Sad day for America

Joseph Cao’s (R, LA-02) was the lone Republican voting for it.

This is not breaking news, this is broken news. This is suppose

For some reason, we're expected to know every law that exists in America & in our state so we don't break it. We're supposed to know this when we're 18. There's no litmus test for them, as in the 10 commandments or rhyme or reason. C.U.R.E. Thank God

to fix broken knowses. I stand by my original statement, the words health care don't appear in our constitution. If you give your doctor a fake birthdate, remember it! Does this mean we can elect to have Dr. Paul deliver our babies, or can the physicians opt out?

This bill demonstrates

the tyranny of the democracy like no other.

5! votes determine whether the government can force citizens to purchase health insurance. What a travesty.

sackcloth and ashes . . .

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I am fasting today.

All this means is the revolution will be that much sooner...

They really should have taken all the guns before they rammed this down... this will be the last straw... mark my words, if they ram this through the Senate the people will not accept it.
The Liberty a society retains is inversely proportional to the number of Lawyers in the Government.

I don't buy it

The American people are too stupid to do anything about it.
They will accept it and complain and piss and moan while listening to Rush Limbaugh talk about Republicans and Democrats .

Most of those people are more interested in how good the Saints are playing ball than if we are now a Socialist country....

For Freedom!

My guess is that being in a gerrymandered dem district

Cao thought he had to cast that vote to protect himself for the general election in November. What he failed to realize was that he is not likely to survive any serious Republican challenger in the party primary because of it. Cao was predicted to be a one-termer. He has just sealed the deal. His only chance for salvation from this blunder would be that the Senate fails to pass the bill, and it is mostly forgotten come election time.

He probably doesn't care either.

grant

Does anyone know

What was the volume of constituent calls/faxes/e-mails to Congress before the vote, and what was the ratio of pro versus con?

US Senate is far more globalist controlled that the HoR

and they will pass this. The only real hope is the challenges in the Supreme Court that this bill passage is going to generate.

The SCOTUS will be forced to interpret the applicability of this bill and its interpretation in regards to the Constitution as time moves on. You can bank on that.

And even if the SCOTUS upholds the bill and shuns the Constitution, at least they will have been forced to do it in public view.

This still has to pass the Senate right?????

I am so angry right now! I tried to watch them "debate" yesterday and had to turn it off. My brain was about to pop. To hear those traiters claim what they are doing is for the American people's good is just to much. I was yelling with injustice every other minute. Now this morning my heart and spirit are so heavy...
Correct me if I am wrong, but, this still has to pass the Senate though right??? I know it probably doesn't mean anything, but we can still hold on to a tiny shred of hope right? Please say it is so.

yes, and here's a bit of "hopeful" analysis on that ~

Is this the high-water mark for ObamaCare?

... Now the focus swings to the Senate, where Harry Reid will have to gain supermajorities at least twice to allow the bill to proceed to a final vote. That seems unlikely, although not impossible. The process will slow down considerably from the jam-down Pelosi conducted in the lower chamber, perhaps even to a crawl if Tom Coburn makes good on his threat to have the bill read in its entirety on the Senate floor. That will leave plenty of time for ObamaCare opponents to find all of the taxes, mandates, and government intrusions that will make it even less popular as it sits in the Senate. Even before Coburn’s threat, Democrats had pushed expectations for the bill out to late January — which makes the politics of the bill even more fraught for Democrats, at the start of an election year ...

I wonder, will the Senate's failure to pass the bill be used

as an excuse for a remake of the Senate even more egregious than the 17th amendment?

Will the Senate perhaps be shifted to being appointed by the President? or the "party" that "wins" the national elections? These ideas have been floated before by morons who do not understand our Constitution. I fear they will use the failure of this bill in the Senate, to begin such a push.

Perceived failure to address economic issues and cronyism and corruption were the big push for an elected Senate. I shudder to see what they will attempt this time under similar circumstances.

I Suppose....

Acorn will be heading this up as well?? Maybe since it is such a large project they will have to involve the Purple Shirts (SEIU) also. America, we are doomed unless we wake up, stand up, and take back our once great Country. Get these people out of OUR house!!! I am tired of being called un-American, Astroturf, Redneck and whatever this Pelosi feels she can call the backbone of this country. Without us Redneck, Astroturf, un-Americans she would not have a paycheck. We need to vote these people out of office, fire them. 18 states have the legislation to basically impeach these people. We need to start it and start it now. We may lose so-called "good" politicians if we fire everyone but are they not a little corrupt as well? Overhaul Congress.

secede

.

To those who think good eating and exercise solves all.

Some of us without insurance by losing our jobs in the economy and trying to get another one have genectic conditions such as Type I diabetes... do you have any idea the cost of treatment ... any... I am for Ron Paul in may things but cannot hold to the idea that health care should be a god given right. If its not in the constitution would not the party of life put it in?? No flames just another take on it ... from someone who knows ...

