Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT): Bring troops home!

My UT congressman, a very outspoken opponent of the bailouts and tarp funds as well as an original co-sponsor to HR 1207 was never very clear on his foreign policy positions in the past. I am ecstatic to read on Politico this morning that he is recommending withdrawal of all troops from Afghanistan!

Despite the unpopularity of this position with our Republican heavy weight senators Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett, this is without question the right thing to do.

Chaffetz won an underdog victory against Bush neo-con Chris Cannon in 2008. Very proud to have his as my house representative.

It's about time somebody in DC started pulling for

our troops to come home.

We need a specific bring the troops home bill to rally around.

Did any of you ever stop to

Did any of you ever stop to think about the politicians who get us into these wars are never the ones to loose their lives, or get their legs blown off? I can't understand how Americans can accept the idea that the very people who get us into these wars are able to avoid the consequences to their actions.

It get's worse. During the Cold War, while our politicians perpetrated the fraud of nuclear anhilation, we heard of underground shelters to protect these politicians while the American people would presumably be sacrificed. How can rational people swallow the idea that the very people who get us involved in conflicts that we don't have to be in, conflicts that result in the deaths and dismemberment of thousands of Americans, deserve to be protected?

Were it up to me, every time we got involved is a war, the politicians would be in the front lines. They are the people who get us into these wars, and they are the easiest people to replace.

You lead from the FRONT.

agree

.

We'd

see a lot less war, don't you think? I agree...

How Jason got elected

This group was started by Jason's campaign manager: www.ourcaucus.com/

They have done there home work and they actually know how to win elections.

this is hopeful--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I really do hope, however, that this isn't just a political reaction to a Democratic president.

Be that as it may--

In our community we had anti-war ralleys until Obama was elected, and now a letter to the editor reports that an old man who sits there alone even now was asked about it and said, "for the anti-war activists it was all about partisan politics; now that THEIR president is leading the war, they no longer protest it."

SAD--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Never heard of this guy

Never heard of this guy before. Anti TARP, Cosponsor to 1207, anti war. Seems like a good guy.

Contact him and see if he'll

Contact him and see if he'll go to the December 12 emergency anti-escalation rally.
