Correction: Ron Paul's Speech AT The Straw Poll

Most of the votes seem to have been cast before the speeches were given.
Polls opened at 9am, Ron spoke at about 2:30.
The folks that Mitt bussed in were escorted directly to the polls to vote as soon as they got off the bus.
Also, the Brownback buses arrived after the speeches for some reason.

I was expecting 12-13% for Ron, so I'm not disappointed that he got 9%, I just wish they did not open the polls until after the speeches.

Dear Laura.

Subject: Tasteless

Paul is not crazy and nether are his supporters.

You naturally understand that.. you know that type of language is is simply used against him politically. Much like calling Bush "stupid" or "incompetent". So... why are you all so happy to be party to it? Are you so arrogant that you believe that you have all the answers and all other opinions, are wrong, unpatriotic, or crazy?

It's clear that Ron Paul has run not to win but to simply to talk about some of the "forgotten" issues that are so important to this country. The Constitution, our founding fathers, the message of freedom and liberty, the immorality of our tax system, and the terrible dangers of having a powerful government. Just who the hell are you to scoff at such a message that is at the very root of America?

Grow up Laura.

Tasteless

I'm not sure what the prior post was in reference to, as it's not on this page. But I must disagree with one statement made by JayDee.

"It's clear that Ron Paul has run not to win but to simply to talk about some of the "forgotten" issues that are so important to this country."

I'm not sure where you've been during the campaign, but Ron Paul is not out there just to spread a message, he IS most definitely out the to WIN the presidency.

Where's your faith bro?

It's just a letter I wrote

It's just a letter I wrote to Laura based on her introduction in the video.. (Yes, things have changed now that Ron is popular, I know he's in to win.)

You have to see that the people of America no longer understand what a right is.. they have forgotten what liberty means.. Those of us who do know can not simply elect someone and return to a free nation. We must educate a great number of people first, then by doing that they themselves will demand liberty from their government.

If you look around these days you will see people turning to government as the first solution to any and all problems. (What is the federal government doing about bridges?) As things sit, we could not write another constitution without it being worse then our current state. It would be thousands of pages long and contain entitlements to every whim we could dream of.. it would be essentially total tyranny with the power belonging to the government and little if any to the people. We cant fix it until we understand liberty until we educate people.. and Professor Ron Paul is moving heaven and earth for that effort.

"Freedom can exist only in the society of knowledge. Without learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights, and where learning is confined to a few people, liberty can be neither equal or universal." -- Dr. Benjamin Rush, 1786