Ron Paul's Solution

http://www.operationhealt...

“Campaign for Liberty believes America's health care system is in desperate need of reform, but current proposals only cement the status quo by mandating further government interference and requiring Americans to either carry a government-approved plan or surrender more of their hard-earned money to the IRS.

There is a real alternative to yielding more power over our lives to Washington: implementing a plan centered on freedom, choice, and faith in the American taxpayers that they know how to spend their money better than some unelected bureaucrat.

In pursuit of this alternative, Campaign for Liberty is proud to unveil our Health Freedom Plan.

Our package includes legislation introduced by Congressman Ron Paul and Congressman John Shadegg. The cornerstone is Ron Paul's H.R. 1495, the Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act of 2009, which provides all Americans with a tax credit for 100% of health care expenses, a tax credit for premiums for high-deductible insurance policies connected with a Health Savings Account (HSA), and allows seniors to use funds in an HSA to pay for a medigap policy. In addition, it makes all medical expenses tax deductible.”

Feeling your pain somewhat

Personally I am not diabetic but my wife and 15 yo daughter are. I know what medications cost WITH insurance and is quite expensive. On top of the diabetes my daughter is ADHD and bi-polar so more medications and doctor's visits. I don't think this healthcare bill is the answer. The money to fund it will have to come from somewhere, that is what people do not want to realize. Something will suffer (Medicare) because of it or taxes will be increased. A congressman made a point last night on CSPAN that "we will save billions of dollars". And that will be a t a cost of 1.4 trillion??? Sorry my bank does not understand me when I write a trillion dollar check with only billions of dollars in the bank! But I guess the government cannot be out of money because they still have checks left. One of the problems with healthcare and the expense of medicine goes right back to government bureaucracy. Why do we pay $3.49 for a pill it costs $.29 to manufacture? Because it costs the manufacturer so much money to research and develop it we are told. What costs is getting the FDA to approve it. The manufacturer passes this on to us the consumer. It is the same in anything the government can get their hands on. We do not need the government running our healthcare. Look at the Post Office as opposed to FedEx or UPS. Even the President himself admitted the government has messed of mailings too. Not to mention all the mandates that will be on our doctors and hospitals now. Why would anyone choose to be a doctor if they will not be able to run their practice like they choose? Isn't being able to run your company the way you choose free enterprise? I just feel this whole healthcare thing is a travesty and our government does not belong in it. If anything needs reforming it is the prices we are charged for medications, office visits, etc. Why does it cost $4.79 for a $.19 band-aid when you have insurance at the hospital. If you don;t have insurance it is a different (lower) price. This is at our local government funded hospital and I'm sure it's like that elsewhere. What will it be like when it is 100% government run healthcare everywhere?

I hear you

Though I agree with Ron Paul on many many things and support him without hesitation. Healthcare is a difficult issue. I've yet to hear Ron Paul say how the issue above would be solved....and this person isn't a lone wolf either.....there are MILLIONS of people in that boat. I'm all for free markets but there are things in life where I think free markets have no business being......

1. Military Weaponry......as long as there is a capitalistic free market enterprise as far as who makes bombs and jets and missles and things that go boom and kill many people........there will always be war........and more than likely fabricated war. If peace were profitable there wouldn't be any war.

2. Healthcare..... Making money based on humans beings health? Lots of problems here. Greed.....makes for the less fortunate to take a dirt nap before their time is due. How much are you willing to pay for a new heart? How much are you willing to pay to treat cancer? Just doesn't seem right that people make money in the same way they would make money selling an automobile as for saving your life because of something you had no fault in. I'm a Veteren and I go to the VA and of course I wish it was better....but a greed run free market run healthcare system is SINISTER at every turn.....and if you feel it's not you're either ignorant to the fact or don't have a problem turning a blind eye to it.

Ron Paul cannot tell you exactly

what a free market health care system would be like because it would be whatever people wanted it to be. There would be for-profits, not-for profits, mutual aid societies, charities, health contracts, and lots and lots of "alternative" treatments. I was born in a charity hospital run by some nuns in a small town. Due to all of the government money that has flowed into the field of health care, and due to the government controls that follow the money, charity hospitals are almost extinct.

The expense of our current system of healthcare is driven by complicated legal restrictions, mandates, and monopolies. Additionally, half of all money spent on healthcare comes from government, along with govenment strings, yet it is the MARKET that gets the blame for the expense and availability?

Nothing will make healthcare cheaper and more available than a marketplace created by free people. The options for providing and paying for care are limited only by the capacity of humans to dream up new solutions to problems.

