Where do you get the barrels? Also, what happens when the barrells fill up, say you get 1 or 2 inches of rain in a day? Do they overflow out the top?
BTW, have you seen the Earthship design for water collection and use? Larger cisterns, water filtration and treatment, and indoor use of rainwater:
