Update: The Shooter Is Alive and Linked to 911!

Anothe one of those damned coincidences.
May the thirteen dead rest in peace with all of the others.

Fort Hood shooting: Texas army killer linked to September 11 terrorists
Major Nidal Malik Hasan worshipped at a mosque led by a radical imam said to be a "spiritual adviser" to three of the hijackers who attacked America on Sept 11, 2001.

Hasan, the sole suspect in the massacre of 13 fellow US soldiers in Texas, attended the controversial Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as two of the September 11 terrorists, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt. His mother's funeral was held there in May that year.

The preacher at the time was Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born Yemeni scholar who was banned from addressing a meeting in London by video link in August because he is accused of supporting attacks on British troops and backing terrorist organizations.

Hasan's eyes "lit up" when he mentioned his deep respect for al-Awlaki's teachings, according to a fellow Muslim officer at the Fort Hood base in Texas, the scene of Thursday's horrific shooting spree.

As investigators look at Hasan's motives and mindset, his attendance at the mosque could be an important piece of the jigsaw. Al-Awlaki moved to Dar al-Hijrah as imam in January, 2001, from the west coast, and three months later the September 11 hijackers Nawaf al-Hamzi and Hani Hanjour began attending his services. A third hijacker attended his services in California.

Hasan was praying at Dar al-Hijrah at about the same time, and the FBI will now want to investigate whether he met the two terrorists.

Charles Allen, a former under-secretary for intelligence at the Department of Homeland Security, has described al-Awlaki, who now lives in Yemen, as an "al-Qaeda supporter, and former spiritual leader to three of the September 11 hijackers... who targets US Muslims with radical online lectures encouraging terrorist attacks from his new home in Yemen".

Last night Hasan remained in a coma under guard at a military hospital in San Antonio, Texas, and was said to be in a "stable" condition. Born in America to a Palestinian family, Hasan, 39, was an army psychiatrist who had chosen to sign up for the US military against his parents' wishes.

But he turned into an angry critic of the wars America was waging in Iraq and Afghanistan and had tried in vain to negotiate his discharge.

He counselled soldiers returning from the front line and told relatives that he was horrified at the prospect of a deployment to Afghanistan later this year – his first time in a combat zone.

Actually

the fort hood shooter is linked to Blacks burg virginia. Same as his fellow class mate who gunned down all those Virgina Tech students.

Manchurian Candidates are real..

something stinks

so a guy who was dead, is now alive, w/ connections to 9/11. The FBI has been "watching him", What's next, he knows about a plan that involves Iran and we must invade now for our own safety?

Yeah, this almost seems designed to make Americans hate Muslims!

And further their support for the illegal invasions of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

And possibly the invasion of Iran.

This is nothing compared to the 9/11 bullshit.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

What hogwash BS

This sounds, smells and feels like government propaganda. I think this guy flew to the moon also in the 60's(joke). This reeks of a scheme to demonize muslims even more. Scaremongering at its best. This story can't get any stranger. I think I have woke up in bazarro amerika. What a great way to get us all off of the health care vote. Sounds like a Manchurian candidate to me? Hmmm

And I am sure that the government already has the solution...

for us to quickly agree to... for our own safety and protection of course.

Here are some articles saying there were 3 shooters

http://aftermathnews.word...

(CNN) — A senior officer who was playing golf Thursday near Fort Hood, Texas, told CNN he witnessed the arrest of one of the two surviving suspects of the shooting at the Army installation.

Shortly after the shooting, the officer said, military police told him to clear the course and he saw other MPs surround the building that held the golf carts, he said.

The senior officer said he ducked into a nearby house for cover as 30 to 40 cars carrying MPs approached.

He said he saw a soldier in battle-dress uniform, his hands in the air. The MPs ordered him to lie on the ground and open his uniform, presumably to ensure he was not carrying explosives, the senior officer said.

He said an MP told him that authorities considered the man to be a suspect in the shootings after having overheard the man say he was with the shooter.

The man was surrounded for 25 to 30 minutes, until a convoy of vehicles arrived, led by a Ford Crown Victoria and carrying men in suits, and he was taken away, the senior officer said.

The golf course is about 2.5 miles from Fort Hood, the officer told CNN.

Did they ever put out

how many were civilian and how many were military?

