PrintEmail DoubleClick Any Word Page 1 of 2 next > For those of you not really paying attention to politics, the Republican Party had its CNN/YouTube debate on Nov. 28.
After each of the debates so far, CNN.com has posted several categories regarding the candidates' performances and has allowed users to vote on who they think won each category. These questions are ones like, "Who do you think won the debate?" and "Who seemed to know the most about the issues?" So the Thursday following the Republican debate, I logged onto CNN to vote and see what the rest of the nation had to say.
Boy, did I waste my time.
Out of the seven categories, Ron Paul had won six. The only category that he didn't win was "Who had the most disappointing performance." I was astounded.
I saw the debate. I watched every minute of it. I heard every answer. While the results were a mixed bag, I know one thing for certain: Ron Paul is a waste of my time and trivializes the entire debate process.
Paul has become quite popular with college kids. Somehow he's been anointed the candidate who speaks what Americans really believe and is representative of the college population zeitgeist.
Ron Paul refuses to recognize that progress is being made in Iraq and cannot understand the implications of just leaving Iraq suddenly. There were several times during the debate where I though John McCain was going to turn and slug Paul, who was positioned next to him.
One YouTube user asked Paul if he believed that the groundwork was being laid to create a North American Federation (one big country made up of Canada, the United States and Mexico). Paul managed to dance around the question, but in the end basically confirmed that he did believe this.
Ron Paul is the man who Rudy Giuliani went toe-to-toe with after Paul spewed 9/11 conspiracy theories at a past debate.
To put it in terms that most college kids would understand, Ron Paul is to this presidential election what Sanjaya was to last season of American Idol.

wow...
First of all it is an opinion on a college newspaper website. Second of all, of course there are going to be a blow up in hits because of: one, the topic and two, for putting it on dailypaul.com. Thank you for doing that. :). Before you subscribe to the dailypaul.com it says "Please be aware that this is not a public forum, it is a private club dedicated to putting Ron Paul in the White House." This site is to promote him... of course... It's funny to see that the post brings a college kids opinion in a college newspaper and website this much attention and concern.
I also agree with 'just a college kid' there is no such thing as bad press, it is how it is dealt with.
I hope everyone was entertained with 'xapis' bio.. thanks for info kid or adult if your 29... congrats on the happy life.
If your supporting Ron Paul great... if you are supporting others great. But if you are dumb enough to get information of a website promoting one person, haha im sorry just give up. Try reading both sides, it is already bias enough just trying to get that info. But welcome to campaigning. Who ever wins is usually then one who spins information the best.
For all those posting, work on posting where there may be conflict in post instead of jumping on the band wagon on a bias site where you know you will be "right" no matter what is written. I know i know you will ask the question why did i post then... well it's pure entertainment for me reading this crap. So thanks for a fun night.

Mine is as follows ...
I would assume you are less educated than the average college student or you just blindly believe what they tell you on TV. The reason college students like Ron Paul so much is because they are taught to "Study" things out - not just trust what gets fed to them via TV.
I am a 43 y/o, male, Republican that voted for both George Bush's. I was a BYU Political Science in the 80's. If you had of voted for Bush, then you SHOULD like Ron Paul. Bush ran on a "Humble foreign policy", "Small Federal Government", "Staying out of war", "Fiscal Responsibility" - remember that is what Republicans stand for - or at least they did.
Go back 8 years and look at what Bush SAID he would do as president - then look at what he really did - then you will think Mitt Romney has no Flip-Flop history compared to Bush.
I am still a Republican - the old style - small Federal Government, strong national defense (not world wide offense), Fiscally responsible style of Republican. Where do you find one of those Republican outside of Ron Paul. No Sir - Ron Paul is not out of step with the party - the other candidates no longer represent the Republican party!
Ron Paul has never mentioned
Ron Paul has never mentioned a 9/11 conspiracy theory in the debates... what is this mental midget smoking...
I got mine in too, I get so

