student loans
what is ron paul's opinion on student loans? Is he against students from taking them out? I am a recently graduated college student, and was thinking on taking out another loan of about 43 grand for more school, and I am not sure if I should do this or not. If he is against taking out student loans, what is his advice for paying for college? thanks

Student loans are a bad idea.
A local community college is affordable. Pay for it as you go.
Paul opposes federally subsidized loans, and personally opposes debt, but he also believes that individuals know what is best for them.
It is up to you.
Just remember, at some point, you have to pay the piper.

Against
He has said he would not let any of his 5 children take these loans, and I believe helped put them all through college (and medical school!).
On the other hand, he does vote to put in earmarks for his constituents, since they have money taken from them, and deserve to get it back. Of course, he votes against the bill the earmarks are attached to, but when they pass anyway, his people are taken care of.
All I can say is, if you borrow from me, you sure as heck better pay me back! It's bad enough money is stolen from me to fund others against my will, but if you take the money, I shouldn't have to pay your interest, collection costs, and defaults, too!

Ive heard a little lately
Ive heard a little lately about how student loans used to never be needed because the price of college was so much less that small private loans and saving over time could pay for it....then the government stepped in and gave free money out and all the colleges did was raise the price so that the only people who lost were the people it was supposed to help.
