jack Cafferty, and anyone else speaking out of the real issues the rest of the MSM ignores, with e-mails urging them to speak out about this Legislation. I already have.

It seems the best way to do so
is to contact your Senators and House members from your state. I have enjoyed reading all of the posts on this site for some time now. There are many creative and talented writers in these forums.
It would be nice if one of these individuals could draft up document that we can all send out to our representatives.
I know I would be willing to do so here in Florida. Maybe an overwhelming flood of email/snail mail would get our gov talking amongst themselves ....
Just a thought ...
Snail Mail Works Best
Politicians pay far more attention to "snail mail" that they do to e-mails generated on the Internet. I campaigned for my State Rep. last year and he confirmed I am right about this.
Second best to "snail mail" are faxes.
Agree
email us too easy.... and free... All one has to do is go to a computer store, internet cafe, library, etc, sign upfor a yahoo account an email....
Snail mail you have to go to the P O and buy stamps.
Florida Senators
I've already contacted my worthless, do-nothing Senators Martinez & Nelson about HR 1955/S 1959 and many other issues. Whenever I do get a response, it is nothing but a boiler-plate letter that doesn't come close to responding to the issue(s) I raised.
I've been writing to both of them about widespread corruption in the stock market for almost three years now. They are still saying Regulation SHO is working. Well it is definitely not working. In fact, the corruption has gotten worse. The SEC has been making feeble attempts to amend Reg SHO, but those amendments still allow a wide range of loopholes for hedge funds and the prime broker dealers.
