For the uninitiated, Colbert's entire character is is a parody of Bill O'Reilly.

I'm Glad they didn't mention "Ron Paul"
Well, not at first but consider, we need a convergence of groups to understand this issue - this was able to reach people who aren't open to Dr. Paul yet...or still don't even know about him. And remember, this is a movement - not a Ron Paul fan club. - Anyone who goes on and researches this topic will find nothing but RON PAUL! - It's all for the best. - And this wouldn't have happened without all of our hard work...and a certain Dr. from Texas. God bless us, everyone!

Thank You...
... Ron Paul, for putting the FED on the mapping and making us ALL aware to it and it's evil. Thanks to you and to all of us for getting involved, even people who try to avoid such issues cannot even escape the FED on comedy central. This movement has exploded, the FED is shaking in their boots and Bernanke is scared as hell. Its all because of Ron Paul, and now us, for taking Ron's Message and running with it.
END The FED!
Ron Paul for President 2012!

He does a bit on the Fed
and doesn't even mention Ron Paul? Shame, shame...

not many knew what the fed was. now it is being parodied on a highly rated show that has a great demographic. college students and young adults. what a great way to add to the ranks.
If this is psychops, it will backfire...
The key is that the Fed becomes a laughingstock. That is the beginning of the end.
if not that...
then its surely cyclops... or porkchops..

Who is Ron Paul?
Oceania has ALWAYS been at war with East Asia!
Its satire?!?
I think most of us get it by now. So when he praises capitalism with a back hand he is really demonizing it. So how is this clip helping us? Great, the fed is bad, Bernanke is the one to blame for it all, and wall street is not America. What does any of this translate to viewers as? No mention of Paul means they really didn't do their homework, or maybe they did, and maybe this is a distraction in plain sight. If I had no concept of the Fed, I would have no idea of the institution he was referring to. Does he even mention their basic function which is to make money?
Nope, all I heard is that the free market is evil, government save us from ourselves.

That's exactly why I think this was written or co produced
by the fed's publicist. Either that or they have Colbert in their pocket somehow. I refuse to believe he is naive enough to buy their bull, he's a sharp guy.
I don't know but the whole bit sounded like the standard fed prepared reply letters we got back from our congress critters about how the fed is actually a good institution and why we shouldn't look under the hood cause it would be bad for America etc, only modified and punched up for comedic audiences.
Throughout the clip he:
- Repeated all the fed talking points
- Poked light fun at their mistakes and laughs off their "minor" foibles
- Made up outlandish conspiracy theories and makes fun of the people opposing the fed as if that's what they really believe
-associated any regulation or auditing of the fed with some of the worst politicians in Washington, Chris Dodd for instance, right off the bat
- Had Bernie of all people explain and spew his nonsense for half the show
- Not once mentions Ron Paul
- Not once does he explain the real reasons why this is an important issue and what hr 1207 is about
- and finally he successfully gets America to laugh off and forget about this whole audit non issue
touche fed public relations, that was nice bit of controlled satire and damage control there, you're definitely worth the purchasing power you're siphoning off us. Wag of the finger Colbert, wag of the finger...
I thought it was a pretty good spoof on the Feds
Slowly, but surely, jabbing away at the Federal Reserve is "educating" people to really start to question them. Colbert is a comedian. One shouldn't expect him to take a serious political side. I find it a little amusing that the Fed is becoming the butt of quite a few jokes. That actually makes them a little harder to defend. Kind of like Tiger Woods being your sports hero.

I think this is dancing
with propaganda. No, mention of Ron Paul. Talk about tip toeing and pointing out sanders socialism to rile the neocons. I must say they are brilliant in their deceptions.
Can you believe this!
The man leading the charge against the fed is....Bernie Sanders A SOCIALIST.
No meniton of Ron Paul, audit the fed?!
Then bring Bernie Sanders on the show to give him a platform to spew his Karl Marx bull.
Watch the second part of after this clip, and you will be outraged.
I'm going to boycott Colbert Show

You guys do know this is anti - Ron Paul?
Colbert is a psy-op he means the opposite of whatever he says. Its a joke on us not supportive.
"Takes the Mickey"
He "takes the mickey" out of important issues and turns them into things that people can just get a chuckle out of and move on and never think about it again.
It IS a joke on "us".
Getting the word out is important..
But to the average observer he appears to be promoting a viable alternative for social cooperation.
Which is very dangerous given the violent nature of his Ideology.
New concepts for many
However we can get the message out, that's great. I am sure MANY of his listeners have never heard anything about this message and now they do.

As far as economic policies are concerned a communism and socialism are identical.
-Mises (this includes democratic-socialists)
Capitalism means free enterprise, sovereignty of the consumers in economic matters, and sovereignty of the voters in political matters. Socialism means full government control of every sphere of the individuals life and the unrestricted supremacy of the government in its capacity as central board of production management.
If a man says socialism, or planning, he always has in view his own brand of socialism, his own plan. Thus planning does not in fact mean preparedness to cooperate peacefully. It means conflict. For Marx and his parties, the interests of the individual classes are irreconcilably opposed to each other. Each class knows precisely what his class interests are and how to realize them. Therefore, there can be only warfare. Woe to anybody who does not bend his knee to fashionable idols!

I love you
man
we did it
thank you

wish sanders wasn't presented as "the leader" of the movement. but hey. whatever spreads the message.
yeah, is Dr. Paul Voldemort now?

Did Bernanke's publicist write this bit for him?
Pretty weak sauce colbert.
It's Satire
His character is a caricature of someone he thingks is ridiculous. By defending the Fed, he is really saying how ridiculous he thinks their actions and secrecy have been.
Sanders interview continued at...

The "imaginative interest rate setting" part was pretty good, for those who already know what they're trying to do is impossible.
Agh. I got incensed at Colbert when he brought on Gore to talk about global warming. It's not even a funny parody when lies are heaped upon more lies. Sure, days later Climategate happened, but he had an apologist on. He should have Gore on again, make him explain. Or just Monckton, case closed.
And when he lambasted Ron Paul during the campaign, days after beginning to sound sincere, that made me pretty furious.
