To help close yet another gaping budget deficit, now estimated to be $7 billion this year and reach as high as $20 billion next, Sacramento lawmakers have authorized a 10% increase in the amount of taxes withheld from worker paychecks starting November 1 and through 2010. The extra withholding tax will reduce Californians' take-home pay by about $1.7 billion for the year. But the lawmakers say this isn't a tax increase. OK, how about calling it a compulsory interest-free loan from taxpayers to the state?

california is the land of dianne feinstein, barbara boxer and nancy pelosi also known as arrogant, arrogant and more arrogant. i don't know of one person who likes them and yet they manage to be voted in over and over again. our legislature has been lobbied into oblivion. the spending is heinously over the top, they have no respect for their constituents with one of the most glaring examples being dianne feinstein standing on the senate floor stating she had received 91000 phone calls concerning the bailout last year 85000 of them against the bailout but she voted for it anyway. i sometimes daydream about them being drug off to prison for their unconstitutional acts, i hope it happens in my lifetime.

among other things, has finally pushed me over the edge - high california salaries at this point, given the cost of living and the taxes, is actually no longer financially beneficial over just moving somewhere 'poor' and making 30% less.

I swear, I can't stand government.... It's such a drain on society. It sucks the life out of an economy.
