Mormons Rule! (Jackson, WY)
In mid-2007, while in my mid-thirties, I took my first serious look at national politics. Over a 6 month period, I attended 18 political meetings with local grassroots supporters of my preferred political candidate, Ron Paul. As with the other members in my group, I had arrived at my conclusions based on careful reflection of historical, social theory, philosophic and moral considerations. I was proudly moving forward and participating in “the process.”
We had several possible strategies to use to help get our candidate elected, some legal but not ethical, some ethical and legal. Our group decided to participate in our county’s precinct caucus and volunteer to become precinct delegates. While this was a transparent and politically-unsophisticated choice, we felt that if we wanted to bring honestly back into politics; we should do things ethically! Some members of our group were leery because they felt that they would face ostracization in their business lives from one of our candidate’s opponent’s church members. I argued that the LDS church was not so cliquish as in decades past and that as well-educated citizens, we should do our part.
Approximately 20 supporters of my presidential candidate came to the precinct caucus. We had talked about whether or not we should identify ourselves as Ron Paul supporters or if we should blend into the crowd. We knew that if we blended in we would have a better chance of being elected as delegates by folks that simply liked us, but we decided to be transparent and wear our Ron Paul stickers.
There were many people at the caucus, but I assumed that it was normal. I was impressed with all the people I spoke to that had braved the cold and taken time out of their busy lives to participate in the process. I noticed several things that other members of our group also noticed. Most of the people attending were known members of the LDS church. Many of them were not sure why they were there but were being given Mitt Romney stickers and a quick briefing by other church members at the door. A room upstairs was set up with a DVD player and babysitters and was full of children.
I later learned that the precinct caucuses had about double-to-triple the normal number of attendees. Some of my friends that attended (that do not support Ron Paul) said that the “church” clearly came out to defeat the Ron Paul supporters. Deductive reasoning leads me to believe that church members were asked to show up and told that it was important for Mitt Romney. They did. In hindsight I realize that when a couple of my LDS friends approached me at the caucus and asked me what I thought of it; I naively thought they were being friendly and completely missed their “victor’s gloat.”
I, and my group, were badly beaten. I am obviously disappointed, but I don’t think anything illegal was done. I accept our loss. The opponents were larger, better organized and less ethical; so it stands to reason that we would not prevail. We lost fair and square. I am however, frustrated that we were beaten by a large number of uninformed and dispassionate “followers.”
I will still work for a return to capitalism and true free market and hands-off, lower-tax small government as the Treasurer for both my county’s Republican Party and for my state’s Republican Liberty Caucus.. This experience however, combined with the unfair behavior of Fred Parady, our state GOP chairman, has very much soured me on politics. I hope that the Romney campaign and the state chairman are abnormal in the world of politics and that honesty and fairness is more prevalent elsewhere!

From a Christian to a Mormon
I welcome you brother. We all fight the same fight here. United we stand, divided we fall. Keep up the great work.
is everyone a mormon here
???
No...
I am an American born citizen, who still believes in the law of the land, and our Constitution of the United States. I pledged my oath to uphold it, and for all American citizens whether they be black, white, brown, red, yellow, or green, whether they are Jewish, Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu or whatever. This is a great country, and we have great people, now we need to go back to our roots, and use the Constitution and take our country back.
We keep saying that people don't know what we know
We need to get some succinct videos, ebooks, pamphlets out that tell what we know and prove it. People think it is our imagination. They think the world could not possibly be taken over by elites who run it secretly. They don't know about NAU so they think it does not exist. (I can't believe anyone does not know about it now.) We need someone like Alan Stang or even Alex Jones, or some generally good speaker who doesn't even have a known name to tell the story with the proof and keep it as short as possible to tell it all. Instead of bits and pieces and speculation-proof. We need proof. Can we see the document signed by Rick Perry in 2005 at Baylor? Surely it is available. The document that allows the Canadian Army to come into the US. The documents that serialize bullets, keep guns from certain people, remove other rights. You get the point. Can we prove Chemtrails? We certainly can prove some of what Monsanto has done. Can we give damning quotes of their intentions. I know we can document their meetings. We could provide the facts and then follow it with speculations that we cannot prove. Set it out in black and white and very elementary and keep it as short as possible. It is a piece of work that needs to be done. JFK spoke to it, but it sounded like "someday" something bad will happen. Reagan spoke to it and it sounded the same way and "if you don't change your direction" we will be worse off. Too general. Politicians try to warn us, but they are not specific in order to keep their jobs or lives. Alex Jones warns us all over the place and is very specific, but it is piecemeal and some people have sort of set him aside a bit as being too far out.
