"There can be only one permanent revolution - a moral one: The regeneration of the inner man."
—Tolstoy

A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take away everything you have. ~ Thomas Jefferson

My math might be off, I just roughed in some states

but I do believe Idaho had the best turnout.
:)

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

What was the turnout in Id.?

What polling place were you working at?

Waste of time and resources

Until the States call for an Article 5 Convention or the State Governments choose delegates for a Constitutional Convention, you might as well be attending a girl scout meeting. It has just as much authority. This Continental Congress may be a fun exercise in patriotism but carries no weight or authority from anyone or any thing. It is little more than a parlor exercise. A better use of time (unless you are simply a hobbyist) is State involvement. Making sure you elect people locally who will uses their ACTUAL Authority to protect it's citizens from the expansion of the Federal Government. Sorry to drop a little reality onto this thread...

I don't think you have your facts straight. You are speaking

from your perception of this rather than fully understanding how this is a formal redress from the people of their government to set the record straight. This option was granted both in the Declaration and our Constitution. Importantly it creates a public record for the whole world to see. It will require a formal response from government. We will see how they respond.

The last time we ever had a Continental Congress was 1775 when the colonies redressed the King for all their grievances. It resulted in a Declaration of Independence followed by Articles of Confederation for about 10 years until 1787 when they formalized the Constitution.

A waste of time?

Do you expect any plans to make drastic changes to be acknowledged by the system? Are you under the impression this was something put together in a couple months? This has been in the works for 10+ years. Are you even familiar with what Bob has been doing the past 10+ years? Do you realize all other options have been exhausted? Go back and read through archives: http://www.givemeliberty.org/spotlights/archive/Archive1.htm

I think you will gain a new respect for the efforts of the people involved in this group.

You all are shooting Blanks!

Section 10 - Powers prohibited of States

No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

So sec 10 reads concerning contrasts:

"No State shall... pass any... Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts,..."

Therefore, Contract law is the supreme law of the land, and as long as you remain a 14th amendment citizen you are under contract law. This contract law is not fully contained in this amendment but in a host of laws and regulation concerning the 14th amendment. One of the corporate regulations is that you can not avail yourself to the rights of a citizen of the states because you are a 14th amendment citizen not a citizen of the state and you don't even have the right to complain about it. You have privileges not rights.

Conclusion: As long as the 14th amendment status remains no change will come to this nation.

They aren't ignoring the Constitution they are vary much following it. Its you people that are ignoring it by remaining 14th amendment citizens.

The 14th amendment may not be valid

Check out what Dr. Thomas Woods said in The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History (Regnery Publishing, 2004) about the 14th amendment not being lawfully ratified: http://bit.ly/1kU91G (link to Google Books).

See also http://www.constitution.org/14ll/no14th.htm and http://www.constitution.org/14ll/truth_14th.htm

14th or not you still can't get by Obligation of Contracts!!

14th amendment or not you still can't get by Obligation of Contracts!!

So sec 10 reads concerning contrasts:

"No State shall... pass any... Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts,..."

Even if I'm full of shit with the 14th, this is how they are screwing us. With our permission, in the Obligation of Contracts.

Amendment 13 - Slavery Abolished. Ratified 12/6/1865. History

1. "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude,...."

Well you can "voluntary". It is a trap that most people are unwilling to get out of if they don't understand the whole picture. The biggest reason they don't want out is the benefits that come with being a voluntary slave.

STOP SIGNING YOUR NAME TO ANY THING THAT MAKES YOU OBLIGATED AS A SLAVE.

Contracts

The clause says that states cannot impair contracts; that doesn't necessarily mean that the feds have the power to enforce contracts (with the possible exception of when a state does pass a law impairing contracts). The clause is a state restriction more than a federal enumeration of power. Contract law doesn't somehow authorize all of the blatantly unconstitutional things that the feds do.

Unfortunately it does!

Unfortunately it does! All the "states" in the democracy are incorporated as a Federal corporation so the powers allotted to the "states" in the Republic pass on to the Federal custodian. So the answer is YES, commercial contract law (UCC) is the supreme law of the land to all 14th amendment "persons".
In the vacant seats of the Republican form of government guaranteed in Article 5 Sec. 4 of the US Constitution sit the elected persons of the democracy voted for by the voluntary slaves of the 14th, 15th & 18th amendments under "citizens of the United States" not "citizens of the several states".

