2012 Election Strategy for Ron Paul
Strategy for 2012
Ron Paul didn’t make it to the 2008 general election for one reason, many Independents that supported him were unable to vote for RP in the primary because they were not registered Republicans. We cannot allow this to happen again because the current leadership in the GOP is not willing to support him and are afraid of him. There is only one solution to this and that is members from the conservative-libertarian parties (ie Libertarian, Constitutional Parties, etc.) must put country before party and register to vote as a Republican before the primaries. We must make the Republican Party have no choice but to extend Ron Paul the nomination in 2012 because we will control the party though our powerful voting block. We have the ability to take over the Republican Party, it is currently fractured between RINOs and conservatives, and it is imperative we do this for our country and Ron Paul.
The point I am trying to make here is when a candidate like Paul (or other like minded individual) emerges in one of the two major parties, it doesn’t make a difference what party you belong to, it is in your best interest to register to vote in the major party that this candidate belongs to so he or she can make it through the primary into the general election…especially when our country is hanging by a thread like it is now. Republican, Democrats, Independents…it doesn’t make a difference, it seems logical to rally behind the candidate from the Republican or Democratic party that best supports your views in the primary because when it comes to the general election, the win will go to either a Democrat or Republican …especially in the presidential elections. Don’t get me wrong, the Independent Parties have put up some very good candidates, but people predominantly vote along Democrat and Republican Party lines in fear they will throw away their vote and then we end up with a very bad Republican or a very bad Democrat as president….not the cream of the crop of their parties.
As I see it, the best opportunity I can see for our collective conservative-libertarian alliance to work is to take control of Republican Party since it is the most divided, they still have conservative-libertarian candidates in the primary, and together we can use this party as a vehicle to put Ron Paul into office which shares our collective viewpoint. Jump in the party prior to the primary, but do not contribute a dime of your money to the Republican Party as long as the leadership of that party bashes our candidate, promotes views that compromise the Constitution, socialist agenda, or any other issues that compromises the coalition base issues…instead give your money directly to Ron Paul’s campaign on behalf of our massive coalition.
Also realize that by changing your registration to Republican forces their party to make changes to the platform to a place that is far closer to your overall viewpoint…those who control the party will determine the platform and choose the leadership. In doing so, this gives the independent parties an office holder that will be open to their views and creates greater opportunities for conservative-libertarian independent parties to take more seats in the future. I, as many people, am tired of getting the lesser of two evils of a leftist socialist Republican or a leftist socialist Democrat when it comes to the president elect..or members of Congress for that matter. If you are an Independent, I hope you can agree with me and convince others in your party that the future of this country depends on your vote. Better yet, convince your leadership to endorse Ron Paul early on….chances are he could take someone from your party as a running mate.
I am confident that this will work; we can have Ron Paul as President of the U.S., and start reforming this country back to her Constitutional roots. I also think that Ron Paul would approve of this strategy. Let’s get started…we have a lot of work to do before 2012.

Great post.
WE must get READY A.S.A.P.
Found this...
I received a return call this morning from Saul Anuzis, Chairman of the Michigan GOP, as the Thanksgiving holiday conspired to thwart my interview of him for this story. Mr. Anuzis, one of the three leading candidates for RNC Chairman, was helpful in noting the following:
1. The Republican Party is moving inexorably toward closing rather than opening its presidential primaries, for the very reasons cited in this article: The Party needs to pick its candidates rather than allowing others to do so.
2. As Chairman, he would facilitate and encourage the increasingly closed primary process, which could not be formally adopted as a nationwide mandate until the Republican National Convention in 2012. However, the RNC could indeed pass a Resolution in the meantime encouraging the states to close their primaries in the interim in the run-up to 2012.

Closed Primaries
Another reason for an Independent take over of the GOP. If you are Independent you will not get to vote for Ron Paul during the primaries. It is a must to get Dr. Paul through to the general election. Let's form this coalition and take the GOP by a storm.
If we really want Ron Paul to win...
I'm copying a post I made in another thread here, because it deals directly with strategy.
If we really want Ron Paul to win, then everyone of us, and every like minded person we can find, needs to run for their local Republican Committee seats. It was these local committees that enabled the violations of party rules and fair process we experienced last year.
The local committees put people on state committees that deal with rules and credentials. If Ron Paul supporters are on these committees, then we will make sure there are no shady things going on.
These committees also determine who to support in other races, and control the money flow to candidates.
