The recent local elections show, US President’s Barack Obama’s approval rating continues to decline. The frustration of failed promises is pushing many to look for alternative candidates, US political observers told RT.
Ron Paul, a Libertarian candidate for the 2012 presidency, seems to be riding the wave of Obama’s waning popularity and the American public’s increasing disillusionment with the two party system.
He is using this opportunity to get a head start in the election race.

If Ron Paul runs
I hope he runs as an independent like Ross Perot. The Libertarian Party has a lot of baggage for Ron Paul to carry. The party platform would have to be explained constantly as well as the people who attend the Libertarian Party Convention. To call some of these folks eccentric is to be kind.
Do whatever the law requires and no more, keeping it simple by running on a few important issues. Forget a party platform.

We have the chance to 'retake' the party. If liberty candidates win house seats as Republicans we have the best chance to change course and history.
Third party will not work and our chances are greater at reshaping the GOP.
I will not vote L or C. I will only support those that understand the system and how best to change it.

Last time RP had delegates stolen, wasn't allowed to speak at the convention, wasn't allowed at debates, ignored at debates. If all this can be changed the GOP is the best alternative.
I'm not talking about forming a third party, wouldn't want to put RP in the position to have to support some crazy candidate. Just do the minimum to get on the ballot as an independent. Forget party building.

how about the baggage the Republican Party carries. To say that the people who have attend the Republican Party Convention are criminals is to be kind.
Adopting freedom is the whole point of getting Ron Paul elected. If you have a problem with most of the Libertarian party platform, then I seriously doubt that you support freedom.
