Ron was getting a little loose there and not making much sense. Santielli (sp?) came in to help him out. Ron gathered himself and was on point the rest of the way. Teamwork Works!!!
Imho the section where she asked him about interest rates was quite weak, as he just returned how bad the FED did the job of setting them so far.
I wonder why he hasnt mentioned his pov, that rather the free market itself should set interest rates, instead of the congress or any other group of people, in case of getting rid of the fed.
For non-RP-followers it might appeared unfortunatly, that he wants congress to set interest rates instead...
He mentioned it later in another context, but not when he explicitly was asked for it at playtime 7:40.
Because of that I had the feeling that she won this one because RP just retured the Volcker issue, and missed to reply immediatly, that noone should set interest rates at all but the free market by self-regulation.
Later he mentioned it in a side note, but imho too late...
Yea, he tries to cram too much info into a sentence. Its like the thoughts are coming faster than his words.
Squawk Box talked about Paul's audit again today 11/24/09. Liesman was interviewing a former Fed Governor, and actually was challenging him by pointing out the 180 day lag in an audit shouldn't hurt policy. Maybe we are changing his mind a little? That painful effort at comedy destroyed the entire credibility of those panelists... If I was new to watching that program I'd have a hard time watching it again other than for entertainment value.
I'm glad they're allowing Dr. Paul to answer the stupid questions though because he answers them at the most basic level so everyone can understand.

But if HR 1207 is attached to it, then that is one HUGE step for the people. Even if the Fed is given new sweeping powers and authorities, (honestly, it's a pretty f-ing powerful institution as it is, how can it get even more powerful???) the people will get to judge the effects of those new powers, the decisions behind those powers, and ultimately, the accountability behind those powers.
I think that's why the Campaign for Liberty hasn't directed us to call up our reps and oppose this new bill...
If HR 1207 gets us closer to abolishing the system, or when the system breaks down, if it tells the people that fiat money is to blame for the depression, then we will have won-- then our philosophy will have won.
Maybe then we can raid the bankers' mansions with torches and pitchforks and demand our prosperity back...

to even get "to the floor" is as an add-on to the ridiculous regulatory bill that gives the FED sweeping new powers. Of course Ron Paul has to vote against it. Pelosi and Frank's masters' refuse to allow 1207 to be brought up as a stand alone bill because it would pass no problem and they know it. So, it's possible we may get the audit, BUT we will also get a HORRIBLE new law giving even more power to the FED. Our "system" blows. Nothing good will ever come from this government.
At this point it might be better if Dr. Paul sat back a joined their conversations. Lots of softball question allowing for quick clear answers. I noticed Peter Schiff also trying to cram as much information in his time as possible. Its overwhelming and confusing to newbies. That heavy lifting of education and information is our job and our other friends around town. If Ron and Peter and others set the hooks we need to reel em in. Our "Catch and Release Program"
We keep getting the talking point, from the powers that be, that: We don't want the institutions who go to the discount window to perceived that they are in financial difficulty.
Well what if our response to this statement was:
Well if those institutions want privacy in their loan taking, then why don't strike a deal with another PRIVATE lending institution. But if the people are liable then the details should be made public.

Ron Paul's bill might end up inside a larger bill GIVING THE FED MORE POWER. I think the banksters got to Frank, and want to kill an audit so badly, they are ready to punt the financial takeover Frank's Bill, until the Fed rage settles.
Frank's bill is unconstitutional, so RP will vote against it. Giving the Fed more power is not a popular sentiment right now either.
HR 1207 might go down in flames, as Barney wants it to.

The irony is that Ron Paul will not be able to vote for his own audit, because he will not be able to vote for Barney Frank's unconstitutional bill.
