This sounds like something to make a priority for first thing Monday morning.

With all due notice to the well-articulated concerns and qualifications by the commentators below, this seems like a worthwhile pursuit for Rand's supporters.

First off, before I express concern, let me applaud you for your efforts. I think this is a good strategy.

But let's not be fooled into thinking it's a "can't-miss" one.

Club for Growth may not be "establishment," but that doesn't make it "anti-establishment" either. They have become a powerhouse, as you put it, and are unlikely to want to tarnish that image.

I know some people who have been very key in their organization (full-time staff), and they're usually conservative across the board. I did say "usually." Some are libertarian-leaning. Many leave their opinions on non-fiscal issues at the door in the context of their CFG work. And they've said previously that they're not a Republican organization, and want candidates most committed to smaller government, lower taxes and regulation, and maximum economic growth.

But that doesn't mean they're out there endorsing candidates who can't win or who will hurt their image. They're not endorsing Libertarians and Constitution Party candidates. They're trying to preserve their political capital for key fights (like Toomey vs. Specter in PA).

Rand CAN win. But he can also divide their base a bit. Flooding CFG could come off as "entryism" (look it up, it's important). It could result in pushback. CFG could decide to endorse Greyson (though I doubt they will) if they decide that only he can win. More likely, they could just sit this one out: at least during the primary.

Remember, I said this is still a worthwhile approach, in my view. My critique isn't intended to burst your bubble or shoot you down. I salute you for your efforts. But let's remember that there are a lot of confounding factors at play. Simply barraging CFG with random new recruits who want to join at the minimum contribution level isn't likely to fool them or persuade them to do anything. We need to get established donors to speak up on behalf of Rand Paul and let CFG know (educate them about Greyson's big government ideology) about the importance of this race.

Seems like a good cause. Free to join. The girl said that Rand is definately a candidate that is "on their radar", but did also say that there is nothing I can do directly to influence their support.

Has anyone contacted them about Schiff, or am I alone here? I contacted them via email and made a few suggestions as to why Schiff fits their economic philosophy, and that it would be great to have them as an endorsement. Since there are only 2 other people besides Schiff seeking the Republican nomination for the CT Senate seat, he has a very good chance of winning. Of course Dodd will be his opponent, and Dodd has an extremely low rating on the site. I think less than 3%. I think they would be very likely to consider endorsing Schiff to get Dodd, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, out of office!

I just called C4G and they told me too, that they are going to make an announcement soon that will please me, but cant tell me yet... Are you thinking what Im thinking? A Rand Paul endorsement?!

If thats true, then you all know we did a very good job guys (IF its true) and you all should be very proud of yourselves!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Click the "About Us" and "Our Philosophy" tabs on Club for Growth's website if you have questions about them. Perhaps they aren't 100% libertarian but they are aligned very much along that philosophy.

Are they "neo-con"? At first glance I say not but as always, it pays to do a bit of digging if you're curious.

I will be joining them tomorrow and asking them to support Rand.

Here is the link to the group Rand Paul heads, the Kentucky Taxpayers United. Don't forget to mention this group when you are talking to the club for growth! Knowledge that Rand is head of this group will have a big impact on their decision to endorse Rand in my opinion.