We could almost pull this together just by documenting what has been presented on this site. People need to know exactly what they are voting for. We need to make the politicians say it like it really is. They are keeping the facts hidden. All of them are, except Dr. Paul. Let the people vote for what is really going on.
What I found frustrating
is that the Ron Paul message of small government, a return to the Constituition, self-reliance, family, and peaceful coexistence seems to be custom made for Mormons, yet when it came down to the vote they went with a guy who shared none of their political beliefs simply because he wa a member of their religion. My own sister, who agree with me on all the points I discussed with her about Ron Paul, voted for Mitt Romney. I couldn't believe it.
The votes of Utah has been my biggest disappointment in this election, I was there on vacation, there were signs for RP in every small town we drove through, signs in peoples yards, yet 90% voted for a guy with no discernible principles and a liberal voting record. On the positive side, my sister, a Utah Mormon by the way, says she see more RP signs now than before the election and is becoming interested in joining the Revolution.
Free and Brave
or Cradle to Grave
You can't have both
That was disappointing, but
That was disappointing, but Mormons are a very tight knit community of folks. On the other hand, as a white person I don't feel the need to support only white candidates. Affiliation with like-minded, or familiar-looking people is only natural. It's just an animal-response survival mechanism.

Mormon work ethic
I've worked side by side with a number of Mormons and found them to be extremely hard working people, and they are generally quite well educated. I spoke with them at length about their beliefs, and while I was not convinced to change my own beliefs in the process, I felt we all gained greater understanding.
As far as Mitt is concerned, if he were to display a record of concern for the Constitution and the real issues that concern our Republic more than his own political ambition, I might one day give him a second look.
If you give him a second chance,
You are giving David Rockefeller a second chance.
If you give him a second chance,
You are saying goodbye to the Republic.
If you give him a second chance,
You are welcoming globalism.
If you give him a second chance,
You are kissing fascism on the ring.
If you give him a second chance,
What you are doing now is wasting your time.
If you give him a second chance,
You have not learned how these people lie.
I gave Bush a second chance,

Another Latter-Day-Saint For Paul
I too, have been supporting Dr. Paul since this summer. Once I saw his history of service and sacrifie for basic American Fundementals, there was no question. I am actually ashamed to admit that there are people of my faith, using it, to promote themselves for political and monetary purpose. From pretty boy Mitt, the quitesential politician, to sleaze such as Harry Reid and Orin Hatch, these guys are part of the reason our Nation is in the mess it is. Actually Ron Paul represents my faith far more then these jokers ever lied about being.
Irrational fear of government
Orrin Hatch in a speech before the Senate about our Irrational Fears:

This was evidently in response to Dodd's threatened filibuster of the FISA act with immunity for the telecoms. A progressive blog site applauds Dodd for causing this "meltdown" by Hatch.
http://firedoglake.com/20...
There is little hope that Utah will support Ron Paul in the primaries. IMHO
Good for Dodd
Here is one of those "facts" of our rights being wittled that needs to be gathered together. Simply listed and the bill sited.
Unjustified paranoia
I'm an active Latter-day Saint who lives in a small town in southern Utah that has a high concentration of Mormons. And I'm a Ron Paul supporter.
I have yard sign out front and bumper stickers on both my cars. I hand out Liberty Cards to businesses I buy from. I've put up signs at intersections in my neighborhood and along the main street in town. I've canvassed in my own town, including in the area where other members of my ward (congregation) live. I've sent Ron Paul emails to people in my ward with whom I have personal relationships.
And not once have I ever felt that my standing within the church or the community has been jeopardized.
I've found that other Mormons are quite open-minded and tolerant. The key is not to make a jerk out of yourself by being argumentative, bringing up Ron Paul in every discussion, and discussing politics in church meetings.
Yes, there are a lot of Mormons supporting Mitt Romney. (The last poll of Republicans taken in Utah showed him with 65% of the vote.)
I think this is unfortunate, because, if 9/11 had not happened, I think Ron Paul would be doing much better. Mormons support the Constitution -- its importance is underscored in our own scriptures:
Unfortunately, Mormons also broadly support George W. Bush and the "global war on terror." Utah and Idaho (another state with a heavy concentration of Mormons) are the only two states where Bush's approval ratings are still above 50%.
Many Mormons see the "war on terror" as similar to stories in the Book of Mormon of the Gadianton robbers, a secret band of insurgents who tried to overthrow the Nephite government. What many Mormons miss, in my opinion, is that, at one point, the Gadiantons took power secretly within the Nephite government -- and this is more analogous to what's going on today.
