WSJ: Ron Paul vs. Lindsey Graham on the Future of the GOP

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2009/10/14/ron-paul-vs-lindsey...

Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul took to the cable networks today to jab back at South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, who over the weekend said he would not sit back and watch the Texan “hijack” the GOP with his brand of Republicanism.

“My first reaction would be, ‘What does he have against the Constitution?’ And the supporters I have support me because I’m a traditional conservative and I support the Constitution,” Paul told CNN in an interview tonight.

He cited Graham’s support of TARP funds and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and “all the big government things” as examples of why his supporters feel lukewarm about the GOP. “These are the things that constitutional conservatives don’t support,” he said.

The spat was sparked during a contentious Oct. 12 town hall meeting in Greenville, S.C., when Graham engaged in verbal combat with constituents who questioned his GOP credentials and urged him to be a little more like Paul. (Click here to watch the video.)

“I’m going to grow this party. I’m not going to let it be hijacked by Ron Paul,” Graham said to jeers. One heckler called out: “You’re the one that hijacked it!”

Another constituent questioned the senator’s adherence to constitutional principles, and aligned herself with the Constitution Party “because I’m a constitutionalist, senator, and you are not.” In his reply, Graham said that “Ron Paul’s run for president like 39 times. He keeps losing.”

Graham's lucky he doesn't come up for reelection in 2010!

If he did, I'm sure the Liberty movement could find someone to run against him in the primary. It saddens me to know that SC will be stuck with this idiot for another 6 years.

39 elections!? So Ron's at

39 elections!? So Ron's at least 191 years old?

Hahaha! You know that 1852 election, Ron would have beat that darn Franklin Pierce, if it wasn't for that pesky Whig party stealing his votes!

...Checking wikipedia... well what do you know? Another North Carolina senator named Graham was on that Whig presidential ticket. That explains all this animosity towards the good doctor. Must be some kind of family feud. The Grahams are still upset about that loss. Ron done split their Whig!

Very funny

Very.

I think Lindsey must get his orders

directly from the global elite. He's their boy through and through. They probably got the goods on him early in the game and effectively controlled him ever since.

Maybe Graham's a dick but.... KEEP IT COMING!

Massive amounts of face time for RP! Popularity is soaring!
At this point, there is no such thing as bad press. As long as they keep putting him on and letting him explain himself at length, I say let Graham be as stupid as humanly possible! I'd even support a money bomb to continue Graham's stupidity!
The stupider they sound, the more desperate they become, the more they alienate their own constituents, the better it is for the Revolution.
God bless Lindsay Graham! Keep him loud and clueless and protect him from ever opening his eyes!

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

The Worst Republican Senator - American Spectator Article

South Carolina's Lindsey Graham is a flop. He pretends to be a conservative, but sells out conservatives and insults them while doing so. He pretends to be effective at reaching across party lines, but the only thing he effectively does is help the other party. He inhabits the Senate seat of Strom Thurmond, legendary for great attention to his South Carolina constituents, but Graham spends most of his time trailing behind John McCain like a valet as McCain criss-crosses the country in pursuit of the presidency. He called Ted Kennedy "one of the most principled men I've ever met." In sum, in the words of conservative movement stalwart Richard Viguerie, "Lindsey Graham is part of the problem."

Not Fair!

I don't think you're being fair to the 8 dozen or so other senate scumbags. Just because it's Graham's turn (he's not up for re-election for 5 more years, don't ya know) to stink up the room doesn't mean his "colleagues" have suddenly gone straight, does it?

Exactly!

you are exactly right, jsw2k...

we have two senators here in tennessee, alexander and corker, who stink of corruption and blatant disregard for american values...

these two, bob (two-bit) corker and lamar (honey) alexander, sold us out to wall street and continue to ignore their constituents!

politician graham is not any worse than these two...they are all sell-outs to the american ideal and should be defeated and tarred and feathered in disgrace!

O Captain, My Captain, rise up and hear the bells!

O Captain! My Captain! Rise up and hear the bells!

This burns my ass

Lindsey Graham is a phoney.

Freedom brings people together!

Its that simple...