I was elected Chairman of our county caucus over the county committee RINO who had planned on screwing us out of participation in the caucus. We took almost 140 delegate seats to the Congressional Convention and State Convention.
The guy then filed a complaint challenging the entire caucus claiming we were not real Republicans. He then sat on the credentials committee that heard the challenge. He decided his allegations were true based on one person post on a forum.
We were then not seated at the congressional convention and lost our 3 delegates to the national convention and lost one of our people being an elector.
You can see him brag about it here: http://www.youtube.com/wa...
We were later seated at the state convention when it was determined his allegations were baseless. At that point the damage was done because many people did not go to the state convention thinking we'd get the same treatment. At that convention we were outnumbered 2 to 1 and did not get any delegates.
Other caucuses here in MO held their caucuses days earlier than the officially posted dates or did other things to keep us out of the process. It was the same nationwide.
In my state the committee seats are 2 year terms. Whoever is elected in 2010 will be on the crucial committees in 2012.
So, if we are going to avoid this in 2012, we must take back the county committees now.
It makes sense
for two reasons.
First, the deck is stacked to favor one of the 2 major parties, from all angles.
Secondly, the vast hordes or uninformed "lever pullers" will vote for whomever is on the ticket that they usually vote for.
Yes, it will be a bitch fighting against the entrenched GOP corruption.
No doubt.
But in order to get to the top, you have to somehow beat everybody's corruption anyway, because it's omni-present up at that level.
So, I think it makes sense to take the road which has the most potential to win, and fight the corruption battles as we go along.
They are going to pull every dirty trick in the book.
We might as well get used to expecting that, and make our thrust count.
I know I'll probably be
I know I'll probably be attacked for saying this, but I don't think that Ron Paul should run as a Republican 2012. I think he should run as an independent, no party affiliation. I realize it's damn hard to win that way or get into debates, but Perot got into presidential debates as an Independent in '92. Ron Paul is far superior... tell me why I'm wrong.
Who backed Perot?
If you remember, Perot was backed by the Establishment. They created the Reform Party in 1992 for the purpose of splitting the conservative vote. Perot got 19% of the vote, thereby giving the election to Bill Clinton. I remember reading that David Rockefeller ran a large ad in the New York Times to endorse Bill Clinton, which told everybody that TPTB decided that Bush's time was up. My point in stating this is that Ron Paul would never get the Establishment's backing to be able to get anywhere near 19% of the vote as a third party candidate. Pat Buchanan ran for President on the Reform Party ticket in 2000, and when he received enough votes at their convention, fists started flying and a portion of the Reform party delegates left the convention and held a "breakaway" convention of their own. From there, they proceeded to nominate their own candidate, John Hagelin. He had the Establishment's support, but only for the purpose of minimizing Buchanan. He wasn't a serious candidate for the presidency. Ron Paul., like Pat Buchanan, would be marginalized and minimized if he were to run for POTUS as an independent.
You're wrong because you
You're wrong because you need to break the media blockade to win as an independent, and only a big time celebrity or billionaire can do that.
The reason
is that he will not get the votes needed to win. We need the Republican vote to win and most Republicans will go with whoever their party puts up as their candidate. Understand many of them are drones and not independent thinkers like you or I. Paul would get a lot of votes running under an Independent ticket, but not enough to win and would end up giving BHO mmm,,,mmm...mmm the win. We can allow this to happen to our country.
Um
You said it yourself.
"I realize it's damn hard to win that way or get into debates"
Also after Perot the powers that be changed allot of rules and bylaws. As such anyone running on a third party or indy ticket wouldn't see the light of day. Period. Until the time to cast your vote came. By then it was too late anyways.
No Third party.
No Independent.
Vote for Ron Paul Republicans.
The independent house of the Republican sector.
Then we need to get some good
Then we need to get some good Ron Paul Republicans running here in OH quick.
Off topic, but
what is up with James Traficant lately? Although a Dem, I think that he would fit in here at the DP. I saw that you are from OH. (Go Blue!)
Opinions?
Would like to hear more of you thoughts on this. I would like us to get a strategy in place, get organized, and collectively work the trenches to get Ron Paul elected in 2012. This means we will have to work the Independent parties and then overpower the Republican Party. This will take some time, a lot of commitment, and endurance. The work that was done last election has opened a lot of eyes and I know that we can get Paul into office.
It is time to take our country back and restore the republic! More ideas anyone?