Give Dr. Paul a fair hearing, and I think many Mormons would come around to his views (particularly with the concept of justified war as it is described in Doctrine & Covenants 98).
Gadianton Robbers
Hello,
My name is Dennis Carroll and I am not yet a Ron Paul supporter but have heard of him! I was brought to this site while searching on the web about the Gadianton Robbers of the Book of Mormon! I have been a member of the LDS church since October of 1995, I am going to give a brief history of my life before the LDS church.
During my high school years I became aquainted with different types of so called illegal substances and as a result became familiar with this culture. I began during the latter end of my high school years using a substance called meth and here is where it all began!
After using for a while I began noticing that I was being followed by people in vehicles that were unmarked as far as not having lights or sirens on them, they were for the most part regular vehicles, yet there were acceptions which I can not go into detail now as it will take to long. You might be thinking I was having paranoid thoughts that are many times associated with meth use, but I assure you this was not the case. I could not leave my house without being followed and it seemed they knew my every move yet I could not figure out how?
The first thing that started happening was my friends began getting arrested because of there involvment with the drug and because of this had to make a choice of either working with SACNET ( southern alameda county narcotics enforcement team ) or going to jail? SACNET has a motto give 3 and you go free! This is what they tell the public is the only way to get to the top dealers of the drug, but I assure you this is a lie because why were they waisting all this time with me, who was not much more than an addict at the time.
This is what they would do with those who agreed to work with them to be able to minimize or expunge there sentence. They would literally give them drugs to use and sell to set up those whom they wanted to bring down. This to me at the time was totaly against what was right, these were simply children who for one reason or the other go caught up in the wrong crowd or simply were brought up in a family that could not provide for there temporal or spiritual needs so they went looking elsewhere!
I am going to tell you now of something that happened to me one night while I was at home contemplating what was going on in respect to what I have been speaking about. I was thinking about going out to find my friends and to see if there was anything going on that night but because of what I had been experiencing I was terrified to go outside because of those that were following me! There came a voice into my heart that told me not to worry about what was going on out there but to go and do as I had planned and that no matter what happened out there that not 1 hair of my head would ever be touched! I took great courage in this because this whas not the first time in my life that I had experiences such as this, so I felt it was my call to go and do as I was told. I will tell you this that the things that followed were nothing short of miracles and divine intervention!
As I learned a little about who and what they were doing I became very vocal about what I knew and I believe they did not like me doing so. I also think that each time I was to be set up by them I was instructed to do something that would bring me home safely! I have so many stories I could share but I would take up the rest of tonight.
I am someone that does not like injustice and when I see it I have this passion or fire to eliminate it and this is what my intentions were at the time. I will say however that I was no saint at least not yet! I did things that were very wrong and things that I will cary with me for the rest of my life but we must remember that God is no respecter of persons and he will choose who he wills to do the things he asks. There came a time during all of this that I had given up the fight as I felt nothing had been accomplished and I questioned many times what it all meant and thought maybe it was all fake or self inflicted or maybe because of my iniquity I was not worthy to stop what these people were doing and I also hurt tremendously for what I had put my family through!
One night I got down on my knees and offered up the prayer of my heart at the time and it was to get away from what I had been doing and to repair what damage I had done to my family and to find the church that Jesus wanted me to go to? I could not figure out what church to join because there was so many of them and felt it very strange that they all confess to believe in Christ yet still argue over points of doctrine and acuse each other that they are going to hell! I asked the lord how I would know which of the churches were right for me and the answer came to my heart that I would know them by there fruits or by the way they lived there lives! I was not brought up in a church and the only doctrine I was ever taught was my favorite book of bible stories as a child, but I had been by revelation and from powers beyond my imaginations aquainted with Jesus Christ and I knew of his love for me and knew that the church I was to find would have these qualities within its walls! It was not long after my prayer that I met elders from the LDS church and was baptised into the church and left behind all that I experienced but it has left an immpression on my heart that I will cary with me to my grave! It has now been almost 13 years since those days and I have gone from living in my truck to being a falther of 3 boys and being married to a wonderful wife and have been blessed financially beyond my dreams yet I still carry this with me! Up to 3 months ago I had only had 1 prayer in my entire life that had not been answered and the prayer was about what had happened to me during those times and who they were and I why they wanted me, I knew the lord fulfilled his promise to me because I should have been dead many times yet made it through alive and did not doubt that it all occured for even my family knew it happened as I brought them into it and they were forced to see what was happening to me, remember I was very vocal during those times even to the point of having a nick name among all who knew me ( The Pope on Dope ) by the way I am not very proud of this but it is what it is!
