Why are most Christians so pro-life when it comes to abortion?

Why are most Christians (ie. not those on this site) so pro-life when it comes to abortion...but also such huge warmongers (ie. anti-life) ?

It's like they can't reason for themselves and notice this huge glaring contradiction...

and why are they also

pro war? Is it the Muslims, etc? Funny you didn't address that part of the post. God Bless oh peaceful brother :)

I am not "Pro-War", I say Bring the boys HOME!

So there, I addressed it.

The Bible and Life

Life is in the blood. Until there is blood there is no life.

My 2 cents.

Speaking only from my little corner of the world, Christians that I know are Pro-Life, because they believe life begins at conception. The Spirit of a human is alive at the point of conception.

On the WAR part of the question: In the Old Testament, G-d many times told His People to go to war against certain enemies, usually for worshiping false gods. King David was a warrior before he was king.

Also in the Old Testament, there are rules for certain sins that G-d demands the offender to be killed. (This is why many Christians believe in capital punishment for murderers and pedophiles etc.) Governments had a G-d given right to fight enemies and punish sin.

As we take each issue and "pass it thru the cross" we learn of forgiveness of sins thru our Lord Jesus Christ. The adulterer is not stoned, she is forgiven and told SIN NO MORE.

Good Answer Debbie! But there's more to it...

Also, realize that the "peoples" that The LORD had Moses, Joshua, and Israel, go after, that were in the Land, were Nephilim. Read close you will see it...So it was, at times, way more than they just worshiped other gods...

Nephilim: Genesis 6 (of course, these destroyed by the Flood), Numbers 13:33
Emim: Deuteronomy 2:10
Rephaim: Deuteronomy 3:11
Anakim: Joshua 11:21

All of these were to be totally destroyed because they were the offspring of fallen angels and human women.

I'll

take that as a no.

Silly

Some Christians operate as a group. They are powerful. The stupid shit they do effects me and others who don't believe the myth they do. What we are witnessing here in this thread are Christians that can't handle me pointing out what millions of Christians ARE REALLY doing, AS A GROUP. they are using their understanding of Christianity to justify their actions. It matters. Grow up.

Side note...

hey, did you see Fedor knock Brett Rogers out the other day? I think Fedor can beat the new world order himself!

"It is no measure of health to be adjusted to a profoundly sick society." - Krishnamurti

It was awesome.

However, Krishnamurti would do more. That man was a saint.

I think the poster

is simply asking why some Christians are pro life and pro war. There seems to be quite a few here in the US. Like millions. So I don't think he wants a biblical lesson, etc. Just a straight answer. How can so many Christians be pro life and pro war at the same time?

There IS NO ANSWER!

Someone PLEASE plug this guy back in! There IS NO STRAIGHT ANSWER! It's an intangible! Human beings are INHUMANE. That's one of the curses of humanity! People are flawed! They have always been. Always will be. Is it beyond you to objectively consider that MAYBE "all Christians" are not in this category, but SOME are? And they always will be as long as individuals are free-thinking (tongue-in-cheek).

Fedor, if you dislike the war......PROTEST IT! Bashing those that don't protest it when you think they should is cowardice at best! You'll never change their minds or stop them from funding and supporting it by whining on this thread that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE THREAD TOPIC!

Silly boy,

That's what we are exploring. Some of us have heard specific reasons why some Christians support the wars. WE are discussing this topic. You becoming hysterical is embarrassing.

you should read the topic again.

Call me names....

That shows your arguement is hollow!

Why is water wet?

Hysterical is an adjective.

Names by definition are nouns.

CHA-CHING!

Mass hysteria.

Mass hysteria.

Are You Kidding?

What does it say about a society when women are willing to destroy their own offspring? What does it say about the value of the wonder of human life?

Some people today may copulate like cats or dogs, but that doesn't make their offspring as expendable as puppies and kittens.

Actually, some abortion supporters are more offended at the killing of puppy or kitten than they are a nascent human.

What I wonder is how pro-abortion people can fail to understand the difference between the innocence of the unborn and the guilt of murderers.
They will support abolition of the death penalty and unlimited abortion almost in the same breath.

And don't come back with the callousness of some self-professed Christians toward other peoples (when they used to send their sons and daughters as missionaries to those same people groups.) That is indeed a conundrum. They have lost their way, as Ron Paul would say.

Well, you see. If there's no poor unwanted kids with no other

choice, wherever would the military get kids to fight wars. You have to be pro-life if you want to fight good wars. Duh.

OK Mike Lawson.......

but for a different view from the typical neo-con, I present, once more with feeling... www.feministsforlife.com

-I favor extending to Israel the same honest friendship that Jefferson and the Founding Fathers urged us to offer to all nations. ...This means I also favor discontinuing foreign aid to governments that are actual or potential enemies of Israel,--Ron Paul

I'm really offended by that group

There was a LONG list of women leaders they did not mention. The word feminist SUCKS. I should say that. It's a collectivist word that divides women.