You see in stead of the word people/s the word persons is used in the phrase 14 amend Sec. 1. "All persons born or naturalized..." the word "person" means the creation of an identity for the purpose of contract! If you where to have never signed any contracts in your life before age 0 and after you age 18 you would not be a person.
Example: under the definition of the word person in Black's Law Dictionary it states "Unborn child. Word "person" as used in the 14th Amendment does not include the unborn. Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113, 93 S.Ct. 705, 729 35 L.Ed2d 147. Why? Because the child has no contracts with the state or Federal governments to give a remedy to.

When the Constitutional Convention was in play, I believe Hamilton said "...if a Federal government where to be created, it could not interact with the citizens of the several states, it could only interact with the 'person' of the citizen..."

I'm not making this all up. You can read it for your self in the Federalist papers and Anti-federalist papers and Black's Law Dictionary.

UCC is state law

UCC is state law, not federal law. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Uniform_Commercial... Even if it were federal, it would be unconstitutional to begin with because the feds have no constitutional authority to use the commerce clause to usurp state authority.

As I already pointed out, the legality of the 14th amendment is highly questionable. Also, even if it were valid, it is only applicable insofar as original intent (at the time of its ratification) would take it, not as far as any possible construction of the words might allow; I believe even Jefferson said something along those lines when explaining how to interpret the Constitution, i.e., to not ask what kind of meaning can be stretched from the words, but rather to ask what the likely intent was. See also http://federalistblog.us/mt/articles/14th_dummy_guide.htm

So even if the 14th amendment were lawfully valid (and it probably isn't) and the people who wrote it intended for it to do what you're suggesting, such actions would still not count as being constitutional unless the general consensus of ratifying state legislatures concurred with that intent. See also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7SpA2Qe3FM

Also, as a side note, you're citing Supreme Court case precedent. Case precedent does not supersede the original intent of constitutional law. http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/constitution/794

I think you're giving the statists too much credit. They aren't a bunch of legal geniuses who use the Constitution to manipulate us with complex contract laws; they typically just violate the Constitution. For example, Judge Napolitano said that he recently spoke with Congressman James Clyburn, one of the top Democrats in the House, and Clyburn told Napolitano that most of what Congress does is not authorized by the Constitution; Clyburn defended this by saying that it is not prohibited, either (apparently not bothering to read the 10th amendment).

I think everyone involved is fully aware of this..

..and it's just one of the issues that will have to be addressed. Badnarik speaks of this every opportunity he gets and he'll be one of the delegates from Texas.

Anyone know

where results are posted from Saturday?

I know final results will not be until after 17th and mail-ins are counted.

Send this letter to your local news editors!

Everyone,

Send this letter to your local media outlet editors:

To the Editor:

Bailouts, layoffs, foreclosures, social decay, family destruction and endless wars. Most don’t know it but virtually every problem that America now suffers is the direct result of violations of the Constitution by our (servant) government.

Finally, there is hope! This November, publicly elected citizen-delegates representing the People of each state will convene at a national assembly known as “Continental Congress 2009.” The purpose of this historic event is to formally document the violations and develop strategies the People can employ to peacefully resist tyranny and restore Constitutional Order.

It’s time to hold our servant government accountable and reclaim the Light of Liberty. Learn more about CC2009 and the true power of Popular Sovereignty at www.cc2009.us

Articles of Confederation

The duty of the Continental Congress shall be to address the issues of the past and present in light of not only the Constitution but first of all... in light of the Articles of Confederation...

This link will compare the the TWO above in the respective major points...

We-The-People participating in the works of the Continental Congress should get ourselves educated in the differences and discuss/vote on them according to our conscience...

Bump this

Even the pessimist urges you to go vote

Realistically, I don't have much hope for this making a signficiant change. But you never know which little fire is going to bust loose, and more importantly it IS the right thing to do. If you are just now starting, you will really have to study hard tonight to get up to speed. Please do so.
I will be working a polling place. I am really excited about getting to help count votes. I will get to make damn sure that for ONCE I get to participate in a valid election.
Do the right thing - vote.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

We voted today

I sent notice out to quite a few people--hope they got up to speed and voted.