UK: "security shocking at base"

Fort Hood shooting: security shocking at base, says British Army pilot
A former British Army helicopter pilot who was stationed at the Fort Hood base in Texas said the security breaches which allowed Maj Nidal Malik Hasan to go on a shooting spree were "absolutely shocking".
By Nick Squires
Published: 11:24AM GMT 06 Nov 2009

Retired Major Jim Panton, who flew Apache helicopters with the Army Air Corps at Fort Hood between 1993 and 1996, said the victims would have believed they were in the "safest place they could possibly be whilst in uniform".

"Ford Hood is perceived as being even safer than normal because of its size and scale," he said.

The vast compound houses almost 50,000 servicemen and women with a further 17,000 family members also living on site.

Mr Panton said: "It is absolutely shocking because you'd assume that if you were inside your base, in your own country, you would be in the safest place you possibly be whilst in uniform."

He described the building where the shootings took place. "It is big and open. When I was at Ford Hood it used to be a huge leisure centre with sports facilities and fast food restaurants – imagine a sports dome, almost the size of a football pitch.

"(The gunman) would have had a lot of people in sight. If someone was carrying concealed weapons and pulled them out in there it would be very difficult to take cover. It is quite disturbing to picture the scene."

Mr Panton, who is now chief executive of Erskine, a Scottish charity that provides nursing and medical care to armed forces veterans, added that the shootings raised important questions about the mental health of troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

"We need to ask how many tours this individual has done. (He had not done any overseas.)

with over 30 injured

you would think there would have been some video interviews of them saying what they experienced

InnerG:UK Telegraph has a CNN video of him at convenience store.

Look at this! I cannot get the video to work on my computer. It that him dressed in white Muslim garb on the same day? I don't know.

http://www.telegraph.co.u...

vid works for me - thanks for the link

right after this happened the injured witnesses would be the key ppl for reporters to interview and find out what happened

I mean 30 injured is a alot and I can't find one of their voices nor even find out if they were all military or what

the longer this goes the more muddled it all will get

the injured are the key imo

FORT HOOD, Texas — The base commander at Fort Hood says soldiers who witnessed a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire at the Texas post.

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone told NBC's "Today" show on Friday that suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, made the comment, which is Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage Thursday that also left 30 people wounded.

He was in a section of the barracks

that was more like an office atmosphere. My S/W can hold 16 bullets in a clip, 4 clips = 64 rounds. Remember this guy was in the military and most likely had better than average aim when puling the trigger.

I don't know

He was in the military but he was a psychiatrist, not someone who would typically have extensive combat training. If he had normal mags, 16-18 rounds, he would have had to reload at least once. Now maybe he had two Glock-17's with Glock-18 mags, 33 rounds each, but still, hitting 42 trained targets with 66 rounds would be amazing in my book.

This is too weird.

Does anyone else wonder how a psychiatrist could kill 12 soldiers and wound 31, with only two handguns.

I'm sure there will be a reason for it by tomorrow...

+...Pray for Your Enemies and Moral Courage for Righteous Leaders, so that Justice Will Be Delivered to the Innocent...+

I was thinking the same thing

he shot almost 50 people with 2 handguns before anyone reacted? on a military base?

Doesn't add up.

agreed

That is beyond belief, maybe in a mall but not a military base with targets who are trained.

There is definitely much more to this. Think Waco cover up.

The shooter treated PTSD patients?

A link to PTSD?
Last update: November 5, 2009 - 9:01 PM

Thursday's deadly rampage raises a red flag over the issue of combat stress.

The suspected gunman, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, worked on that very issue at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS), which assesses the behavioral and psychological risks of traumatic events, such as combat, terrorism, natural disasters and public health threats.

The most common disorder linked to combat stress is post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which can develop after exposure to one or more traumatic events that threatened or caused great physical harm.

In this case, however, the suspect has not been in combat but instead was facing deployment into a combat zone.

Having counseled returning soldiers with PTSD, first at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington and more recently at Fort Hood, Hasan knew all too well the terrifying realities of war, his cousin Nader Hasan told the New York Times.

did you see the officials gave him a bad review post below?

Military officials say Hasan, 39, was a psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before being transferred to the Texas base in July. The officials, who had access to Hasan's military record, said he received a poor performance evaluation while at Walter Reed.

Bad is good in Newspeak....and for the Army also.

This is beyond poor and can't pass the sniff test.

"security authorities have been planning for and dreading"

(remember that this was written on November 5th, from the UK, and they are 8 hours ahead of us.)

http://timesonline.typepa...

A soldier turning on his comrades at Fort Hood, an Afghan policeman killing the British soldiers who trained him - two uncannily similar events in two days, but incidents which, across the Western world, security authorities have been planning for and dreading.

