Updated! Quiltingsando's Liberty Symbol Now Available

Quiltingsando's liberty symbol is now available, and she's been busy at her Zazzle store making stuff with it (be sure to click on View all Products at the bottom to see everything that is there.

For background on the symbol, see this thread on the DP. Quilting is donating the profits from any sales to our liberty candidates.

Thanks to Mike Lawson for taking the original symbol and converting it into a vector graphic. I did a few minor tweaks and added the text at Quilting's request. The font used is Rosewood (fill). Quilting says anyone is free to use the symbol, as long as it is used to embody the Ron Paul message.

She continues, "I think Dr. Paul has the best message out there and I hope my efforts will be helpful. I have been trying to use both symbols and I figure let the people look and use them as they see helpful. Not sure if people will be receptive to the symbol but I must say this has been a very interesting and exciting experience for me. Working on the products has been fun for me and a break from all the bad news."

Click on the symbols to download hi-resolution .eps files of the symbol. Fonts have been converted to outlines. They're big files - about 3M each, and can be opened with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.

can't help but think of the Michael Jordan commercial when I saw the shoes. It's not the shoes, it's freedom. Those are some pretty cool shoes though. I cannot tell if they are unisex or not. If so, I will have to get some, amongst a few other things once you correct the latin. Great work!!!!

I believe that is true. I don't know computers, or finance, or Latin (hee,hee) so where I fall short in knowledge someone else picks it up and moves it forward. I think it is like a long distance relay race, Dr. Paul started the run with his message and he has passed that message on to each of us. Our duty has just begun and some of us are a little rusty when it comes to running. LOL

Another suggestion, besides the regular tote bag, what about some cheaper alternatives like the grocery type reusables? Not as heavy, inexpensive, and easier to buy in bulk. If you did something like that, for say, $4 each (4 times as much as garden variety grocery totes) I'd still buy 10 or so.

My interpretation of Quilt's symbol

The wide vertical bar in the center of the tree represents the natural rights of mankind. Among these rights (but not exhaustively enumerated) are life, property, privacy, self-defense, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It's oriented vertically and capped by arrows above and below to symbolize the timelessness of these rights. The natural rights extend from the indeterminate past to the infinite future. The thickness of the line denotes it's significance as the pillar of civilization.

The ground level denotes the present moment. Besides marking the distinction between the past (below ground) and the present moment, it also marks the dividing line between animals who live upon the earth and humans who live in houses and communities (in the tree of civilization).

The heavy kinked lines with arrows on each end represent the laws made by man. In the past (below ground level) these laws grew outwards an angle from the natural rights. This means the body of law was continually expanded as time went along. In the idealized liberty of today symbolized by Quilt's tree, the laws extend perpendicular to the natural rights of mankind to represent limited governance. As time goes by the scope of the body of law doesn't expand beyond what is necessary to ensure the natural rights are preserved.

The lines without arrows represent the people. We live our lives enclosed by the laws which bind us together. The growth in the health and prosperity of the people are represented by the angle away from the vertical bar of the natural rights. Below ground level, in the past, growth was forced to flourish between the body of law which was itself growing over time. When laws are limited the people flourish much more and grow at more acute angles away the trunk.

The trunk of the tree denotes the people living in harmony with laws which themselves are in harmony with the natural laws. Upon this solid trunk of righteousness the leaves (people) can spread out and grow.

The two smaller lines at the top of the tree which grow directly from the central bar of the natural rights are symbols of liberty fulfilled. They are the children of the future.

This is according to my less-than-perfect HS Latin knowledge, but nonetheless, it should be investigated... We don't want bad Latin printed on all kinds of memorabilia that symbolizes us.
