I think there isn't any

I think there isn't any state, any country in the world it name democracy itself. The modern concept of the democracy joins Constitution, human rights, balance of powers, universal suffrage, Parlament and civil society.

Then, USA is a democracy like Spain, for example.

Democracy is an excuse to violate the laws of Republics.

The USA is a Republic being violated by democracy.

"Democracy is the road to socialism."

Karl Marx

However, he also said:

"I am not a Marxist."

Which also makes him a liar.

FA Hayek- The Road To Serfdom

Chapter 5- Planning and Democracy

"The fashionable concentration on democracy as the main value threatened is not without danger. It is largely responsible for the misleading and unfounded belief that, so long as the ultimate source of power is the will of the majority, the power cannot be arbitrary. The false assurance which many people derive from this belief is an important cause of the general unawareness of the dangers which we face. There is no justification for the belief that, so long as power is conferred by democratic procedure, it cannot be arbitrary; the contrast suggested by this statement is altogether false: it is not the source but the limitation of power which prevents it from being arbitrary. Democratic control *may* prevent power from becoming arbitrary, but it does not do so by its mere existence. If democracy resolves on a task which necessarily involves the use of power which cannot be guided by fixed rules, it must become arbitrary power."

Good topic! Here's another great educational tool. Most here have seen this favorite but I like to post just in case some have missed it. It's a keeper and worth more than one viewing.

A republic isn't freedom either. In fact, any form of...

...government isn't freedom. Unless your definition of freedom is 'do as you're told or else'.

It depends on how it is set

It depends on how it is set up. There has to be some structure for sovereigns to deal with each other justly and fairly.

A simple free republic could look something like this. The Law form is natural law i.e. You oppress no one, don't lie, steal, cheat, plunder, murder, etc. Don't violate anyone's rights or harm anyone except in self defense. There is no crime unless there is an injured or damaged man or women.

An assembly or council is set up with your neighbours to protect and preserve your rights, The do not pass new laws since they already agreed to the law form, they simply protect rights, and discuss affairs that might affect them and thier area. If they wish to implement something they can vote on it but it is not a democratic vote it has to be unanimous and if anyone objects then the objection must be overcome and voluntarily withdrawn by the one who made it before moving forward. The one who objects has to present a remedy also. That way people aren't just objecting to to complain or get their way, or for spite, or for no good reason.

What would they vote on if they can't pass laws? They might want to appoint a Judge or arbitrators to help settle disputes. A judge a clerk, the judges decision would have to be approved by at least a quorum of 24 from the council or assembly. And of course the dispute would have to be brought voluntarily by those in it. They might want to decide on how to deal with theft or crime that is occuring and appoint some rangers to keep the peace if there is some problems in their area. They might want to decide to join in with another council or assembly from another area to handle a mutual crime problem.

Everyone who is able and willing is a ranger and appointed one by his neighbours etc. Some of these rangers can be appointed by the assembly to carry out the Judges process.

This is very similar to how the farmers who created this nation operated and the ancient Celts who lived a thousand years in peace operated. This structure is a true free republic.

Of course many scenarios can be brought up and that is what the assembly or council is for on how to deal with them.

It's pretty simple and has worked even in modern times. Maximum freedom, mutual cooperation, and voluntary association to protect that freedom.

If I could find 30 people/families willing to work together using this type structure I would set up a self sufficient community on a county, and I know how to keep the democracy at bay using it. Problem is I don't think there are enough people willing to work together in the same county or move to the same county and do it.

none, though I support anarchy as a very, very long term

goal for all humanity, in the short run, without an attempt to try to restore a balanced form of 'limited' government between the extremes of tyranny and anarchy, your constant attempts here on DP seem to be an excuse for not taking 'responsibility' to apply your efforts towards at least something resembling limited government.

Are you a proponent of Jacque Fresco by any remote chance?

Actually, the political means sucks

I became active with the local GOP long enough to become a delegate to my state's convention where I heard and saw first hand how McCain was the chosen one, picked from up on high. I was active long enough to see how 'grassroots' politics are completely bullshit and to see how things in the political realm really work. Add to that the fact that I finally realized the truth, that the political means is nothing more than justifying theft and coercion, and poof! Here I am.

As such, I can not and I will not condone the actions of ANYONE looking to rule over anyone else by force. You want limited government. That's great. Would the limited government you want to see in control still extort money from me? Yes or no? If yes, why would I endorse the idea of anyone extorting money from me? If no... you're talking about a voluntary society and that's something I would endorse. Too bad there's not a single candidate out there running for any office who'd do such a thing.