Since the Mumbai attacks counter-terrorism planning has seen a major shift. Those charged with thwarting or reacting to future terror attacks were alarmed by Mumbai. The shootings in Afghanistan and Fort Hood carry echoes of the atttacks in India with the added danger that the enemy has come from within.

The new-style of attack relies not on the suicide bomb, or the al-Qaeda adherence to massive casualties, but on the shock of a gunman, or a handful of gunmen, opening fire in a place where people felt safe and secure - the luxury hotel, the police base, the US Army camp.

Lord West, the Security Minister, told a Commons committee last month that the prospect of such an attack in Britain was at the forefront of his mind. The minister said he and his team were "doing a lot of work" on "the Mumbai issue". He painted a bleak (and rather prophetic) picture of what might happen: "It is extremely difficult in an open society to stop there being initial casualties, if you have some men who have been trained to military standard, three or four of them, with relatively heavy weapons.

"The damage they can cause in the first few minutes is dramatic. One has to use other methods of intelligence and the agencies and all of these sorts of things; because if it gets to the stage where they are actually on their 159 bus going up Whitehall carrying that [firepower] you have got a problem."

Army Just Promoted Captain Nidal Malik Hasan
By Black Hills Today

Nidal Malik HasanMajor Nidal Malik Hasan - Shooter and Killer at Ft. Hood Texas was just promoted in May of 2009 to Major reports US Army Times

The Army major suspected of opening fire on soldiers as they were preparing to deploy overseas at the massive Fort Hood military base in central Texas Thursday was an Army psychiatrist who recently completed training in treating traumatic stress disorder at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in the nation's capital.

Is this info another one of those coincidences?

Nidal Hasan: Ft. Hood Shooter Participated in Homeland Security Disaster Preparation

The gunman who killed 12 people today at Ft. Hood appears, based on current media reports, to be Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan who was listed as a participant in a Homeland Security Policy Institute's presidential transition task force last year.

The task force was not officially affiliated with the White House. It was a project of the Homeland Security Policy Institute, an independent thinktank housed at George Washington University, aimed at drafting policy recommendations for the incoming Obama administration.

According to the task force's May 2009 report [pdf], a "Nidal Hasan" from the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine was a task force event participant. Other participants included Senate and House staffers, Department of Homeland Security officials, Defense Department officials, and reporters for Politico, the Washington Post, and the London Times.

McClatchy reports that Maj. Malik Nidal Hasan attended "training in disaster and preventive psychiatry at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine, Bethesda, Md.," and his Virginia medical board license lists his name as "Nidal Malik Hasan," reversing the first two names of the identity reported so far and spelling "Nidal" differently than earlier reports did. (The New York Times is now reporting that his name is, in fact, Nidal Malik Hasan). So it seems likely that the "Nidal Hasan" affiliated with Uniformed Services University (USU) listed as a task force participant, the "Nidal Malik Hasan" listed by Virginia's state medical board as practicing psychiatry at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and by reported by McLatchy as having studied at USU, and the "Malik Nadal Hasan" who practiced psychiatry at Walter Reed identified in various media reports as the shooter are all the same person. Or were the same person.

Hasan's name is also listed in a July 2008 USU newsletter [pdf] as having graduated the Master of Public Health Program in June of last year.

WAIT! Which shooter?

Are we talking about Ft. Hood? I didn't realize that he was dead in the first place. I thought there were 3 guys involved.

The first shooter. The other two were released.

There is suppose to be another person arrested. No word about that.

They reported him dead for about 6 hours

The army general even stated it he was dead and they identified him by name within an hour of the shootings ..then 6 hours later after they had originally identified him and said he was dead... suddenly he is alive in stable condition. The other two suspects were released.

How can you identify someone and NOT realize that he is alive???

thanks

here is an article that I saw today - which has already been changed. I thought the inclusion of a bad review was a nice touch as well as not knowing what his religion is...don't you have to have on record what your religion is when in the military...your know in case you get popped and they can send in the guy to read the last rites in the correct fashion?

Any how here's what I had cut and pasted from earlier today.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/a...

Military officials say Hasan, 39, was a psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before being transferred to the Texas base in July. The officials, who had access to Hasan's military record, said he received a poor performance evaluation while at Walter Reed. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because military records are confidential.

The Virginia-born soldier was single with no children. He graduated from Virginia Tech, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001. At Walter Reed, he did his internship, residency and a fellowship.

Officials were investigating whether Hasan was his birth name or if he may have changed his name, possibly as part of a conversion to Islam. However, they were not certain of his religion.

Oop

He's a biochemist?
