The clock is ticking down. We have until midnight Friday, December 7th to collect the first $200,000 needed to launch the Ron Paul Blimp tour. As of now we are at about $135,000. The publicity that the blimp will generate will be priceless.
As you know, many of the initial pledges received were bogus attempts to sabotage the success of this effort. It would be a shame if those who set out to do damage to the effort were to win. Let's not let that happen!
Imagine.. the mainstream media is mesmerized as the image of the Ron Paul blimp is shown to tens of millions of Americans throughout the day (and throughout the month).
As GPS coordinates stream to the website a map shows the Ron Paul blimp's location in real time. The local television stations broadcast its every move. The curious flock together and make a trip to see history in the making. Emails with pictures are sent, then forwarded, then forwarded again. YouTube videos go viral and reach tens of millions of views. Ron Paul becomes the first presidential candidate in history to have his very own blimp. The PR stunt generates millions upon millions of dollars worth in free publicity, and captures the imagination of America.
Let's make this happen!

Amazing! absolutely amazing. As an LTA pilot I couldn't be more excited.
In the beginning I thought there was a huge risk of it becoming a colossal waste of money. There still is a possibility of the media ignoring it, bad weather grounding it and Homeland security restricting it but now that it is a reality we all must get behind it and promote it 100%.
This will become a huge lightning rod for enthusiasm regardless. Lets all help make the most of the expenditure.

Since this is a for profit organisation maybe during the super bowl they can rent the blimp to super bowl camera crews insuring the blimp will hover over the stadium!

Well, sure enough, ABC News had a story, it is on the front page of Google News, and a band called Tea Party whose website is Teaparty.com is about to get a whole lot of free advertising. Ahh, well, you can't expect the old-line media to actually fact-check before sending out a story nationwide :D. That's not their way.
I hope too many people don't Digg the ABC article and crash Tea Party's server and wish them many CD sales.

They are working on PayPal to be up tomorrow. Google worked for me though. Google should pay for advertising BTW. I guess if it's not their logo and just the word that is now in the dictionary they don't have to. Whatever. Tomorrow Ron Paul will have a BLIMP! This will be a huge boon for the Tea Party. Last I checked only $35,000 to go and there's still 26 hours left!

I'm new here so -- hi all!
Just donated $25 to the blimp and will donate at least $50 to the Tea Party on the 16th. Maybe more depending on how busy work is. I've donated $125 so far, bought a couple t-shirts and have signs in my window.
I think the Blimp is a fantastic idea and have been plugging it on Digg, MySpace and the top Ron Paul video on YouTube.
I love the idea and am very excited about their flight schedule (check it out on RonPaulBlimp.com) Over Boston Harbor on the 16th! Times Square on New Year's Eve!! Disneyworld before the Florida Primaries!!!

The Official Ron Paul Campaign Should Help Out!!!
Not sure if anyone else has contacted them, but I emailed both the official Ron Paul campaign, and the Blimp organizers to have them get in touch with each other to ensure this blimp makes it into the air.
Hopefully they will work out the details and funding prior to the deadline. This would absolutely be some of the best "paid political advertising" money spent in this campaign. Anyone else with contacts??? Try to get them talking together so that this thing gets up in the air!! GO Ron Paul!!!!

And fly it in Iowa, Illinois, and some of the Feb 5 midwest Super Tuesday states. But I don't think they can legally have anything to do with the first blimp.

You can't legally do this.
But I think you can donate to 30 days to Iowa and the NH operation, since those are set up as PACs (not sure of this).
With regard to the blimp, no way - I asked this question of them several times and the answers can be found (from Katharine and Elijah) in various DP and RPF threads.

I would guess that the blimp guys are covering themselves legally by not allowing non-Americans to donate. Being a for-profit company they are still in uncharted election law legal territory.

Blimp Banner Worries Me...
After all the care they took to create an ad based promotion instead of a PAC, I can't believe they would use the "Ron Paul for President 08" copy on the banner appearing on many websites now. IANAL, but that seems to be directly supporting the campaign and in the murky world of FEC law it might draw undo scrutiny.
I hope not.

After they restructured, the "Ron Paul for President" logos were removed from most of their website. (ronpaulblimp.com).
But it looks like they forgot one.
I'd Go With The "Ron Paul Revolution" Side
of the blimp in the banner to be consistent with the promotion and be safe. The "Ron Paul For President" banner evokes a "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" feel. Not that that's bad.

We are going to be huge on the 16th. We are going to get at least as much as before and probably double. I think double. I know I just got on board and am good for it.
We only need 50K to fly the blimp. 50K out of the millions we will raise again won't mean so much, but the impact of a blimp to coincide with the event, even if the 16th only matched what was done on the first money bomb would have a large impact i think.

The blimp could add new people to Dec 16th moneybomb too....... right now we are over 70k people away from the 100,000 goal. If millions of people hear about the blimp launch they might end up sending Ron money a few days later too. I think it will boost the donations more than it will cost.

I think this made a big difference.
We're at 153 thou now. If we hit 160 thou today (7 thou to go in 6 hours), then we've raised 40 thou today.
Then all we need to do is raise 40 thou tomorrow, and the blimp will fly in time to overfly both DC and NY on its way to Boston.
I expect to see pics of the blimp with the banners applied tomorrow (can we see this?) and this will generate even more interest and donations.

I will also max out on the 16th. I learned of RP after the fifth and the first big money bomb. I gave $300.00 after a solid night of reading and exploring. I changed my affiliation to republican and joined my Chester County Meetup group. RP cured my apathy. I gave another $200.00 when they wanted to go for 2.5 mil, but I knew we wouldnt make it. On the 16th however, I am good for another $1800.00, and have told much of my family and friends that anything they might have wanted to give me for x-mas, either give me cash or donate to RP site or to the blimp.
