Hello Ron Paul Fanatics
I started a meetup because our local was having trouble with planning and organizing and we don't have time to waste time or effort. We have buried the hachet, so to speak, but I still have the meetup.
I'm calling it the Ron Paul Fanatic Meetup and I'm looking for ideas of how to help other groups as well as promote Ron Paul activities along the Gulf Coast. We have five states along the Gulf Coast Florida (Jan 29), Alabama (Feb 5), Louisiana(Feb 9), Texas(Mar 4), and Mississippi (Mar 11), which represents 85 of the 535 electoral votes, or 32% of the 268 votes it takes to win the Presidentcy.
This is also Bowl season. We have numerous Bowl games in this region that have many people from accross the nation. My first idea is try and get a presence at each of these... we need a blimp or 'blimp like' idea!
Feel free to join and let the ideas begin!

How about a Ron Paul Pub Crawl
light on the drinking and heavy on the canvassing...
We're doing a version of that...(the Pub Crawl)
What we call our Tuesday and Thursday Night Club...we hit a new establishment each time. It's a bonding experience and we get converts!
Some statements..."If you love Freedom, you'll love Ron Paul!"; "Who are you voting for? Why?"; If you don't have a snappy andidote for their response: "Would you consider Ron Paul as your second choice?" These usually get people talking!

San Antonio here
You should post on our meetup board. I am sure our group would be happy to coordinate with you. Do Austin too. Those guys rock.
Excellent.
Maybe we can do a similar thing as in Iowa...a letter writing campaign targeting voters in the various states as the primaries happen we switch to new targets in the next state. That's just one idea. Anyone from MS? AL? LA?

Ron Paul Chocolate Libety Dollars
http://ronpaulchocolate.c... are currently being manufactured in Houston if you want to manufacture a run of 15000 it will cost about $1800 (plus shipping, manufacturer linked to from the site). If you set up an eBay store you can easily recoup the investment and donate profit to the campaign. Give them away to people who haven't heard of Ron. "have a piece for peace!"
Not bad...we've been looking for a solid fundraising idea

Man, I'm loving these ideas!
The Ron Paul Navy! How about we set the Ron Paul Bowl for when the Blimp comes down to Florida! Who could we get to play? Is there any semi-pro teams that would like the attention? The Mini-blimps are awesome...we could get a couple and fly them over every major event!
Also, I'm in Florida. I need some willing parties in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas that will need some help after the Florida primary. Maybe we could work together to win the primaries in each state. We are just learning how to do many things...by the time Texas comes around we'll be experts!

My fellow
My fellow Americans:
Recorded history show the cycle of man. Oppressed people find courage…courage bring action….action is followed by liberty…liberty brings affluent Society….being affluent we reseeds into complacency…complacency gives way to apathy…apathy turns into dependency … dependency completes the cycle back to oppression. History will record that America is at a tipping point between apathy and dependency.
In the next few months the course for America will be set. The primary elections gives common people a voice. For the first time, in your life time, you are given a choice. We can choose between prominent politicians or a statesman, a man who has fought all of his life, sometimes alone in the house of congress, to preserve the rights of all free men. We have been given the opportunity to join this noble endeavor. I for one welcome this challenge.
America, from it’s inception, has always been a beacon of hope. Today, even tarnished, we remains the leader of the free world. The world is calling out to be free.
We are at the fork in the road. What we do now will effect the liberty of all future Americans, plus the world of humanity. Our liberty, guaranteed by the constitution, is being eroded away. Some time laws are passed for noble causes, the results are the same, lost of liberty. Most of time it is a planed erosion. A republic, like the 10 commandments, will stand the test of time, left in it’s purest form. A democracy, acting on the whim of the majority, has no foundation. The results is a slide into fascism, a total lost of freedom. All humanity are endowed by our creator with these inalienable rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We as Americans are guaranteed this by law.
George Washington said, “Americans would rather die on feet than live on their knees.” I ask all Americans to stand with me, no matter your political leaning or ideology. The alternative is un-thinkable.
All humanity is connected by 6 degrees of separation, meaning if you pass this message to all your friends and they in-turn do the same we can reach the world. Please take some time to ponder the enormity of the situation. Then join with me, together we can make a better world for our children and their children’s children, I thank you and they will too.
Our statesman, RON PAUL is putting his very life on the line, can we as Americans do any less.

