Ron Pauls good health care idea wont ever survive (EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULD)
Apparently, it doesn't take 1990 pages to write legislation that actually does something for US, instead of just expanding government and rewarding special interests!

Ron Paul, the libertarian congressman from Texas, whom nobody ever confused with a me-too Republican, has proposed a health care reform that deserves the name "reform."
It's almost certain not to get anywhere, though. Which might be a mercy. Americans might risk broken arms reaching for it too fast.
It's this. Whatever a family has to pay for the doctor, the hospital, the pills or the shots, it could deduct on their federal tax return.
Get that? A 100 percent tax credit on health care costs. Socialized medicine turned inside out, you might say.
Instead of the government taking care of us, we take care of ourselves. And by just that amount, lowering our tax bills.
The screams in Washington might be heard clear to Pittsburgh, where the congressman who marches to his own drummer grew up in suburban Munhall. Pangs of tax starvation would grip the Treasury. Rep. Paul, a retired physician, would treat that malady by putting Uncle Sam on a severe spending diet. In short, a snowball's chance.
Yet his proposed H.R. 1495, the Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act of 2009 is a useful exercise. It demonstrates how market forces might yet rope in the inflation that's stampeding toward socialism.
Recall how irritating it is at income tax time to find you can deduct medical expenses only over 7.5 percent of income? Paul would abolish that threshold. All medical costs, including for high-deductible insurance tied a Health Savings Account (HSA), would go toward a tax credit. And the credit could be refunded against payroll taxes, letting low-wage workers in on it.
Other freedom enhancements are written into Paul's legislative initiatives that news media ought to, but rarely give, a mention.
For instance, his Freedom from Unnecessary Litigation Act (H.R. 1498). The lawyers' lobby invariably swats down all efforts at tort reform. Paul would go around them with a tax credit for "negative outcomes insurance." The patient might buy it before surgery. Bad result, the policy pays off. The system as a whole would save untold billions in insurance liability costs for doctors and hospitals. Plus the vast waste of "defensive" medicine's excessive testing. And the loss of physician talent by early retirements in disgust.

I'll bump.
This is actually a very clever plan, because what it actually does, is create a condition where the individual is paying for his own care, but does it with money that the gov't has been stealing out of his paycheck.
It's kind of like a "reverse tax" or a "tax on gov't deductions from your pay".
Of course, it's not as good as eliminating payroll taxes totally,but it does nibble around the edges,and presents an opportunity to cut into the amount that they steal from you, with a hot-button topic that is currently in play.
It is a way to keep the money in the private sector, and wrests some of the power away from gov't, and frees-up money for people that would otherwise have cut into their take-home pay when they had to go to the doctor, or be taken by more payroll tax to fund gov't operated health care.
It's a clever twist to turn the tables on gov't, to a certain small and limited degree.

Sometimes we need to make compromises in order to meet in the middle and effect change. Small steps... the 1st step of a 100 mile journey and all that, you know. The all or nothing mentality has no place in a reform strategy that has so much work ahead of it.

The way I see it... If Ron Paul told his staff to get to work on it,,, we would be doing what we did for 1207.
I don't know why it is not being offered.. I like it. I admire you for promoting it, I promoted it... but when it's DOA here besides a few of us.. somwthing is up and I'd say it hs to do with Ron Paul.
I've listened to his videos very carefully about this, and while I get the idea he would like us to work on it... it goes nowhere, and because of that ONE issue... I have my doubts about the rEVOLution evolving past 2012, or even through it...
To me, Ron Paul's healthcare bill was personally better for me than ending the fed, and I think, that's true for most here whether they realize that ot not.

The one issue: Healthcare
Healthcare is a HUGE issue on the left, especially between Democrats and Greens. Liberals, while the GOP anti- anything Democratic Party is merely entertainment for the MSM.
Ron Paul being a medical doctor is a huge advantage over so many congresscritters becuse he can speack on this issue from experience.
His Ending The Fed is not what America is talking so much as healthcare, and we are nowhere on healthcare. Most people have no clue Ron Paul has a bill.
Those who would support it, alternative medicine, needs to have some security on the issue and there's none... so for me.. this healthcare issue, is a symptom of what is going to be the end of the revolution, because grassroots appears to be VERY LIMITED, and this would not be an accident anymore than hundreds of delegate ballots being buried in the Peppermill vault for over a year...

I didn't even know Ron Paul had a healthcare bill, and I'm on this site almost every day! That's why, when I saw this thread, I jumped all over it . It just makes so much more sense than anything else I've seen... but nobody is talking about it. Like Belle said above - we need to get it out there wherever people can see it. But for some reason, "we" are not even bumping it on this site... and we haven't been, evidently, since its inception (whenever that was), even though there have been a lot of other plans batted around and debated here for months. I don't get it - but I've sent the information out to everyone I can think of. I just hope everyone else does, too. It's the perfect solution at this time, and it would be such a shame if it were left behind because of a lack of exposure.

Support H.R. 1495 the Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act
of 2009, which provides all Americans with a tax credit for 100% of health care expenses, a tax credit for premiums for high-deductible insurance policies connected with a Health Savings Account( HSA) and allows seniors to use fund in an HSA to pay for a medigap policy, as well as making all medical expenses tax deductible.
H.R. 2629, a bill that prevents the government from requiring people purchase health insurance
H.R. 3217 (Cong. Shadegg) which permits the purchase of health insurance across state lines and will ultimately lower costs due to the resulting competition
I sent this information to the House Financial Services Committee yesterday after I sent the faxes to restore the original words to H.R. 1207!
