What do you folks think about this JOEL OSTEEN character?
I hate to start a religious thread, because a lot of the time they turn into fights. I usually avoid them at all costs.
This morning though, I happened to watch a sermon given by Joel Osteen (sp?) .
He spoke of how focusing on fear instead of faith will bring negative things into your life. He also spoke of how you needed to get away from those type of people that were complaining about "the economy" ( an example he used specifically) He suggested that people not only needed to get away from those type of people, but to surround themselves with people that are of the "faith", and not living in fear.
I grew up in the Greek Orthodox religion, and am frankly distrusting of large organized religion. I think it is a system of control of the masses.
The folks that "preach" in stadiums to people, and have massive nationwide TV coverage, are even scarier to me.
What the sermon said to me was that quit worrying about all that stuff, you are a child of the most high God, that God has it all handled, and stay away from folks who think differently.
I would think that a person that has the ability to reach so many masses of people, would have a responsibility to speak out against evil. A responsibility to lead his "flock" to take a direct stand against evil wherever it exists. That he would have the discernment to see the who the PTB are, and how we are being manipulated by them.
His sermon to me seemed like he was re-enforcing denial, and that can't be a good thing.

Don't buy what this man sells.
You don't sell the word of YHWH. You give it. In case no one noticed we are living in the last days. The beast of revelations IS the UCC ( uniform commercial code, ie the law of commerce ) it has 7 heads and sits on many waters. Seven heads would be, Babylon, Egypt, Rome, Asia, Europe, The Americas, and the one world government, which is now being formed before our very eyes. Revelations talks of each head mirroring the one before it ( system of commerce ) many waters is international, ie the law of commerce. Mans law, not YHWH laws. The beast will rise thru the judicial system. Is he already here? Do we not have a constitutional lawyer in the highest office?
All communist countries have the UCC. They also have lawyers, for commerce. If you are falsely accused in a communist country, you have no way to cross over to common law, which is the right to trail by jury. They just kill you anyway. This is where we are heading in the USA, and I'm not so sure we aren't already there. I even have an admission of this from two supreme court justices. Communism stops the word of YHWH.
This is why he wants us to come out of her. This system of the beast. Renounce everything, ie social security card, birth certificate, EVERYTHING. Get out of their jurisdiction. He does not want us to partake in her. This means welfare, medicade, free healthcare, socialism, social security, ect. This is why all churches are doomed... 501-3 tax exempt. They have struck a deal with devil and have been decieved.
There are also tares on the earth now. It says, just as in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the coming son of man. This is why YHWH wrote the parable of the wheat and the tares. He knew the decievers would take out the truth, ( what do they have left to lose? they lost their estate in heaven, lucifer and his fallen angels, all 200 of them ) so he told it in parable form, he even created the tares in the wheat so he could tell the story. This is his power. Everyone knows what wheat looks like, but do you know what a tare looks like? A tare is an identical copy of the wheat, only it's NOT wheat. It's a fungus, and a poison. They look like us, but they are NOT OF US.
The tares also changed YHWH son in the flesh name to Jesus. It is YAHUSHUA. The hebrew word for YAHUSHUA would be Joshua, so how do you get from Joshua to Jesus? Many are decieved by this. It says who so ever calls on my name shall be saved. How can you call out his name if you don't know it? YHWH knew they would change his name, so he put in the bible, that wide is the path and narrow is the gate, and very few that find it. This is a direct contridiction of who ever calls out on my name will be saved. YHWH does not deal in contridictions.

The man has a point. There is no sense in worrying yourself sick over stuff that is beyond your control. It is damaging to your physical and mental health to be constantly surrounded by negativity, whether it comes from the self or from others around you.
How can a man of God live in wealth?
Jesus said if you are to be perfect give everything to the poor and come follow me. It's not "rocket science".

Jesus was the fufillment of the law and the prophets. Solomon and the Old Testament are no more. Those who want to make the Gospel complicated so they can do what they want have their reward. In the New Testament Jesus told the rich man to give all and follow him if he wanted to be perfect The rich man chose his riches and chose his reward.
Is following the Gospel about following your heart or following the will of God.

John, you actually do need to research that verse further. You have taken the entire content of the story of the RICH YOUNG RULER way out of context! This had very little to do with money and you can find this in the book of Matthew, since you are so well versed on this issue as you claim there is no need for me to tell you what chapter and verses.
For those that don't understand this I will make it simple in my own words and then you can look up the book yourself and read the entire context so this will be clear as to the intent of what Jesus actually said.
A man walks up to Jesus and says, My lord I have fulfilled all demands of the scrolls and the prophets, what must I do now to get into Heaven and have ever lasting life. Jesus says to him : You must sell all your belongings and give all your money away to the poor. The man looks at him with suprise and says but I am a wealthy man, a merchant, why must I give away all my money.
Jesus looks at the man and says, It is much easier for a camel to tread himself through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to get into heaven. ie : The eye of the needle is not a sewing needle! Then Jesus says the kingdom of God is not something you will look at and say THERE IT IS there is the kingdom of God for the kingdom of God is within.
As you can see or if you read the entire book of Matthew you will see this really had nothing to do with money at all.
My contention is that what Jesus was saying was 3 things : #1 : This man claimed to be the only rightious man on earth for he has fulfilled all the demands of the scrolls and the prophets. # 2 : His "LOVE" for money was more important to him than entering the kingdom of God and Jesus called him on it. # 3 : He asked his Lord what he needed to do to enter the kingdom of God, Jesus told him and then the man argued with Jesus.
Money is not the root of all evil it is THE LOVE OF MONEY, not money itself. The bible is clear that he wants us to have riches on earth in many places, and yes, Solomon was a very rich KING!
This is where the message in the bible gets lost, when people take a verse out of context to suit their own purpose and agenda.

Why would a man who claimed to be a man of God accumulate wealth? He must either love it or what it can buy. If he has diamonds on his fingers, that says it all whether he's a TV preacher or the man in Vatican City.
I said Jesus said to the Rich Young Ruler, if he wanted to be perfect he should give his wealth away. Coming to the point with few words may or may not be taking something out of context, don't believe the statement was taken out of context.

He does want us to be happy
but it's not the money that is supposed to make us happy. the prosperity gospel only works in America where there is money to be had. It is not preached in poor countries; those Christians would think he is nuts. Possessions tie us down and make us slaves to them. I am finding out, the less you have, the happier you can be. A person who has more, has more to lose especially in poor economic times.

After that visit they went to South Africa for A Night of Hope the worship events they've taken to venues across the country and around the world, from the new Yankee Stadium last spring to South Africa last week.

He preaches greed and that Christian's are chosen to prosper because it's the will of god.
Who wouldn't want to hear that? He tells people that they are great, god loves them, and wants them to be wealthy, so they will be because he says so. I can imagine how the "believers" think "Yea I'm chosen and should be wealthy and he says that too so I must be special and will be rich some day."
Just give him money and everything will be ok.
I am pretty sure Jesus wanted people to shun wealth and be charitable. When did "Christians" forget that? And turning the other cheek? And the meek shall inherit the earth?

He is one smooth
inspirational speaker-just what the 30ish want to hear. Never quotes the Bible, never reads from the Bible but is very encouraging. He aspires to be a Billy Graham and I think he has made it. He says don't hang out with negative people because that will get on you. So that means don't listen to anyone talking about conspiracy, secrets, chemtrails, false flags, unnecessary war, nothing negative about our government.