College population zeitgeist, eh?
Let me give you a quick bio of a man who was converted to the Ron Paul revolution just a few weeks ago — me.
I am 29 years old. I am a white, Protestant Christian. I have been married over 10 years. I am a father of two children (ages 4 and 2) with another child on the way. I work full-time for a Fortune-500 company and have been employed there for more than six years. I am pursuing a four-year degree (part-time) at a major university via their distance learning program. I am not a "spambot" and, yes, I voted in that poll.
By my bio and according to the Establishment and the mainstream media, I should probably be voting for Mike Huckabee, Barack Obama, or Rudy Giuliani. But I do not share their values (if what they claim as their values really are their values). I look at Ron Paul and I see integrity (married to the same women more than 50 years, delivered more than 4,000 babies as an OB/GYN). I see consistency (check his voting record from his 10 terms in Congress). I see honesty (rife with more "logic and truth" than one could ever expect from someone who's been in Washington for 20 years). I see a man who does not base his views on "popular opinion," swaying any way the wind blows. Ron Paul is not your typical politician and all who like "politics as usual" (as you seem to be strongly advocating) seem to be quite afraid of the tidal wave of change he is bringing to America's political process. I say God bless him! This country is in desperate need of a President who will have the best interests of Her sovereignty and Her people in mind every waking moment of every day. Ron Paul is that man. ¡Viva la Constitución!
Some call it a revolution. I call it conscientious, informed, and passionate participation in a political process that has, until now, long been conducive of nothing more than apathy and contempt by a large chunk of America's voting-age populace.
Love us or hate us, we are here to stay.

Bill, the problem is you are still seeing events through old style lenses.
The time where crowded rooms of cronies can call the Federal Reserve and print money out of thin air and charge it to the taxpayer is over.
Our soldiers will no longer take over foreign countries to protect oil because our government will not get out of the energy management business, causing shortfalls.
Since 1971 when they unhooked gold from the dollar and created fiat money, they have racked up 9 Trillion dollars in debt and 60 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities. A credit card with no limit - who will pay it off?
Except there is a limit and we have reached it. Now the dollar is shrinking and the economy is about to collapse. The game is up.
The rule of law is paid lip service and the Constitution is an 'anachronism' and 'just a piece of paper', according to those in charge.
Only Ron Paul correctly identifies all these problems and who shows us the way to a solution: follow the rule of law and the constitution. Once you achieve that awareness it becomes obvious why Ron Paul supporters are energized and their numbers growing.
The future is Ron Paul and his ideas. The past is over, but it will be many decades before the price has been paid for all the arrogance of the past. See this and join us or get out the way.
When you see the Ron Paul Blimp flying overhead this month you will know it is held up there by the combined efforts of thousands of us and we will not be dissuaded; the future is freedom and the past will be piled upon the ash heap of history as they say.
Come join us! Run, Ron Paul, Run!

Ron Paul - Lion of the Constitution

You poor, ignorant and blind, little man.
I do not mean "ignorant" as an insult, but as in it's definition: "without knowledge."
My advice for you is to take your own advice...research the candidates. Further, the NAU is not a theory. It is verifiable via US, Canadian, and Mexican media. The leaders of these nations are following in the footsteps of the EU, which started off with the BeNeLux nations signing their initial trade agreement (search that one out and you can see the steps they took, the same that we are currently taking - NAFTA, SPP, etc).
As a member of the press, you have the obligation (and the honor) of presenting the facts. Your job (or dishonor) is NOT to sway public opinion.
Good luck educating yourself...I hope you will.

Sorry, but that article made me laugh. He discredits his whole tirade with his last sentence. Maybe, the author should do just research prior to generating some absurd attack. This article exemplifies the ingorance on those that wish to attack Ron Paul on certain issues.
Ron Paul Saying The United States
being in the middle east is a conspiracy theory ? Wow, thats one hell of a stretch .

It's an opinion piece and he's entitled to it, however, he's super wrong.
I think he wrote the piece so he can get more traffic on the internet and/or trying out for a job at a mainstream media network.
I wish I could cut of his
I wish I could cut of his limbs and then put salt on the wounds.
