Expand the Oathkeepers' numbers! Help Educate Our Troops with Constitutional Care

As I read through the last Oathkeeper thread, I had an idea that may help us educate and support our troops at the same time. With the holidays approaching, we will begin to hear the call to support our troops and send packages to those so far from home. While I think that's a great idea in itself, I think we can improve on that idea. Not only do our troops need practical things and moral support, I think they need to be reminded of what and whom they really fight for. They fight not for our government with its fascist ideas and imperialistic agenda, but for We the People and The Constitution for the united States of America.

Our troops consist of our young men and women, emphasis on young. As such, they most likely got a half-a$$ed education about freedom and the foundations of our country. With the New World Order being taught in the schools, most of them, I suspect, have never even read the Constitution that they've sworn to uphold. I think that we should begin an educational support campaign that will put a copy of The Constitution in every service members pocket.

I propose that we start a campaign of Constitutional Care Packages. I think that if we each send a care package to a member of our military that includes a pocket Constitution, some literature from the Oathkeepers, practical items, thanks and best wishes, that we could reach an enormous amount of our military members.

To that end I've done a bit of the preliminary research to help us start this. Some links here:

Soldiers' names:

http://www.anysoldier.com/WhereToSend/

Each name represents more than one person. This name is a designee who will deliver packages within their troop. The Gov. doesn't allow delivery to "Any Soldier" but if you address to the individual name with "Any Soldier" written as the first line in the address, they will deliver and it will be distributed. When you click on the soldiers name, it will give you information about what they need.

Here is a really good list of the kinds of things to send:

To order your pocket Constitutions:

You can get 10 for $10 here: https://secure.heritage.org/PocketConstitutions/?src=first

or one for free here: http://www.askheritage.org/Premium.aspx

Download Oathkeepers brochures and flyers here: http://oathkeepers.org/oath/resources/#downloads

You can request free Military Care Package Mailing Kits from the Post Office. It includes boxes, labels, and all of the forms you may need. If you choose to "Constitutionally Care" for a member of the military stationed overseas, you will also need to fill out a customs form to go with your package.

Money is short for everyone today, but this can be done at little cost. If you choose a service member stationed in the US, you will be able to keep your cost down. A small package with a personal note, and a copy of the Constitution with an Oathkeepers flyer, is a nice gesture. Overseas costs, naturally, are a bit higher. (Cost estimates for Iraq here: http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/il_005.htm#ep1385472 )

I think we can quickly raise constitutional awareness all through our military with this effort. I see this as a way of supporting them, by sending sincere thanks for their oath to the Constitution and for their Service. I think that notes to the troops should be on a personal nature, with gratitude and prayers rather than a reminder to keep their oath and encouragement to become an Oathkeeper. To me, The Constitution of the United States speaks for itself. We should make sure that It speaks to all members of our military.

Maeve - thanks for this active idea!

Blessings to you as well.

for weekend viewing.

i think this is a great idea.

we should figure out a way to attach the revolution to this. patriots for patriots, P4P, or something along those lines. this could be good PR for our cause. how do we organize a group to work through, to help get our positive message out there? local groups working under the same banner to solicit the public for support and donations, while at the same time educating both folks here at home, and the troops as well? this could be a win, win, win situation with a little planning.

I'm not much for organizing,

I'm not much for organizing, so I was hoping if I put the research out there that someone would pick up the ball and get it rolling. I'm disabled and don't get out much, so don't think I'd be much use in the organization end. But, research is a whole other ball of wax. That I can do! And I'm one of the best cheerleaders you'd want to meet! LOL

I plan to send packages whenever I can, way beyond the holiday season. I KNOW that with a concerted effort we can multiply the Oathkeepers numbers exponentially.

i think what you view as your limitations

would be an asset to organizing. i hope to keep this post active as this is a great way to get Ron Paul and the Revolution away from the "angry white men" picture that is so desperately trying to be painted. this charitable campaign would be an excellent opportunity to win the hearts and minds of the people.

I thought so too, but others

I thought so too, but others don't seem to be terribly interested in this. I'm hoping others will see the value too eventually. Hopefully, not too late though.

fantastic, productive idea!

fantastic, productive idea! It would be cool if we could coordinate on here to send out say 20 letters each a specific company of troops.

This effort,

would do far more to futher our interests than anyone could ever imagine.

Thank you

for putting this together. I think it would be great if people got some of Ron Paul's books and Judge Nap's book and any other good book for them that stresses our history and responsibility. to the Constitution and bill of rights.
I have a feeling the pocket Constitutions may wind up in a drawer.

Great Idea with the books!

Nothing saying we can't send both. :)

this is a great idea...

This was always in the back of my mind as well....I wanted to actually help a program like this get started with vidoes of Sir! No Sir! and Winter Soldiers to help the resistance in the armed forces... I think a Constitutional care package with Oathkeep marterial is may work well together....

I looked into getting soldier names, but it seemd the government really wanted to maintain control of who's sending them things...

Great idea IMO though...

Videos are great!

But we also need to make sure we follow the DoD guidelines for what can and can't be sent. Videos, from what I saw, need to be original, in other words, we can't break copyright law. So for instance, no bootleg copies. lol

The site that lists the soldiers' names is "approved" by the DoD, in that whatever they have listed as regulation is correct.

Do I have this

correct? You choose a name from anysoldier.com (and I see they specifically state one must check on the day one is to mail the package to be certain that soldier hasn't moved), then you address the package to that particular soldier's name, then any soldier underneath that, then the actual physical address underneath that???

Yes exactly!

If you follow the link that I provided to soldiers' names, click a name in the left hand column, on the right you'll now see the info about that troop's unit. It will tell you how many male and female members, how many times people have accessed that name to send pkgs, and there is a list of what they need too.

Each of the soldiers named have volunteered to distribute packages throughout their units, usually to those who don't receive much for mail. They are required to check in with the site once a month to keep it all current.

Thank you!

* I support this idea ..be sure to send them items they need also. Thanks for making it easy with the links!

My pleasure . . .

We each do what we can. I'm disabled and basically home bound, but this I can do. Sample toiletries from the grocery store etc. makes it an easy thing to do. A nice note of appreciation goes a long way in making someone seriously look at your point of view. I support our troops, but I sure don't support their mission, so I plan to send a few when and as I can.

Thanks for your support Liberty Belle.

You know,

The pocket Constitutions are a buck a piece, but if you order 50 they are only 50 cents a piece.
