₪ Flattery got me somewhere. (But where?)
Dear Rep. Mike Honda:
I write to extend my hearty congratulations on passage of the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, as part of the National Defense Authorization Act. All true patriots know that nothing is more threatening to our national defense than what people are thinking when they commit crimes. Juries must be empowered to make that determination. The cost of complicated prosecution and enhanced detainment for thinking evil while committing evil is money well borrowed. Longer sentences mean bigger prison populations, which translate directly into badly needed jobs in the incarceration industry.
I urge you not to become complacent. Congress must not rest until all crimes, regardless of which voting block the victim belongs to, are legally classified as hate crimes. While this important legislation extended unequal protection under the law to the disabled and trans-gendered, it is vitally important that all people be given unequal protection under the law.
Yours truly,
Jive Dadson

Dear Mr. Dadson:
Thank you for writing to me in support of my work in Congress. I appreciate hearing from the people I represent, and I am glad to hear that you support my voting record.
As the Representative for the people of the 15th Congressional District of California, I work hard to represents the views and beliefs of my constituency. I am pleased to hear that you support the progressive legislation that I have advocated for since being elected in 2000. I will continue fighting for the people of our district and for the causes which we both support.
Thank you, once again, for writing to me. Your opinions help shape the way I represent our district.
Sincerely,
Michael M. Honda
Member of Congress
