It's coming through a hole in the air,
from those nights in Tiananmen Square.
It's coming from the feel
that this ain't exactly real,
or it's real, but it ain't exactly there.
From the wars against disorder,
from the sirens night and day,
from the fires of the homeless,
from the ashes of the gay:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
It's coming through a crack in the wall;
on a visionary flood of alcohol;
from the staggering account
of the Sermon on the Mount
which I don't pretend to understand at all.
It's coming from the silence
on the dock of the bay,
from the brave, the bold, the battered
heart of Chevrolet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
It's coming from the sorrow in the street,
the holy places where the races meet;
from the homicidal bitchin'
that goes down in every kitchen
to determine who will serve and who will eat.
From the wells of disappointment
where the women kneel to pray
for the grace of God in the desert here
and the desert far away:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
Sail on, sail on
O mighty Ship of State!
To the Shores of Need
Past the Reefs of Greed
Through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on.
It's coming to America first,
the cradle of the best and of the worst.
It's here they got the range
and the machinery for change
and it's here they got the spiritual thirst.
It's here the family's broken
and it's here the lonely say
that the heart has got to open
in a fundamental way:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
It's coming from the women and the men.
O baby, we'll be making love again.
We'll be going down so deep
the river's going to weep,
and the mountain's going to shout Amen!
It's coming like the tidal flood
beneath the lunar sway,
imperial, mysterious,
in amorous array:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
Sail on, sail on ...
I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can't stand the scene.
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight,
getting lost in that hopeless little screen.
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags
that Time cannot decay,
I'm junk but I'm still holding up
this little wild bouquet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
You know what? This is what I LOVE about Ron Paul supporters. No one likes to be wrong, but the typical Ron Paul supporter attempts to look at things objectively. The typical Ron Paul supporter is interested in discovering truth and changing their views to be in line with that truth instead of twisting the evidence to make their false beliefs APPEAR to be correct.
I had a hard time condemning the Iraq war. I was a two-time voter for Bush. For the longest time, I was convinced we were right to be doing what we are doing in the middle east. I had bought into the idea that we were spreading democracy, protecting ourselves, and that this was a good thing. However, as I listened to Dr. Paul, I realized that this man is right--the Constitution is where we take our marching orders from, and it it's not in line with the Constitution, it is to be rejected.
As a Christian, I hold a similar standard in terms of my doctrinal positions and beliefs. The Bible is my standard, and sometimes I discover that I have a long-held belief that is not in line with the scripture. This could be due to my culture clouding my understanding, a lack of understanding of the culture of when and where it was written, or that I was taught mistruth when I was young, to cite a few examples. However, once I recognize MY misperceptions, it is only right to acknowledge my misperception and CHANGE MY VIEW, rather than perpetuate the falsehood by twisting the obvious facts and continue to believe a lie rather than own up to the idea that I am not always right 100% of the time.
So, I think your comment is incredible. It speaks volumes and is reflective of the kind of flexible thinking that is characteristic of many Ron Paul supporters.
Yay blimp!

From 99 aerial balloons
And the fact that something like that comes of something like that

I think I can see how the reference to the blimp (as a balloon).
"On her way to the horizon to give alarm"
This song is about missiles being launched in a nuclear exchange.
I do remember cruise missiles and Pershing IIs deployed in Europe at that time. This was first strike stuff and the Soviet Union was VERY VERY afraid! Though they did have their SS20s targeting Europe. This was the deal. The US could launch a first strike from Europe and Europe would get blown up. Americans are so smart! The INF Treaty was a blessing for the world!
It's a catchy tune and it's got balloons in it -- 99 of them -- what more do you want?
Also, Nena is very cute.
One might also note that even Ronald Reagan was willing to negotiate nuclear arms treaties with the Evil Empire, a policy in line with Dr. Paul's prescriptions.
Seventy-three men sailed up from the San Francisco Bay
Rolled off of their ship, and here's what they had to say
"We're callin' everyone to ride along to another shore
We can laugh our lives away and be free once more"
But no one heard them callin', no one came at all
'Cause they were too busy watchin' those old raindrops fall
As a storm was blowin' out on the peaceful sea
Seventy-three men sailed off into history
Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip
Ride captain ride upon your mystery ship
On your way to a world that others might have missed
Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip!
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?
Would you like to glide in my beautiful balloon?
We could float among the stars together, you and I.
For we can fly.
We can fly!
Up, up and away, my beautiful, my beautiful balloon!
The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon.
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon.
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky,
For we can fly.
We can fly!
Up, up and away, my beautiful, my beautiful balloon!
Suspended under a twilight canopy
We'll search the clouds for a star to guide us.
If by some chance you find yourself loving me,
We'll find a cloud to hide us, keep the moon beside us.
Love is waiting there in my beautiful ballon.
Way up in the air in my beautiful balloon.
If you'll hold my hand, we'll chase your dream across the sky,
For we can fly.
We can fly!
Up, up and away, my beautiful, my beautiful balloon!
My dream would be
to mount big speakers on that guppy playing Wagner like in Apocalypse Now at 200 decibels then fly over Hitlery's outdoor meeting and drop rotten PP water baloons on those poor unsuspecting dupes.
Or find Ghouliani's office and fly that baby right outside his office window then watch Ghouliani's mascara run while he cries, and see his panties get all in a bunch, I have a dream !
We are making history!
This only the beginning. Let's double our efforts and keep freedom on the march!

R3VOLUTION
-The Beatles
-------------------------------------
You say you want a r3volution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be
Alright
Alright
Alright
You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're all doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be
Alright
Alright
Alright
You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We'd all love to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You'd better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be
Alright
Alright
Alright
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, alright,
alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, alright,
alright, alright, alright, alright, alright...

A good antiwar song . . . the song IS very appropiate!
Ride Captain Ride Upon Your Mystery Ship!
That's the song that should go with this!
ARTIST: Blues Image
TITLE: Ride Captain Ride

Mystery Ship is a good one
I've thought about that song a few times lately, as one which would make a good RPR vid. Good music, some perfect lines... yeah.
(BTW, that last sentence sounds like a description of a great party from about 1981, huh?)