Unwamted pregnancy should not be a woman's problem. It should be the problem of BOTH the man and woman, and to do that, laws must be made that terminate BOTH from another unwanted pregnancy.

Put laws on the books that provide abortion with sterlization (including the ability to AFFORD to reverse) we'll slow down abortion dramatically.

Im sure many men would think thwice before discharging sperm into a woman they had NO intendtion of impregnating if they understood, that the discharge could lead to a vasectomy.

It's time to play hardball, and that's how to play.

It Is Simple

Abortion is murder

And, playing devil's

And, playing devil's advocate for a moment...

I don't think you'll find any pro-choicers who knowingly support the idea of murder. The real difference between you and them is that they disagree as to when life actually begins. "Abortion is murder" is a non-argument if you are speaking to someone who doesn't see abortion as taking a life. Unfortunately, most pro-lifers and pro-choicers fail to see this distinction, and thus get absolutely nowhere while attempting to debate the issue.

So is war if it isn't

So is war if it isn't strictly self-defense.

An Interesting Quiz

How would you respond in these situations?

1. A preacher and his wife are very, very poor. They already have 14 kids. Now she finds out she’s pregnant with the 15th. They’re living in tremendous poverty. Considering their poverty and the excessive world population, would you consider recommending she get an abortion?

2. The father is sick with sniffles, the mother has TB. Of their four children, the first is blind, the second has died, the third is deaf, the fourth has TB. She finds she’s pregnant again. Given this extreme situation, would you consider recommending abortion?

3. A white man raped a 13-year-old black girl and she’s now pregnant. If you were her parents, would you consider recommending abortion?

4. A teenage girl is pregnant. She’s not married. Her fiancé is not the father of the baby, and he’s upset. Would you recommend abortion?

In the first case, you would have killed John Wesley, one of the great evangelists in the 19th century. In the second case, you would have killed Beethoven. In the third case, you would have killed Ethel Waters, the great black gospel singer. If you said yes to the fourth case, you would have declared the murder of Jesus Christ!

God is the author of life, and He has givenevery single individual supreme value. Each life—whether inside or outside the womb—should therefore be valued by us. God knows the plans He has for each individual and has written in His book all the days ordained for us before one of them came to be. When we presume to know better than God who should be given life, we are putting ourselves in the place of God and are guilty of idolatry.

What is wrong with you people?

The poster ask about Christians that are pro-life and pro war. He was wondering how they can be both and you ramble on about your God having everything figured out and if we think we know better, we think we are god, blah, blah, blah. Just answer the question, Christian. Pro life and pro war, how does God feel about that?

You just blew the statistical likelyhood of someone famous

being born.

An observation

Just because someone calls themselves a christian does not make them a Christian.

There's hordes of people running around the planet in just about every denomination who know little to nothing about what their chosen denomination actually believes, and there are plenty of little 'c' christians among them.

I agree this post is silly, but I will still entertain...

I am prolife, but I am not a christian. Every study that is being done is saying that babies can feel pain even in the womb. They are still human beings and we shouldnt be able to kill them because the mother was irresponsible during sex. Dont get angry with me if that offended you, because I just found out a year ago my mother had 2 abortions years before my siblings and I were born.

Look, should there be a constitutional ammendment that abortion be illegal? Hell no, because I dont want the federal government telling me much of anything. But roe v. wade should be overturned because it should be a state issue, not a federal. But, personally, I am pro life, but Im sure there are rare circumstances where it should be allowed, such as with rape and health reasons, but having a bad habit of having sex with multiple partners without condoms over and over again should not be tolerated with tax dollars, thats for sure. Also, no late term abortions under any circumstance.

Thats my opinion for my state, but your free to do what you want in your state.

Ron Paul 2012

and now

your thoughts on being pro-life AND supporting wars.

I am pro life and anti war...

I am a pro life and very libertarian. I dont like preemptive war, but I believe in a strong national defense here in US territory. I believe in protecting our borders language and culture (nothing to do with Michael Savage.. I think he can be a huge tool bag), so that can make me a paleo conservative libertarian, but to hell with labels. I think we should have a humble foreign policy and only hit hard when we are about to be hit (clearly) or have been hit and then come back home.

Prolife- I think I made myself clear already.

Fedor- What does this have to do with DP? None of us are pro war or pro preemptive war. You should pay more attention to the posts here.

Ron Paul 2012

ah lord,

I don't believe for a minute all our good Christian friends here in the Liberty movement are pro peace in the Middle East. Not a chance. It is also very relevant for us to explore why there is so much support for wars that are bankrupting our country and justifying actions like the Patriot Act. To ignore the clear historic battles between Christians and Muslims and think this has NOTHING to do with the support of these wars is naive. You can't have limited government and a crusade. This is worth exploring. This shouldn't offend anyone here.

ok, and based on your

ok, and based on your trolling here and your support for the communist Zeitgeist 2, I dont believe that you are even a MEMBER of the liberty movement. You realized that Ron Paul fits under your umbrella, right?

