Mostly, we just need to follow the law! And ensure that our government does too. As incredible as that sounds.

This concept needs expanded upon. Every Liberty type answer to a question in an interview needs mention of this concept. The TEA party turds were falling on themselves with half baked answers. Explain the fundamentals, inspire debate, tell those who are wrong to go away;)

Liberty in a Democracy ...

The problem is, that e.g. the US tries to shape other democracies after its own mold. But the main thing is the respect for individual and minority rights. In fact, if that were a given, you'd not even need a democracy as he majority could never infringe anyhow. Thus countries which have ethnic diversity such as Iraq, Lebanon and the former Yugoslavia never were compatible with American policies and it ended in bloodshed.

Liberty and Democracy are Incompatible. They are opposites.

You either have a republic of laws which protect individual liberty and freedom, or you have any of the other collectivist governments, such as Democracy, Communism, Socialism, Fascism, etc.

The only thing you do democratically in a republic, is elect representatives. And even then, those representatives are restrained within the laws of the republic. They may not vote democratically on anything they want, they must follow the law.

We Have Neither Democracy Nor A Republic

We have facism soon to be the refined version--nazism. The march toward this received enormous help from the corrupt federal judiciary--starting with Marbury v. Madison. They have ignored the clear wording of the Bill of Rights and have nullified them.

Lets put some fault where it belongs. Lawyers and Judges.

Also, let's examine the wording of the Constitution to see where it went wrong. The Supreme Court's misplaced interpretation of interstate commerce is one that needs examining. Meaning being more restrictive in the wording and providing punishment to those who break the rules.

Amendment he mentions in the last paragraph of this speech?
He says it will generate debate and educate the people, protect freedom, restore the Republic. Has it been already introduced as a bill?

Liberty Amendment...

Has been introduced for over forty years by Statesmen including Dr. Ron Paul. It repeals the Marxian Graduated Income Tax in the 16th Amendment which has never been lawfully adopted according to the rules of amendments to the U.S. Constitution. When the FED is ended the socialistic 16th will not be necessary. I was formerly co-chairman of the State of New Jersey for the Liberty Amendment Committee of the U.S.A. chaired by Willis E. Stone. Willis Stone,now deceased, was a great orator, and brilliant in his knowledge of the U.S. Constitution, and freedom documents. It is billed as H.J.R.#48. Instead of going for the 16th, now he's going straight for the Fed? Or was the focus still on the Fed back then too?

It is a one two punch...

In order to restore freedom we must take back the charter of the Federal Reserve, and allow competing currencies in the market. Thus "End The FED." When that can be accomplished we Repeal the 16th Amendment, and the Income Tax will not be necessary. That will end all wars for the bankers will not be loaning politicians money for their pet projects at home, and we will not be cajoled into foreign wars which are not our business in first place. Cottage industries will be sprouting up, and local banks will serve that market to make new products, and jobs will be created by the free market without intervention by the Federal Government...-whzh-

Breathtaking in scope and clarity. This speech must be distributed in every media, every language. This is a major turning point in the fight for liberty.

We have the ultimate text, right in this speech, to answer all objections. I am guessing this may be a glimpse of the next book Dr. Paul is writing; he has given us so many gifts, and this is one of the best of our time.

It was great to be able to watch and read at the same time.



Reading and listening at the same time probably helps in learning, and I would encourage anyone sharing this video link to suggest that the speech be read while listening and watching.

From the quotes you posted alone, it's apparent that Ron Paul expected history to repeat itself back in 2003. He might be a little more optimistic that things can be corrected now.

The first step of correcting the problems in America is the foundational step of understanding that we are a republic and not a democracy.

The two of them could even be considered opposites. Democracy is tyranny by the majority. A republic protects individual rights with the law - against democracy and tyranny.
