If Dr. Paul will run, (and he's probably being honest when he says its too soon for him to think about) an event much more important than a throw-away line at the end of a speech took place in Iowa on Saturday morning. I don't know if anyone had the presence of mind to video it and post it and I didn't get to go, but Dr. Paul held a fundraiser for Kent Sorenson, a rising star among Iowa Republicans.
Sorenson is an interesting cat. I've heard conflicting reports about whether or not he actually voted in the caucus for Dr. Paul, but he is close friends with one of our state committee members who brought him around to our message. At the time, he was just a regular local business owner but he took a flier on 2008 State House race an upset an incumbent Democrat without any support from the state GOP who wrote off the race as unwinnable. When he got in, our state CFL asked him to get publicly involved with us but he always refused any open association thinking it would hurt him politically. Meanwhile, he plasters his facebook page with pics of him with Huckabee and other statists. But quietly, he has advanced many bills for us on things like the 10th Amendment resolution and a real right-to-carry bill.
Then at the height of the health care debate in August he published an open letter to Senator Chuck Grassley blasting him for working with Democrats on socialized medicine. This made him a rock star among the party's conservative wing who are in a civil war with the McCain/neocon wing.
Then all of a sudden, Sorenson announces that Dr. Paul will be joining him at a fundraiser. I think it really opened a lot of eyes around the state. While many are beside themselves about the idea, especially because they don't see Dr. Paul as a strong enough gay-basher, it may just make some people think differently. So Dr. Paul helping out a guy like Sorenson is exactly the kind of thing he needs to do in Iowa if he runs again. If Sorenson would return the favor with an endorsement in 2012 could be a game-changer in the Iowa caucuses.

I was talking to a few days ago to people who have had access to Ron Paul and the highest people near him. They said that those people nearest Ron Paul seemed confident that he would run again in 2012. So there you go, the people closest to Ron think he will run in 2012,

1) the Freedom Movement needs to NOW move beyond Ron Paul, with Ron's good help and assistance of course.
2) the voters think Ron Paul is nuts, too old, and not "presidential" enough. Like it or not, that is what they think.
3) the Hannity Republicans can't eat ron paul crow. They are spouting his views more and more, they may even decide Afgan war is done, but Ron Paul will forever be outside the pale for them. Its a silly ego thing.
4) the avg electorate cries for leadership, charisma, and a bold leader.... much in the vain of Ronald Reagan. While Romney looks the part, the voters don't find the passionate principled man of action they long for.
5) the next Ronald Reagan has yet to step up to the public limelight. Here is our chance to groom and school future leaders for liberty. SCHOOL should be in session.... but all we have is the Campaign for Liberty. No classes on how to speak to reporters, how to do a 40 second interview answering the big questions, how to debate with Bill Maher and Sean Hanity. HOW to come off as Credible and Legit. How to NOT sound like a cook, a nut job, and still advocate full liberty.
6) Only three states matter: Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.
7) Only TV presence and popularity makes one a brand name that stands/means something and "a legitimate candidate"
8) We have many in this Revolution who need the exposure, the TV time, and backing of the rest of us. Some names I like are Charles Goyette and Former Gov Gary Johnson.
9) Look to the Tea Party to pick and back the Next Revolution Candidate
10) Don't be surprised if it is NOT Sara Palin. Be worried if it is.
2) the voters think Ron Paul is nuts, too old, and not "presidential" enough. Like it or not, that is what they think. = WRONG.
That is OLD (like last campaign old) thinking. Nowadays, you'd be considered ridiculous & unintelligent if you didn't take Ron Paul seriously. He's the real thing now & very cool to follow.

no one has the stature, the integrity, the record of Dr Paul.
Last time I looked he wasn't sounding like or being received as a kook, a nut, or anything other than legitimate and credible during his recent, frequent MSM appearances.
One of the problems is that we haven't seen a statesman in this country in so long, we don't know what to do with one when he appears. Dr Paul could walk away from his seat tomorrow (as he did a number of years ago) and he would still know who he is and still stand for the same principles. Name me one other current federal elected office holder who could do the same.
You sir have only 1 vote, I too have 1 vote therefore my vote nullifies your vote.
You said, "2) the voters think Ron Paul is nuts, too old" .
My responses is; What gives you the right to speak for any other voters, other than yourself ?
Please take your seat. You have given your opinion which is your right, I strongly disagree, which is my right !
In case you didn't know, this site is dedicated to promote Ron Paul and his many causes, if you want to back Romney, or anybody else, please start your own site.
Thank you.
P.S. As you can see by the many responses below, you sir are badly outnumbered by the other "Voters" !
Wow. At least he didn't say "no." A non-answer, though, does not constitute a "yes."
Still, if he runs, I would be honored to help out in whatever way I can...especially considering I discovered Ron Paul a few weeks before the 2008 election.

If (when) Rand wins the senatorial race, then Ron will help campaign for Rand Paul 2012.
If Rand doesn't win... then Ron will run again. This time with 4 years of 'see?-i-told-you-so' and angry, betrayed, disillusioned liberals on his side.
I think that Dr. Paul is being very savvy here. He knows that he can accomplish more, get more attention for our message, and keep more supporters keyed up if he openly speculates about running again. Give a speech in a random city, and the local press might do a story. Give a speech in Iowa, New Hampshire, or South Carolina and the national press might cover it. It's interesting how the emails sent out from CFL and YAL fuel this speculation, as if they wouldn't be the first to know.
Personally, of course I hope he runs in 2012, there's no one who matches his message with his record. The freedom movement needs someone to carry the banner for us at the top of the ticket, even though sadly I don't think a freedom candidate can win yet, but it can build a base that will win victories on legislation and in state and local offices. If Dr. Paul won't go, let's hope Governor Johnson will step up. Its encouraging to see him starting a new organization and taking steps to be more engaged.

with no fraud. That is going to be the trick.
I'd say that's pretty much it, then...
He's obviously not going to make (or announce) a decision until AFTER he gets re-elected to his congressional seat...