Ron Paul BOAT
Get a big boat and go to town with the thing.
They had a couple of Ron Paul yachts at the debate. Set up a tour schedule, get the folks down to the docks when it comes in and hold rallies. See if you can the Doc to come to the dock and stand on the boat.
"Come down to the dock to see the doc"
Should get local media attention no problem.
Who the freak else has a presidential campaign boat?
Make sure the boat tour has a coordinator and can hook up with the groups in each port. Always keeping the press release local. Then, you got the boat and the blimp and we'll keep an eye out for the train guys to get the Ron Paul Freedom express chugging along right?
God, I have a lot of ideas, I just can't say if any of them are any good.
Get a really big beach. You know? Big at high tide and low tide.
In the sand, really huge, spell out Ron Paul rEVOLution so that a plane, or better yet, A news helicopter can film it. The TV news isn't in the business of giving candidates free publicity. They LOVE to cover local folks doing stuff locally. Always accentuate that you are a local group and where the members are from etc. Can't get the newschopper? Make sure you got a backup. Someone with a plane can film it and send to TV news...and someone can photograph it and send it to the local papers. (and the Daily Paul)
Local news likes stuff that is about people. Everyone reading this should understand that to get PR you need to have it be about a "local man" "local woman" "Local family" "local group." And be polite and give them enough warning. They are busy, help them help you. Get the camera guy a cup of coffee and thank him. If they don't make it, say thanks we will be doing it again and when.
Prep a nice neat press release a week before. See if a group member has connection at the TV station and follow up with a polite call. Then have a rally and do it.
Most of this stuff is PR stunt oriented...like the blimp. the blimp is a home run because it is an oddity and people like stuff like that. So the news people will cover it for that reason...NOT because it gives PR to a campaign.
The RON PAUL BOWL!
You could try and work off one of the local college bowl games with a stunt that tries to latch onto the local PR campaign being put on by the football promoters. maybe the college kids could help out. I mean Texas is Bowl country. I think they have six of the dang things.
They will be fussy about posters at the game as they are business people who charge for advertising to recoup their investment in the game. So be polite about that.
You could shoot for blocks of free tickets though.. Florida Atlantic is playing Memphis in the the "New Orleans Bowl." Dec. 21st.
Guess what? A lot of empty seats for that one. Get a block of free tickets from the promoters and have everyone sit in a row and paint RON PAUL 2008 on their chest, or shirts and pray the camera gets ya. It is a long shot, but, about 800,000 fans will be watching at home. Maybe you could get the kids from Florida Atlantic if they have a meetup group to do it? They will all have free tickets.
This view would apply to all of your local bowl games. To get the fans at the bowl is one thing....very few folks from Louisiana will be at the New Orleans bowl because there are no local teams involved.
The Papa John's pizza bowl is on the 22nd in Birmingham. It is Southern Mississippi against Cincinnati. Southern miss should buy a bunch of tix. But the same approach could apply easily. I assume plenty of free tickets to locals.
On the 28th you have Houston playing TCU in the Texas Bowl in Houston. This is Ron Paul country. The game should about sold out as it is a home game. But it is Ron Paul country. His name should be easy there and maybe someone can help in some way. I'm thinking RP ribs in the parking lot before the game. Call his congressional office and ask for Tix. He's been "God" down there for 30 freaking years right?
Penn State and A&M are in San Antonio on the 29th. That will be well attended by Aggies.
Colorado and Alabama in Shreveport at the Independence bowl. The crimson tide should be well represented in the stands. Don't the kids at Bama have a meetup? I know Boulder has RP people...do the Buffalo's have a meetup? This is a good one.
Fort worth Texas for the Armed Forces Bowl. This one will be very lightly attended as it is California and Air Force. I mean this place will be empty. Tix should be simple. Cal must have a RP group. They absolutely must. bang the student paper over there. It is all about miracles right? I'll say this is good and that is bad and the bad one will be a home run right?
Outback Bowl in Tampa, FL. Wisconsin and Tennessee. Will be fairly busy, but don't we gotta lot of folks in Tampa? Don't you just park the Ron Paul van across from the entrance and 10,000 people of the 40,000 will see it?
Don't you just get some free tix go the these games and have Ron Paul BQ in the lot before the game? Let the student groups know about it so they stop by.
Cotton Bowl Gator Bowl and sugar Bowl are usually a tough ticket. but maybe by the time these go off you have figured out a way to hook on. It is 30,000 to 70,000 per game. Heck you get the posters on the cars/trucks sit in freaking traffic and you've wupped the Hew Hampshire people walking door to door in the snow. Just have a RP convoy before and after the game. really. All the folks are walking to the car and sitting in traffic. Pay the guy with the store across the street from the stadium to paper his store front for the day. this is low cost low tech stuff that can pack a wallop with 28,000 people walking buy in an hour.
Good luck with the Gulf coast football brigade. If I had the dough. I would rent the van, paper it and drive down for all the games. Since you guys are there, it will be way cheaper and easier.
Be nice to the football folks though...it is a religion for them and you need to respect that stuff. They will be thinking of their kids and their team before the game. Keep in mind, RP student groups for these games. (OSU/MICH did it big at their game in November.)
Here is the yahoo bowl list link.

Good luck Gulf Coast revolution. I love you guys.
Hopefully, my dumb ideas will help you come up with a couple of good ones. Don't discount the miracle thing. If you just mosey along and give it your best shot...............you'll get one. BTW I'll be watching for you guys during the games on the tube!!
Please, keep us posted. you never know what one of us comes up with right before game time! And we need lots of pictures!

Do this..
Load up your car with a cheap canopy, a table, some signs, stickers and buttons and maybe even a laptop with videos on it.
Set yourself out at these football games and events if you can.
Sounds like a plan...How about this one
Adopt an Intersection...find a busy intersection around your home or one you pass thru often or one that's by a big event and plaster it with Ron Paul signs. Then keep an eye on it...keep the signs coming if they get knocked down...

Mississippians for Ron Paul
Hey you said you were along the Gulf Coast. Our group in Jackson is starting to pick up some steam. We are going to be at a gun show this weekend. Where are you from?
I'm in Pensacola
I was stationed in Hattisburg many years back when I was in the Army and still have friends there. It was a great time.
Good Luck to you. I suggest evening meetings in popular places...social type gatherings...they seem to draw more people and if you change your venue each week...you'll get many people curious about what your group is about... It's working for us.

Excellent idea!
Meet at a cool place downtown! Beats a basement. Make the dang thing fun. We got enough misery just having to put up with the TV news every day.
Best,