FANTASTIC STRATEGY
Not only is this a great strategy.....it is the only strategy.....All members of the Libertarian and constitution parties and independents need to heed this. In fact an advertising campaign needs to be dedicated to this.......money needs to be raised and a website dedicated to this should be established with a counter of how many have signed up in each state.
If Ron Paul doesnt run....there is always Gary Johnson to rally around. He will need primary voters. Your primary vote is worth a thousand general election votes!!!
Elect a large caucus of liberty candidates ...
to the House; then eliminate all impediments to third party and "sore loser candidate" voting in all 50 states. Oklahoma would be the best place to start.
Why do we have to be
Why do we have to be registered with a certain party to be able to vote? Or am I mistaken? If I'm a registered R, but an L makes more sense, can I not vote for the L because I'm registered as an R?
http://www.lp.org/
http://mises.org/
You're not mistaken.
Here in my state, you simply ask for whichever ballot you want and vote accordingly. You don't have to be registered as a Republican to vote in a Republican primary, and vice-versa. You'll have to check in your own state to see if this voting scheme (as fleshmj below illustrated) applies to you.
Primary Votes Imperative
In the primary, you only get a ballot to vote for the candidates in the party you are registered for. So if you were registered as an L in the primary, then you couldn't vote for Ron Paul because he is an R. Ron Paul can not make it through the primary to the general election without the Independent vote. If you are an Independent, register to vote as a Republican so you can vote for Ron Paul in the primary. We must put country before party and break away from the way we normally would vote.
In the general election, all parties show up on the ticket limited to their party nominations, but Ron Paul will not be on it without your help in the primary.
I am very, very, confident that if we can get Ron Paul to the general election that he will be the next President of the United States. Many Republicans just vote for the candidate who the party seems to be supporting and do not vote on candidates on their own merits....so if we can can Ron Paul through the primary we will have all the Republican sheeples' vote too.
don't stop at registering republican...
get active with your county republican executive committee....work on becoming a precinct committeeperson as a starting point.....and get tied in with the liberty republicans already dragging the republican party back to the constitution.....the Republican Liberty Caucus.

Yes, and it's easy to get on the REC
Just submit your name and you're pretty much in if there is a vacancy in your district. If not, you may become an alternate and have voting privileges is the committee person is absent. Meetings are usually once every month or two for a few hours.
I also recommend that you sign up to become a ballot/poll worker. It's a good way to make the neocons think you're active in the party for them, hehe. And it gets you off the hook for supporting/volunteering any neocon candidates they may throw your way.
Absolutely
They will be screaming and kicking the whole way as the Liberty Republicans drag them back to the Constitution. The resolve of the Ron Paul supporters is great enough to make this happen. If we can put as much energy into taking over the Republican Party as we put into the last presidential campaign, we cannot fail and the odds will be stacked in our favor in getting Ron Paul to the finish line.
What say all of you? We need all supporters of Ron Paul to make this happen and we have our work cut out for us. The R3VOLUTION marches on and this is one major battle that will turn the tables big time.
this is a good strategy
this is a good strategy
i agree
this is a good post
Good stradegy
The jackasses (reps) don't have a chance as it is and the sad thing is they also don't have a clue why.
The main problem in the debates was RP's veiw on the war. The brainwashed masses backed by MSM made it a huge hurdle to jump.
I can't see much hope with 3rd party without media backup.
Running on the rep ticked is the best move. No telling what the USA will be like 2012. It's grim.
Not only does the media
Not only does the media ignore third party candidates, but third party candidates can't enter the debates...
I agree. Since the game is
I agree. Since the game is rigged, let's use their rigged game against them!
I don't care about the (D), (R), or (I) by their names... I only care about their philosophy and voting record (if they have one). The party labels are completely irrelevant.
I would suggest that all Independents and Libertarians register Republican so we can use their rigged two-party system and win.
We can get independent/libertarian thinkers in government by rendering the two-party system irrelevant.
Not to mention how all the presidential debates are biased towards Republican/Democrats... Third party candidates can't even get into the debates!
Register Republican!
I agree If we can get Rand
I agree
If we can get Rand elected to Senate, and get decent followings in other states for other Ron Paul candidates that will be a big help too.

Absolutely
Elect Rand as well as others that share Ron Paul's vision. Rand is in Kentucky and I live in Washington, but I contributed to his campaign. We will take this government one piece at a time and restore our Constitutional Republic.
