NATO "sorry" for killing Afghans, to investigate
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (Reuters) – NATO-led forces in Afghanistan said on Saturday they would investigate the killing of four Afghans, reported by police to include a child and two women, by foreign troops in southern Kandahar city.
"We are deeply sorry for the loss of any life, especially civilians," spokesman Colonel Wayne Shanks was quoted as saying in a NATO statement.
A Kandahar police official said a U.S. military convoy opened fire on a civilian vehicle, killing a child, two women and a man. A spokesman for NATO was unable to confirm the age and gender of the casualties.
The convoy involved appeared to belong to U.S. Special Forces, police official Shah Agha told Reuters.
The NATO statement said one of its convoys had shot at a civilian vehicle after it failed to stop when signaled to do so, killing four aboard and possibly wounding two others. It would not disclose the nationality of the troops involved.
"ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) troops tried repeatedly to signal the fast-approaching vehicle with passive measures, but fearing for their safety fired on the vehicle," the statement from the alliance said.
The incident comes while preparations are under way for Afghanistan's presidential election run-off, which the Taliban vowed earlier to disrupt and urged Afghans to boycott.
U.S. Army General Stanley McChrystal, the new U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, issued a directive in July stressing the importance of avoiding civilian casualties, which have undermined support for the war against the Taliban.

The Trials of Henry Kissinger...
is an excellent documentary. The atrocities that man instigated are unbelievable. Goes to show you, he wins the Noble Prize for Peace while committing war crimes against humanity.

I don't like Fog of War with McNamara either... it's appauling to watch these knowing these men are free. I half to calm down now. I read the headline and almost barfed... that vid really angers me because it makes me know I, we, the world is helpless against this kind of unjustice, and if it was justice somehow.. that I am such an ignorant sot to not see the justice and peace Kissinger and McNamara produced for the world.

Loathsome as Kissinger was--and is--I think that he has done a service to the American people, especially recruits into the armed forces, by expressing, in an honest and forthright way, exactly what he, and other leading members of the political class, think of them, and from military recruits, to the taxpaying citizens generally.
I never thought that I should say this, but Dr. K should be commended for his honesty!
It would help if we would all remember that that opinion--and the attitude behind it--is certainly not unique to Kissinger, and it is universally held by the profiteers behind Imperium Americana!
I hope that patriotic groups like Oathkeepers remember to remind their fellow servicemen and veterans of Kissinger's remark when it comes to enforcing martial law passed by their masters against their fellow "dumb animals" who happen to be civilians. I hope that we civilians remember that what the government thinks of its mercenaries applies even more to us!

A very powerful video! One can only ponder what kind of young man/woman is attracted to military service in the first place? especially in peace time. (now continuous wartime) A short time ago, I attended a typical Canadian reservation "pow-wow"... a unique spiritual gathering of first nations with entertainment, crafts, native foods etc. This is usually free to all children and seniors(elders) It is open to everyone. However what I did see that was disturbing, was the Canadian Armed forces booth actively recruiting natives. I queried one of the artisans about his feelings on this. He saw this as an "opportunity to gain respect and have a job". He felt this was the "big picture" that needed to be addressed. At one of the booths, I noticed a display of T-shirts on sale with the lettering HOMELAND SECURITY. I asked the young native selling the shirts where they were made? ... and wasn't this an American organization? Her reply was "It's pretty well universal now". It makes my blood run cold. As far as our military "peacekeepers" go, we have crossed the line, but your video shows clearly the line no longer exists. It's just an illusion. Hypocrisy, lies, murder and greed have a choke-hold on society in the name of "government" and "democracy"

I don't like highlighting
I don't like highlighting the rogue soldier, because they are only a handful. I have to believe the vast majority of these military believe they are fighting for our freedom, even though it is a myth. Where in the world is the anti-war left?
Why not highlight rogue soldiers?
Why not also highlight the fact that 90% get away with no real consequences?
I guarantee you that's all the people we're “liberating” see. The land's native peoples know someone or of someone whose families were raped and pillaged and murdered in cold blood by our soldiers, for no good reason whatsoever. They're also aware that most of these “rogue” soldiers pay no dues for their actions.
As the old saying goes, a few bad apples do spoil the bunch. But we're talking about a lot more than a “handful” here, and the things depicted in the video are only the very tiny tip of the ice berg. Our soldiers can spend years “liberating” a nation, town by town, but as soon as the rogue soldiers come along to any given town, the whole town knows about it and everything previously done there in the name of “good” is null and void in the eyes of the town people, and they are right to look upon us as terrorists. We create terrorists where there otherwise would be none. If a foreign power came to our country and raped, pillaged and killed my family, or even my neighbors, you can bet that some day I will find those responsible, catch them and split them inside out from ear to ear. Any soldier who stands idly by and watches the rogue soldiers act is just as guilty in the eyes of the people we're there to “help” and that's how it ought to be.
I think these rogue soldiers and their actions should be highlighted and publicly exposed as much as possible – so that we have to see what the native people have to see. Maybe that way the rogues would finally have some incentive to act like human beings. Maybe those in control of our forces would be forced, even if out of nothing more than embarrassment, to finally impose punishment upon the rogues.
And I guarantee you that every one of these big, tough, hard-a$$ rogue soldiers, when captured, will cry like little girls and beg for their lives, just like they were once begged for mercy.
And don't forget the phony reasons we're there to begin with.