Nothing will make healthcare more expensive (whether you pay for the service up front, or whether you pay round-about through taxes and uncreated wealth) than having healthcare decisions and money routed through a central authority.

Umm...

Dr. Paul is Dr. No. I don't know where they're getting all this Dr. Coburn- Dr. No business... I've never heard him called that. Sounds like the MSM is making a new GOP media darling... oh brother...

It says he was once close friends with Obama... beware the Bob Barr's of the world...

I know Tom...

he's my rep. He has been called the Dr No of the Senate, not to be confused with Dr. Paul, of course. We've been calling him Dr No for years in Oklahoma.

When I talked to him a few months ago his goal, in his words, is to ~kill this bill.~

He has certainly killed bills before... I have hope.

Tom Coburn – Dr. No | The Roundtable | Dec 2007

The Wall Street Journal has a good article about Senator Tom Coburn, who has blocked 90 bills in 2007. We should all be thankful to him for stopping wasteful projects.

Stopping stuff is Sen. Coburn’s specialty. In a Congress that has had trouble passing even the simplest legislation, Sen. Coburn, who proudly wears the nickname “Dr. No,” is a one-man gridlock machine. This year, the senator, who indeed is a medical doctor, single-handedly blocked or slowed more than 90 bills, driving lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to distraction.

The House Passes the Monstrosity

Damn Traitors!

"If it be asked what is to be the consequence, in case the Congress shall misconstrue this part of the Constitution, and exercise powers not warranted by its true meaning, I answer, the same as if they should misconstrue or enlarge any other power vested in them; as if the general power had been reduced to particulars, and any one of these were to be violated; the same, in short, as if the State legislatures should violate the irrespective constitutional authorities. In the first instance, the success of the usurpation will depend on the executive and judiciary departments, which are to expound and give effect to the legislative acts; and in the last resort a remedy must be obtained from the people who can, by the election of more faithful representatives, annul the acts of the usurpers. The truth is, that this ultimate redress may be more confided in against unconstitutional acts of the federal than of the State legislatures, for this plain reason, that as every such act of the former will be an invasion of the rights of the latter, these will be ever ready to mark the innovation, to sound the alarm to the people, and to exert their local influence in effecting a change of federal representatives. There being no such intermediate body between the State legislatures and the people interested in watching the conduct of the former, violations of the State constitutions are more likely to remain unnoticed and unredressed." --James Madison Federalist Papers n44

Just think of it as being on the equivalent of the Bataan Death

March, only the road we are on is away from freedom toward totalitarianism, one new law at a time.

But look at the bright side. The more pain government inflicts upon us, the sooner it will become intolerable, creating much more incentive for revolution.

How big is the bill now and

How big is the bill now and how many have read it in congress and who wrote it?

1,990 pages plus 200+ pages of who knows what!

These additional pages were slipped into the bill at the last moment by Pelosi.
They as yet have not been made public. Searches reveal nothing.

So no transparency? But Obama said...

This hasn't been the first time, likely won't be the last Pelosi and Obama lie, either.

Whatever happened to health education and good foods.

Even if I go to a government doctor, I can refuse the treatment.
But I am concerned of the millions of people that fall prey to bad foods and chemical pharmaceutical lies.

It is sad that so much pain and suffering could be avoided

with better knowledge of how to stay healthy without drugs and the medical establishment. Actually the knowledge is out there but people passively turn over their lives to "experts" and take what they dish out, instead of taking responsibility themselves.

I suppose it comes down to survival of the fittest, but still it is sad to see the carnage.

It is kin to Codex Alimentarius. A part of the plan.

A tax bill disguised as a health bill, to say the least.

Is the "health care" bill related to Codex Alimentarius? If so, how?

I will not comply. Put a tattoo on my arm and take me to jail.

I will not comply. Nancy come take me to jail, I am not hard to find. The ironic thing is that they will be forced to provide me with the same health care that I refuse to be forced to buy. And they will be forced to do it for free ! How insane is that ??????????????????

The silver lining in this horrendous cloud

is this:

Now, even more people will be receptive to the r3volution message. Shout it out loud and clear and often; there are eager ears everywhere.

Great point, fan.

Coburn threatening to have bill read on Senate floor

~

Sen. Tom Coburn, the Oklahoma Republican who developed a close friendship with President Obama when they served together in the Senate, is threatening to have the entire health care bill read on the Senate floor.

Senior Senate Democratic aides had heard Coburn was considering having potentially thousands of pages read aloud in effort to stall passage. “If he did this it would be even outrageous for a guy who’s become known as Dr. No around here,” one of them told POLITICO.

Coburn’s office confirmed that he is indeed thinking about having the bill read.

“That's a possibility,” Coburn spokesman John Hart said. “He wants to make sure everyone has a chance to read the bill.”

Coburn, who has a reputation for using procedural rules to block and delay ...