I envy you..............put

I envy you..............put my ballot in the mail today.

How about abolish the Constitution?

And go back to true state sovereignty? 50 independent nations.

The whole thing

is going to be filmed, I think. Perhaps even on the internet in real time, not sure about that though.

It will be

streamed live

Freedom is NOT free!

My ballot went out today!

Some little known key points for CC2009:

All delegates will be daily interacting with those in their state through internet links setup for this purpose. They will be responsible for feeding us a summary of the day's proceedings. This is huge! What it will provide is a platform for Patriots across the nation to get involved with CC2009 and use their creative juices to help steer the most powerful path forward. Yes, I am talking of a NATIONAL LIBERTY/FREEDOM THINK TANK for this 17 day period that may morf into something much bigger and more permanent. Some viewers have been impressed with the ideas coming out of the dp. Can you imagine dpers and liberty groups across the country having input in this historic event? The potential will only be limited to our collective imaginations. Remember, the battle has just begun. This is the exciting part. Let's get it on!

How many...

...organizations do I have to join? How many organizations to I have to donate to and subscribe to?

C4L is currently at the top of my list and I see no need to spread myself too thin.

I also don't think C4L is doing enough. What I'd like to see them do is establish some sort of plan rather than oppose all the bad stuff.

What alternatives have been set up for when the dollar crashes? What if martial law is declared and riots ensue? The guy in the video is correct that we need to be proactive.

I'd like to see bills that spell out the path towards Continuity of Liberty, rather than catch bills that spell out how liberties will be taken for Continuity of Government and rail against them.

I sent this to C4L along with a hefty check months ago:

"We often hear statements about how difficult things will be and how we need to be strong and make sacrifices, but we have yet to hear any concrete solutions to the mess we're in. It's very likely that many more jobs will be lost, more businesses will fail, and the economy will contract even more making it difficult for many of us to acquire the basic necessities of life.

I believe it's time to establish realistic and sensible goals that will effectively handle the needs of the people over the next few years. We appear to have very few avenues open to us and our actions so far fail to recognize the very real possibility that we will be burdened with many hardships as the economic crisis deepens.

I have no aversion to making sacrifices, helping out fellow citizens, and weathering the storm to come, but in order to do so with conviction I feel it necessary to know what the facts are, what considerations have been made to determine the basic needs of the populace should civil unrest become more pronounced, and what actions will be taken to address those needs and provide stability amid what could very well be a chaotic time for all of us. We all know that the New Orleans/Katrina situation was handled very poorly and I would really appreciate some indication that those in power have learned from that mistake.

The immediate Government response to ensure "Continuity of Government" during emergencies appears to be to take control of everything. People will not stand for this and they're right to object, but it would be best to have an alternative to established Government policies in place before any such emergency occurs. It's time to outline actions that will help the populace rather than control the populace in the case of an emergency and I believe we should make an effort to pass new bills that would ensure our rights and attend to our needs. There is no guarantee the Government will favor any new bills over their habitual and opportunistic power grabs, but only with such alternative bills presented or in place will we have a clear picture of how they perceive our rights.

"For the good of the people" is a wonderful statement that's bandied about often in the political realm, but it's time the Government showed us that it actually intends to work for us rather than against us when our strife is magnified and we begin to express ourselves.

Whether the bailouts, the recovery packages, and whatever else Obama and Congress dream up are justified or appropriate actions is beside the point. All of those debates can be dealt with at a later date, or alongside the more pressing needs of the day. Our situation is precarious whether we take action on that level or not. Our primary concern should be to point ourselves in a direction that will sidestep mass panic, food shortages, and/or possible riots.

Should we experience riots there will be immediate and threatening repercussions which will make our task even more daunting, and many more liberties will be taken from us than we have already lost which will compound the problem. If we travel down that path it will make our ascension out of the depths we're in that much harder, and will create clearly defined "sides" for a battle that will leave none of us unscathed and our country in ruins. In many ways those lines are already defined but we can still avoid a physical confrontation if we establish viable alternatives before any such confrontation becomes necessary.