As for responsibility... I'm all for it. I'd like to see the people responsible for ordering the deaths of millions held personally responsible. I'd like to see the people responsible for killing the innocent held responsible. I'd like to see the people who extort and steal from individuals on a mass scale held responsible. But those are government people, and government people really like to make rules that say that they can't be responsible. Those people will never be held responsible so long as there's a government. Why do you continue to advocate for the shield behind which those people hide?

There's no excuse for continuing to advocate for stealing from and controlling people by force. NONE.

Yes, the politcal means today sucks very much.

I too am involved in the dirty beast called GOP.

I will never forget what took place at our State convention in 2008, the soviet tactics used to ensure 'McCain people' as RNC delegates. It was beyond repulsive. They created pre-printed ballots with their 'Conservative Delegate Team' they called it.

On either side of their State Committee were these massive red vinyl tarps with large white letters, 'Conservative Delegate Team' and the list of their 14 delegates. 42% of the 1736 delegates were Ron Paul delegates and we demanded nominations from the floor. Had a standing vote and the Chair declared we LOST! Despite people in the bleechers above could see we won hands down. We were not allowed to 'write in' our Ron Paul people or they would be disqualified.

Many people wrote severe profanity on their ballots in disgust. I didn't fill one out. Wouldn't give any of them satisfaction of even a swear word. Such were these Rove tactics used.

They had barred Dr.Paul from speaking at our convention that morning. He had to speak in the park behind the center. Then we had to bear Karl Rove speak for an hour. Some of us were booing him. When he left with all his 12 body guards, we shouted at him, "Hey Karl, why don't you honor your subpoena, huh?" "Whats the matter, you guilty?"

Then just before reaching his car, 'We Are Change' caught up with him and filmed their questions to him on you tube!

As for holding all those responsible for all the murder and mayhem in other countries and the outright stealing from 360 million people at home here, I can only give it over to the Divine forces of this Universe since it knows every hair on each our heads nothing goes unnoticed.

I will trust that those who would feel they escaped man-made laws cannot escape universal laws. I know that is impossible to escape. So I trust they will each reap whatever they have sowed.

As for supporting extortion through limited government I will have to say it is repugnant to me. I support pay as you go government so it shall remain limited only to its basic services and no more. That we can agree upon. But I am afraid we shall have to be patient while this entire system collapses and then be ready to re-install that which was already created for this land and truly 'live it' in freedom from imposition and infringement in all its forms.

Though I know the grassroots politics is complete bullshit, I am only there for one reason and one reason only. To be there when Dr.Paul may once again run for president. As soon as I find out he will not run, I quit.

I hate politics with all my heart, but I also cannot stand to be ruled by inferiors either, so I have to make a choice and it is to be involved for now.

The only 'real' thing that I am willing to give my all to is the 'Articles of Freedom'. I just created a meet up for these so others can come and learn what this is.

Other than that I hate political parties. They're a travesty, but a necessary evil right now as those of us work hard to have our Rule of Law restored at all levels.

I would rather get back to making my beautiful pottery and work in my gardens then feel compelled to be involved in such travesty. So I am with you there dear.

But chin up and hang in there. We will get through this icky period and it will be worth the patience and perseverance.

I think I'd enjoy calling you a neighbor and a friend

A while ago, I heard an analogy which rang true to me. It went something like this...

If there's a scale that measures freedom and liberty that reads from 1 to 10 with completely free being a 1 and complete tyrany being a 10, and most people are somewhere around a 7, in order to get that scale back to where it ought to be where would you put the most weight?

I'm the guy jumping up and down on zero.

Ha ha!

You can count on me to jump up and down with you on that big fat zero! LOL! Besides, I need the exercise... :)

Nice

Facebooked. The only thing I would have added is this: "The difference between a democracy and a republic was simple. Would we live under the age old concept of the rule of man or the enlightened rule of law?" - Ron Paul

Free yourself.

True!

And yet, how did this happen?

Who injected "democracy" into America?

Franklin Delano Rosevelt.

He mentioned the 'D' word throughout his campaign. Socialism was alive and well despite the horrors of the Soviet Union and the Eastern bloc countries. America was taken by surprise because of ignorance and uneducated public, the hardship of the depression 'softened up' the people to be more responsive to socialism and let go of their American ideals.

Benjamin Franklin said it best...

Let the people think they are governing and they will be governed, because you cannot have five wolves and one sheep voting on what to have for supper.