I recently have revisited these experiences and was pondering what it was all about and the voice came back to me and told me to open the book of mormon and read! I did this and as I read the spirit unfolded who they were and has since revealed many more marvelous things to me about them and since I can not wright all night long I will have to make this short. I was told that they were the secret society of Kishkumen or the band of Gadianton and that they are had at this time among all levels of government and it is there desire to take over the government and the world just as in the days of the nephites. I am very concerned for the people of my church who think that our country is still being ran by those who uphold some form of morality but I know otherwise that it is there only objective to gain power, influence, wealth, over all the world at any cost! I know that my prayer has been answered and that what I have been shown is true. I know who these people are and I know that there intentions is the American Union that will combine the United States with Mexico and Canada.
This is all I have time for tonight and ask that if i offended you in any way to please forgive me as I am only telling you of my personal life experiences!
I will look more into Ron Paul because the lord has shown me that all three candidates who are running at this time for president are only the puppets who the gadiantons are using to achieve there goals. I know only Mormons are going to know who the gadiantons are but these are they who the book of mormon warn the Gentiles in the last days will overthrow our country and will bring destruction unto all the nations of the earth and it is my testimony know that they are here and are right before our eyes and we need to pray to our heavenly father that he will open our eyes so that we may know and understand who they are and what there purpose is!
Thanks for listening!

Why would grownups spend so much time and energy following you?
As an adolescent I went through a period of suspecting that unknown grownups were trying to alternately poison me and spy on me in the bathroom. After a couple years I escaped from this mode of thinking by realizing that I was not very important to anyone but me and my parents and that no competent grownup would spend all their time spying on me or attempting to poison me. Even criminals and secret societies are faced with allocation of resources issues, spending time, energy, and money where it will do them the most good. Think about all the bigger fish your unknown "followers" had to fry while they wasted time, money, and energy following you around for no apparent gain.
And let me ask you this: How can someone under the influence of paranoia-inducing substances affirm that their perceptions were not paranoid? Yes, maybe an undercover narc followed you once or twice but just think about that narc answering to his supervisor if he had spent gobs of time tailing you with no results while other users and dealers were ignored. Narcs have limited resources and must justify their efforts with results.
Maybe the voices brought you here to receive my message so you can finally be at peace about this.
At Peace
Thanks for your comments and I truly understand your point of view from a logical standpoint, but I can still not denounce what I have been through!
I am now 33 years old and have found peace through my relationship with Jesus Christ!
I did not post the comment to find people who sympathize with me or to try and sort out my emotions, this is something I did many years ago.
My intention is for people to be educated on what is taking place before our eyes at this time with the formatrion ot the trilateral union, which as I mentioned 1 of them to be the formation of the Northern Union consisting of Mexico, USA, and Canada, the other to be the European Union, and the last to be the Asian Union! This will be the precurser of the 1 world order!
Now Mclarin, please do not go into picking apart my conspiracy theories!
This is no longer a Conspiracy but fact!
Mclarin and all who are interested please visit this site for details, this is the organization that is running our country at this time! They have been preparing for this for a long time and they are now slowly releasing there existance very slowly, they know if they do this people will be less inclined to put up a fight!
http://www.trilateral.org...
I'll give you a little help with the people you seach for!
I am not a LDS and I do not believe in a trinity. Look up who the Khazars are you will find your answer there. They have been around forever Ron Paul was right when he said freedom is young tyranny is ancient. Good luck to you in your search
I am a Mormon
and I support Ron Paul. So does a lot of other members of the LDS church. I also agree that people are supporting Romney just because he is a Mormon and that they are not doing their research. I was one of these supporters until last June when I was talking to my father, he being a long time member of the John Birch Society, about it and he told me I should check out Ron Paul. So I went and hopped on my parents computer and watched the Ron Paul: A New Hope video and I was hooked, he had me at Hello as Glen Beck would say.
Now, what we have to do over here in the Western part of the US is not get mad at Mormons like me, because honestly we are very pro-Constitutional people and it does not take long to convince us that Ron Paul is the man we need in the White House, but we need to spread the word and spread it fast. Contrary to popular belief, us mormons are normal people. We are very patriotic as well. I live in Idaho and we have several meet up groups here. Our meetup group here also went to Jackson Hole in the beginning of December to canvas the city and gain some support.
