I watched the video of the video stalker videoing Rand Paul "flipping pancakes at the Lions Club" or it might have been his church. Guy wouldn't say a word, just stood there behind the camera like a pile of crap.
They should have picked him up and thrown him out. LOL !!
Would have been interesting to see how my magistrates and judge executive responded to Rand's speech! I've been hanging out at Fiscal Court for the past year or so, and they all knew I supported Ron..... I'm glad Rand's giving em a dose of Constitutionalism :)
My first post here. I've lurked a long time, always in doubt that there is any hope of beating the system.
I was starting to get a ray of hope with the polls on Rand. But now he makes one comment that is questionable, and the obsessive-compulsive perfectionists are beating him up.
Apparently a guy can be 99% right, but that isn't good enough. So the alternative is to allow the people who are 1% right to get elected.
Thank you for confirming my original doubts - now I can quit wasting my time here.

I'm sorry but the "GITMO question" is not a mere side issue for me. Rand may still be the "best" candidate for the job out there but I swore off the whole "better of two evils" BS with Ron Paul. The fact is Rand Paul is not Ron Paul and he's made that very clear with the sickening position he took on the torture camp at GITMO. How dare he talk about the Constitution when he is just as selective about its application as any other neo-con. He will not be getting my money or support. Ever.

This is what the establishment wants. Divide and conquer. Please don't let them succeed. Personally I don't agree with Rand on this particular issue, but he's still miles more free market, and non-interventionist then anybody else currently in the US Senate.
Regarding the Military Spending, If the entire federal budget is cut down to 10% of it's current size obviously The military would be cut down to a fraction of it's current size too. Rand Paul is just saying that of that 10% left, defense should be the majority of that. so Rand is for dismantling much of the Military. Not as much as I, as an anarchist would like to see (which is a complete abolishment) but certainly more then anybody else currently in the US Senate.
Trey Grayson attacked Rand on the issue because he knew it would be divisive. Trey new Paul either had to say one thing, and make the people of Kentucky very unhappy, or say another thing and cause problems in much of his national base.
Please read the two articles I've put together. This is definitely a very well orchestrated event by the Trey Grayson camp. And Rand, being a little green to the political process simply had trouble with handling it.
The problem then, seems to be the lack of any official declaration of war, like I've blogged about before. Had Rand been in the US Senate at the time, he would have forced an official declaration and there wouldn't be any question about whether or not these are prisoners of war and what their rights are vs regular citizens or "enemy combatants" (which seems to mean whatever Bush wanted it to mean).
But the fact is the Afghanistan war wasn't done properly and constitutionally, and now we have to figure out the best way to unscramble an omelet. I will state for the record that I disagree with Rand on the issue, but I do think it's possible for libertarians and anti-war people to disagree on the best way to unscramble the evils of the state. I'm not sure where he is compromising on anything. He opposes and has said he'd have voted against going into Iraq during this campaign, opposes torture, opposes the PATRIOT act and wants to end the federal war on drugs.
The untempered, childish, and black and white posts of SOME of those that are unhappy about Rand's comments are signs of an immature, unthoughtful, impulsive mind.

KY is a neo-con state...think about it - how do you win without support - votes from war loving John-6packs?

Support the message not the partisanship
We are supposed to be better than this
Just being offended at a statemetn won't help you win
Rand is just a soldier
that holds the flag of the Republic and hopes to place that flag in Senate for you and me my friend in Liberty.

If he is just a soldier maybe his place should be in Afghanistan not on senate floor...
Flags are often used as decoration by many people...
It always look much better when caskets come draped by flag...
I like this old Jewish saying you quote in your signature...
good points patriot
That is why we need to hear answers to our questions from Rand.
Politics a dirty game - how do you elect Rand using only the truth?
KY is a neo-con state...think about it - how do you win without support - votes from war loving John-6packs?

You can always buy those votes by serving them free beer or whisky during town meetings and talking about baseball or football rather than gitmo or national defense issues... but telling you the truth I think that this "redneck" stereotype is just that... stereotype...

>Rand Paul = Freedom!< What
>Rand Paul = Freedom!<
What kind of freedom you are talking about? Freedom of detaining somebody for years without trial? Freedom of military tribunals? Freedom of killing Pashtun villagers? Freedom of establishing/supporting puppet governments?
We're talking about Rand
We're talking about Rand Paul here. You could cut the bullshit, and hyperbole, and simply state your displeasure with his comments.
Instead of being a dickhead. You could layout straightforward and rational thoughts.