It is my belief that those who establish a clear and safe path towards stability and provide the citizenry with a set of defined goals that adequately address their needs during the next few years will be the ones the citizens respect and support after the crisis has passed. What we've seen so far is assistance focused solely on propping up wall street and unsound financial institutions at the expense of the American people. The efforts to date haven't been appropriate or successful and will only lead to further bailouts with creative names, higher prices, and additional taxes.

Some might argue that bailing out the very institutions that created this mess is necessary in order to stabilize a system we all depend on, but when that system has done nothing but take advantage of us it's a hard sell.

Whatever the case the result will be the same. Times will be hard and the sooner we develop a proactive plan rather than a reactive one the better off we'll be. It's my most fervent wish that Ron Paul and his honorable compatriots be the ones to develop our path through the coming turmoil because I believe that you are the only political group out there that will adequately consider what it means to be an American (in both times of plenty, and in times of want.)

This crisis is not the end. It is only a transitional phase which, with the right leadership, will allow us to take back our country and rebuild what we've lost."

Just an off-the-cuff letter because I didn't want what's coming to lead where I think it will without some sort of alternative. I received no response which is fine, but I've also seen no real action on ALTERNATIVES to established unconstitutional laws.

When it comes right down to it all laws except the Constitution are as legitimate as federal reserve notes, but I'm afraid this fact is lost on the Government. When push comes to shove (and I believe it will) it will be up to us to remind them that we're actually people and they do not own us. It will get physical, and I believe that's what they want.

The best way to defend against what has been a relentless attack on our liberties and on the Constitution is to provide alternative paths to stability besides the take over mantra so fervently adhered to by the federal Government. States rights are one path, but we need to be clear. Perhaps we can submit our own bills and when they shoot them down it'll be one more chink in their armor.

What I've seen is that as they've squandered our wealth and encroached on our lives things have become more and more fragile. We've now reached critical mass.

All the bills introduced point to them being unwilling to sacrifice their position for the good of the people, but instead they position themselves in ways to take from the people to strengthen their power. They spend our money against our will in ways that improve their ability to spend our money against our will. They take our liberties and give themselves more. Then they move on to businesses, and on up the ladder, all the while focusing their attention outside the country, sending troops to die in manufactured wars, sending our money overseas to their banker friends (fiends?), and undermining the country and Constitution they claim to cherish.

Tax here, fee there, another tax, and another, sprinkle in some control, take away some liberties, ignore the truth, ignore the people, pretend we're incapable of understanding what's going on...

Then we defend and argue the points.

We need an alternative to what they've created and we need it introduced as legislation for all to see. As far as I'm concerned I'd much rather sacrifice the federal Government than the liberty of the American people, the sovereignty of the states, and the stability of our businesses, but we're doing the opposite at every step of the way.

(whew... rant over)

How many do you have to join?

As many as it takes.

Exactly!

Good points, good letter UserAccount.

I hope folks at C4L will read it and do some serious thinking. And I'd hope many beyond that organization will make efforts to offer positive solutions for here and now, as well as opposing the status quo.

At the same time, our funds are lean; the government is so formidable precisely because its funding has been unrestrained, while it robs us in the private sector and makes volunteer funding very difficult. Plus offering alternatives carries so much risk: alternative currencies, for instance.

I think most of us probably are working in our private spheres for local solutions and alternatives. And one of the many uses of forums such as DP is to announce alternatives and suggest solutions. I hope you will launch any concrete ideas you have, so we can help and participate.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what I can offer to the mix, but I have some ideas in the works!

Nice video

But the movement is currently too small to be effective. The video points out that a critical mass is needed, and there is no where close to that yet.

The liberty movement has a foothold at best, and is hanging on by the skin of its teeth.

THE CC 2009 will have too many oddballs - all parties have them, but the percentage here will be too high - that's why you need critical mass.

ODDBALLS?! That is the reason to have an uncorrupted vote!

It is up to the Patriots in this country to get involved, go to the website and choose the best delegates from your state!
The Patriots in the movement are WELL RESPECTED by most of us!
If you are too late to be involved in the voting---Please donate so that this can happen!
Someone below was critical of Bob Schulz---this man has been committed to Liberty for many years. Is he perfect?! Are you Perfect?! What have you done for most of your life?

Great Video

Great video. The tag line - To Defend NOT Amend the Constitution answers questions many had about the Continental Congress - great choice of words.
