Social Security is a program that can't go on forever. Really it needs to be ended. It was just a socialst experiment that won't work. Anyone who want's to get out of it should be allowed to get out of it. There should be enough money left to pay out to those who have gone their entire lives paying into this bullshit program. So I think your mom would be fine. But you and me can get out of it now if we want. Otherwise the only thing that can be done is either to cut back benifits, or raise taxes on you and me.

If we don't fix it now, someones going to get screwed. If we have to screw someone I think the generations that allowed this bullshit program to become reality are the ones who need to be screwed, but most of them are dead already.

Without ron winning they are in a major hurts. Costs for doctors go up. Charges go up. Services go down. More people rejected from service...

Not even a choice here. Ron also wont cut them at all. Most he would do is put them on gold standard money and make them secure.

Dr. Paul is running for president. The president's powers are limited to those provided by the Constitution. The president can command the military around.
The president can veto legislation. He can propose budgets. He can appoint ambassadors. He cannot end SSDI and Medicaid without Congress. I don't think your mother has anything to fear. Ron Paul will not be a dictator and on this earth the only immortality we have seen is that of government programs that will not die and cannot be killed. Unless the system is overthrown, like what happened when the Soviet system collapsed, those programs will outlive us all.

From what I understand, if ANY of the other candidates win the election, your mother will have to take the National ID card to receive any government benefits. And I have a sick feeling that the National ID card will turn into the mark of the beast via chip implant. I believe Ron Paul will not just toss people out of these programs but instead, remove billion dollar departments and institutions that are "not" needed (dept, of education, homeland security, IRS, etc).

these guys are right. i tell you, that's what i love about us. we know where dr. paul stands on the issues. we're not just voting for him because of his race, his gender or his last name. anyways, back to the issue... she won't lose her benefits. we spend all this money on (stuff) we don't have to and shouldn't be spending it on.. he wants to stop all that and use the money saved to take care of the things we need to take care of here.. as far as just getting left out in the cold (like the media is trying to make it sound), for right now he wants to make it an option for young people to say, no i'm not going to be on social security so i don't have to pay into it and EVENTUALLY much less people will be on it.

Dr. Paul does not want to cut it out completely.He wants to pay for all those programs with the savings from bringing the troops home and shrinking the Federal Govt.The only way to pay for programs is to quit policing the world and nation building overseas,That would free up 100's of Billions of $ that is better spent at home.He wants to be a transition administration.It can't happen over night.

Congress raids the SSI fund for pet pork projects, and Ron Paul has been unable to stop it.

Ron Paul wants to shut down this plundering, and restrict the SSI fund ONLY for SSI.

That in Ron Paul's america, having our economy fixed would allow the more prosperous people to become more generous, and organizations like the Red Cross, and church-sponsored hospitals would be more prevalant.

Ron Paul has stated several times that he's not advocating just closing the door on people who depend on these programs. The objective here is to allow people to get out of paying into Social Security and Medicare and allow them to pave their own future. Using the money saved from reining in our foreign adventurism and cutting revenue for funding other expansive government programs (i.e. Department of Homeland Security), we will be able to take care of people like the elderly who absolutely depend on these programs while being able to ween off people like your mother and transfer them to the private sector.

Is that he will not abandone those who, for reasons outside of their control, have become dependant upon such systems. Or, in the case of Soc. Sec, the baby boomers about to retire who have paid into the system their entire lives. Surely they deserve their hard earned money like the rest of us. What Dr. Paul suggests is part of an all-encompassing plan. With the money saved by bringing our troops home alone, we will be able to start cutting away at our deficit, work on fixing the dollar, and there will still be money left for S.S. and medicaid.

Now, some might argue that such a sudden "shift" would be disasterous. Certainly Dr. Paul's thought of this. In the case of Soc. Sec, and with a gold (or something) backed currency, he would promote legislature that would allow for the OPTION to opt out of the current system and use the new, much better one. Once it's available, people would flock to the new system, and eventually the old systems could be phased out.

... that he would NOT cut off those currently dependent upon such programs. They could continue as they are, and the future funding for such programs would come from the HUGE savings engendered by ending our overseas empire. Basically, he simply wants to give people the option (you know - FREEDOM) to NOT participate, if they so desire. He's a doctor, for goodness sake! So he definitely doesn't want to hurt anybody.

Ron said in a 12/1/07 speech in New Hampshire that he has no plans to cut medicare/medicaid.

He wants to let folks opt out of Social Security if they want to, but those still in the program will continue to receive benefits. He will pay for Social Security and other such programs by ending America's overseas military empire and he will retrain Americans over the course of a generation or more to live a more self reliant life.

Mom's got nothing to worry about except for peace, freedom and prosperity.

if Ron Paul is elected then he will actually solve the problem. everyone else just wants to put a bandaid on the problem. we have to cut spending and he is right that is should come from our foreign policy...NOT medicaid and social security