Fedor, you wrote:

"I don't believe for a minute all our good Christian friends here in the Liberty movement are pro peace in the Middle East. "

So you're basically saying they're all lying when they TELL you they're not pro war. That's an exceptional claim, and now we see that you think you know better than them. So what's the point in telling you anything at all?

Further, why should they trust anything YOU say, either? You'd be fighting mad if they said "I don't believe for a minute that all our good atheist friends here in the Liberty Movement are really supporters of Ron Paul.

Could you possibly get any more offensive than to deny a man his own testimony about his own thoughts and convictions?

Further, you are finding "support for the war" in posts where no such support exists. This is either exceedingly dull, or it is deliberate trolling.

Question: If you truly believe that so many folks here are liars, then why do you participate?

Dear Christian brother,

I am a Christian who despises Christian hypocrisy. I think it is ruining our tradition and I confront it whenever possible. It makes me feel good. I think discussing it is more important than your feelings. Yes, I believe there are some Christians in the Liberty movement that have no intention of supporting a secular government. I'm sure of it. Their radical beliefs make a secular government impossible.

Hey

This was your quote: "I don't believe for a minute all our good Christian friends here in the Liberty movement are pro peace in the Middle East. " Now you're attempting to change the discussion to one of separation of church and state instead of war? Why don't you own up to what you said and either attempt to defend it (even though it's indefensible) or apologize for it? Libertarianism is all about personal responsibility. What an ego.

leave me alone , Ruth

We disagree and I have nothing more to say to you. I made myself clear, if you can't figure it out, tough.

The truth

hurts, doesn't it?

Fedor

apparently wasn't with us last year as we stood by Ron Paul while he was being laughed at by the other republican candidates for expressing his constitutional and noninterventionist views during debates, and as we voted for him as the winner of these debates for his courage to speak out.

Fedor apparently wasn't around when Ron Paul was banned from speaking at our state conventions, despite our best efforts to plead with our republican state chairs to let him, and us, have our say.

Fedor apparently was oblivious as we ourselves faced ridicule and overt opposition, often in the form of the local party leaders breaking their own convention bylaws, while we made our national delegate runs.

THE reasons both Ron Paul and we supporters were treated so shabbily was because we opposed the wars and legislation such as the Patriot Act. Fedor's remark "I don't believe for a minute all our good Christian friends here in the Liberty movement are pro peace in the Middle East. " is truly ignorant and yes, offensive. It's disrespectful to all of us hard working and honest members of the liberty movement who stood up so strongly for our beliefs. Fedor ought to be ashamed, and owes us an apology.

Sorry, sweetheart.

I was a meetup organizer for RP and attended several gatherings, even met Dr. Paul and got a picture with my family. This thread is real simple. The poster wanted to know how some Christians could be pro life and pro war. A war that involves their historic enemy. A war that may be a continuation of the Christian crusade their group started long ago. How about we stick to the topic?

How about

you lose that condescending tone and apologize for offending us?

I have another question

Why is this post allowed to stay up here?

This is like puting up a post that asks, "Why are most Muslims peaceful but when it comes to their daughters doing certain taboo things they are compelled and bound by Sharia Law to kill their daughters for reasons of honor?

What does this have to do with anything Ron Paul?

It's like the poster and the DP mods can't reason for themselves and notice this huge glaring contradiction...

Keep it up and I'll file a "hate crimes" complaint.

The Last Hope Trader
Forensic Trading For Times Of High Crimes

because the majority

of America is Christian, not Muslim. The fact that millions of Christians do support the wars is a concern. Wars that involve their historic enemy, the Muslims. You don't find this interesting? You don't think this effects our taxes or our Liberty? It does. This topic is very, very important. Can't have a limited government if millions of people want a crusade.

For argument's sake...

What is the relevance of the neo con Christian right loving war have anything to do with the abortion argument? I mean, we all know that Bush and Blair and all neo cons tend to be HUGE hypocrates, but does that make abortion right? RP is against abortion. Not all Christians are hypocrates like Bush and Blair and the likes. Anyway, take this where you want my friend.

PS love the name Fedor. Always been my favorite fighter for the past 9 years;-)

Ron Paul 2012

9 years? !!

Very nice. True fan.

I think we are just exploring this. The consequences of their support of the wars in the Middle East effects all of us. There is a clear historic connection between the Christians and Muslims. I think Americans should consider if they want their taxes to help fund a religious crusade. If they are pro-life and do support the wars, perhaps it has something to do with their historic dislike for Islam. Interesting. That certainly would justify ANOTHER crusade.

Fedor~no one here is Pro-War

Christians, or any other religion or non religion they happen to be!
You are attacking on a forum that is not pro war so maybe if you are really that passionate about your question in OP you should take it to the neo con sites instead of here!

Besides, you are just repeating yourself at this point and causing division amongst those that don't even fit your "criteria"!

Go to a neo-con site...those are the ones you need to be talking to.

Give it a rest.

The poster has a legitimate question. It's not our fault, the label Christian has been turned into a generic term. I know what he means and I'm curious. If you're not, go away. What you will not do is try to censor this website. Leave the thread.
