HuffPo: Audit The Fed Effort Under Threat In House

A bipartisan effort to force transparency on the Federal Reserve is suddenly in jeopardy after a House Financial Services Committee member introduced an amendment that would let the multi-trillion dollar organization continue throwing tax dollars around in secret.

Rep. Mel Watt, a Democrat from North Carolina, has introduced an amendment intended as an alternative to the measure to audit the Federal Reserve introduced by Reps. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and Alan Grayson's (D-Fla.) . But instead of increasing transparency, as the amendment claims to do, Watt's measure would instead make the institution more opaque.

The measure could come for a vote anytime this week. Read the amendment here:

Now you can see what things like the "Patriot Act"

was really meant to suppress. The following of the Rule of Law..I mean if you call Watt the criminal he is and threaten to grab his sorry ass and haul him to jail you could be a terrorist. That's the feeling I'm getting, you might be a domestic terrorist if you threaten a banker that just got a bonus from the trillions stolen from the American people. Just a thought, I want to grab Watt off the street and haul him to jail. The problem is they'd nail me for kidnapping and being a terrorist and Watt would sue me. We're in quite a pickle here, the insane are running the asylum.

Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) -- The House Financial Services Committee will consider measures tomorrow on the powers of congressional investigators to audit the Federal Reserve, the panel’s chairman said today.

Representative Barney Frank, the chairman and a Massachusetts Democrat, said the committee would take up Fed audit proposals during this week’s debate on legislation to create a council of regulators to monitor for systemic risk.........

What authority does this guy have

to gut a bill that over 300 congressman already co-sponsored? Obviously, they liked they it was originally.

I asked that question a while back.

It has to do with the committee chairman's ability to change bills.
I don't know why they have such a rule, but that's the way it is.

Mel Watt doing the dirty deed for Pelosi and Frank

Didn't Barney Frank promise an up or down vote on H.R. 1207?

And can't Ron Paul, with 310 co-sponsers, now force a vote on his Bill?

That's what I thought!

I remember that promise and with 310 sponsors, now is the time to do it.

what ever happen with the contact bomb to FS committee?

.....................................................................

bump, but really

Does anyone think we are going to solve this politically? The coupe is done, fait acompli or whatever. Either our military will decide they DO care about the Constitution and reclaim our government or we can peacefully just stop doing business with The Corporation. END the Fed, one day at a time in your life. Best you can. It is a long road, to be sure.

Totally ditto

See we agree precisely.
"END the Fed, one day at a time in your life."

One life at a time.
