New Ad Comments
Advertising is 30 second story telling and these ads arent telling a consistent competent story.
Why are Mike Huckabee's ads better and he has less money? Come on guys. The grassroots is doing its part. You have to hire competent production houses to put out these ads. I've worked in the film/tv business for almost 10 years. Say the word and I'll do a conference call with your ad guys in a heart beat.
These TV ads lack polish and are EASILY rectified by simply shooting in film or HD, using powerful excerpts from speaking engagements and speaking to issues that people have with Dr. Paul.
The health care spot totally neglects to mention that Ron Pauls is "the only candidate with a concrete plan to fully fund medicaid". Seniors need to know that his fiscal responsibility will help them with their retirement years. Opportunity lost. Its great to have the youth vote but seniors turn out in droves. Why didnt this ad speak to them?
None of the ads show the same actors so this new guy from the health care spot has nothing to do with the last ads. There's no theme that can build in the voters mind.
Look at Hucks visuals...

Look at Huckabee's ads? Simple and to the point with nice production values and HE HAS LESS MONEY...
The Ron Paul ads also dont take advantage of any of the visual cues that people see attached to Ron Paul...the familiar RON PAUL R3VOLUTION logo that they will see on lawn signs and over freeways. This is story telling ...but wheres the story? Whats the brand your selling? Just because its the truth doesnt mean it shouldnt be packaged in a more relevant, hip fashion.
There's no excuse for these ads anymore. Please start putting Dr. Paul in the appropriate light. People have to see him as a winner not a "spoiler" or potential 3rd party candidate. These ads do nothing for what is the best message in presidential politics in over 20 years.

THIS IS THE TYPE OF AD THATS NEEDED
MY SUGGESTION IS TO FOCUS ON DISSPELLING 3 MYTHS ABOUT RON PAUL WHILE BOLSTERING HIS IMAGE
1. MYTH: He's not "really" a republican
Answer: Spot that shows quotes from Ronald Reagan with pictures of when Ron campaigned for him. Ron does a voice over of what Ronald Reagan meant to him and what being a republican USED to stand for. Also shots of Goldwater and other great republicans.
Effect: Dispels myth while putting Ron with one of the greatest names in Republican party history
2. MYTH: He's "weak" on the war
Answer: The Beer commerical idea on a smaller scale. Ron talks about what it was like to lose friends in the war and to treat guys who went into battle and never returned. Visual of serviceman on the phone with his wife. His young daughter in her arms. Spot ends with Ron saying "...Lets bring our men and women home safely and secure peace on our borders" with the visual of the Serviceman being greeted by his wife at the front door of their home.
Effect: Dispels myth while letting emotions of our military coming home really resonate. This spot will get a lot of Dems to reconsider and look at Ron Paul again.
3. MYTH: He's crazy
Answer: " Some people think my ideas are a bit over the top. I remember when my views were considered normal in the republican party. Following the constitution. Small government. Freedom. Liberty. In my books crazy isnt defending the constitution. Crazy is not saving money and expecting to take care of our seniors who depend on social security while our country's debt skyrockets. We need a sound domestic policy that will improve our kids educations, fund medicare and reduce taxes. With me as your president I'll make sure that the job gets done."
(these line needs improvement)
Effect: dispels myth by showing that he's not crazy but just a patriotic American you can trust. Someone whos got principles and a realistic strategy for funding senior care
Feedback welcomed.
I loved the new Ron Paul ad!
Sure, the ad was not up to Industrial Light and Magic standards, but the guy in the health care ad was great. He was very forceful and energetic. The message was great, too: big corporations lobbying the government for their interests, and then the governament failed to provide basic medical care.
After typing that, I just checked out ol' Huck's ads. Now, I see what you mean in comparison. Now, I'm pissed off, too. Gee, thanks!
At least we have eLib3rty:

Let the campaign HQ know how you feel.
If there's something you don't like about the campaign, I believe it's important to let them know.

already sent the email
already sent the email before posting this. If he doesnt win or at least come 3rd in New Hampshire the battle gets tougher right up to Super Tuesday. The ads have to have more national appeal. These are unacceptable.
indeed
but this ad was better than the first two. Honestly I think a lot of us can do better, (as witnessed by youtube) but I don't think Paul knows how to market himself.
His biggest problem at this point is his lack of presidential demeanor. He seems weak and frivilous rather than strong and presidential. His issues are amazing but without the candor of a president many people will not vote for him.
His commercials now need to show him in a strong and presidential manner, and not as the grassroots man.
If people see a stoic Paul with his head held high on the long road ahead, there will be a much needed presidential shift in his marketting campaign.
Exactly my point. He needs
Exactly my point. He needs to be shown in a more promising strong and convincing light.
I Agree
I Agree
Yeah
Muck Huck has an endearing ad alright..
I just don't understand who is making the decisions on ads at Dr. Paul's campaign..
BUT THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED..
WE ARE TRYING TO WIN A CAMPAIGN...
You know what impresses me.... 3 of Dr. Paul's FIVE kids are DOCTORS THEMSELVES.. and Dr. Paul had 4 brothers and they all lived in a 4 room house.... He put himself through college.. and his kids through college.... and you know what...
RAISING HIS KIDS WITH THE VALUES HE WANTS THE COUNTRY TO HOLD TURNED OUT PRETTY DAMN GOOD!!
WHERE IS THAT MESSAGE???????
On the health care ad.
The official campaign's main ads are just average, including this one on health care. I thought that the sign on his desk was a bit cheesy - looked a bit too heraldic and made him look old and out of date, like historical footage.
I liked the one of the vet done by Operation NH much better, although that ad was totally about vets, and this one was on health care, so apples and oranges.
I think that now there are so many great videos of Dr. Paul speaking on so many topics; the campaign needs to organize them all, or links to them all, so people looking for into can just relax and listen to them.
The infomercials have already been done, in a sense, by the Newsweek and ABC interviews, by THE VIEW appearance, by the Nashua Telegraph editorial interview, etc.
Going out with my Slim Jims tomorrow.
Huckabee's ads are quite
Huckabee's ads are quite effective. Ron's staff needs to hire a professional campaign advertising agency for at least a 3 ad series... they have the money to do so now, if they don't foolishly blow it again. $#@!!
Im in the media business.
Im in the media business. the cost difference is nominal here and Dr. Pauls gotten a LOT of PR steam from the grassroots "money bombs" , jay leno, blimps etc. We deserve to know we're supporting a serious contender here. You cant be a fiscal conservative when it comes to ads....