This just shows us that we need to do more! If any body has any ideas please let me know. Thank you
Don't Worry
I'm sure some of them will come around. No one can stay blind.
Maybe a leap to a conclusion
shepardh1, You may have made a common mistake. You made the following comment:
I am however, frustrated that we were beaten by a large number of uninformed and dispassionate “followers.”
We often assume that groups of individuals who respond when called are "uninformed and dispassionate." Be careful of that assumption. Although it may be true in some cases, it is often not.
I, for example, read carefully, listen to candidates when I can, listen to media and alternative media . . . and make my choices. I believe many, if not most, do the same. If, I were asked to go support someone I felt to be a viable candidate, I would probably do it.
As and LDS, I am currently supporting Mitt Romney. I have looked at Thompson, Huckabee, never Guiliani, and even a bit Tancredo. I have been turned off for some time because of my initial introduction to a Ron Paul supporter. Although he was peaceful, he was aggressively overbearing, and I simply decided to to write off Ron Paul.
However, I watched Paul in Glenn Beck CNN program on the December 18th and listened to his thoughts. I have to think carefully about his foreign policy, but for the first time, I heard his logic and rationale for his position. Now I'm thinking.
I haven't changed my mind . . . yet. But I'm on this site and others, learning more about his positions. As an earlier writer said. LDS are hard to convert . . . but once they do, they are generally pretty solid.
U.S. foreign Policy...
Hi benarthur,
It's my strong oppion that the U.S. Foreign Policy is almost entirely being used to support and enforce that "great communist conspiracy" that Ezra T. Benson spoke of a few times. At least all my studies seem to point me in that direction. Good luck on your quest to find out more info about Ron Paul.
I think all that you need to
I think all that you need to do is read his new book, the Revolution A Manifesto. I am a bit prejudiced against LDS, myself, because all of their teachings say to support the Constitution when the time of it being threatened is at hand. Yet few of them seem to take that seriously. If they did, they would be watchful, and they would ALL be fervently supporting Ron Paul.
Watch this guy carefully.
He's currently a Romney supporter; just like I was. He's come across Paul. It doesn't take long.
May I suggest http://freeme.tv to anyone open-minded to Ron Paul? It's a very helpful resource.
LDS support for Paul
I tried to post a bunch of links relating to LDS support for Paul and it got flagged as potential spam that must be approved by the site administrator.
Until it is approved google Ron Paul LDS or Ron Paul Mormon
The results just might surprise you
Vote Paul 2008!
I'm one of them...
There's a Mormons for Ron Paul Facebook group, I learned about Ron Paul from a friend who is also LDS, I have spread the news and "converted" others, most of which are also my faith. I'm currently working on my father, (who is admittedly, still a Mitt supporter, but holds Ron Paul as a close second), and am talking to the rest of my family. Anyone familiar with LDS people will realize that they have a profound respect for the Constitution and everything the Founding Fathers stood for. Let's not resort to petty infighting, or group discrimination. Let's focus on our real obstacles and enemies, after all, when the good Doctor takes the Oath of Office, it'll be good for ALL of America, corrupt elitists excluded.
Hope you don't feel badly
when we post threads that have a lot of links it happens. It happened to a big thread I started a couple of months ago... I ''updated'' the original post to add a few more links and then it was flagged as spam - never approved and as a result the thread is lost. Doesn't really matter - but just wanted to let you know this happens.
WY has a lot of mormons and
WY has a lot of mormons and a rather small population...therefore it would be very easy for something like this to happen there.....but it doesnt mean a thing
mormons
Mormons have an extremely high view of the constitution. I think a lot will eventually come around to Ron Paul the more they know about him, and the more they see that Ron Paul backs the constituion and Romney doesn't.
The rest of Wyoming?
What is happening in the rest of Wyoming? Can anyone tell us?
Never give up
If you do the right thing over and over again...the right thing happens.
What they did has blowback.
What you did is called "making your own breaks."
I promise you, if you hang in there in every way, you will get your break.
Yesterday Colorado threw out the voting machines. Miracles are all around us.
We are all behind you and cheer you for fighting the good fight. You are an example for all of us.
We want it more than they do so we play fair and we play heard. Victory will come. The Lord's hand is in everything, even caucus blowouts.

Talking to LDS
I am afraid to speak out to LDS folks as many have large businesses in my town. At least 2 of our RP supporters have been told in no uncertain terms that they are at risk of losing their long-standing contract / business relationship with LDS businesses if they showed up to vote at our caucus last week. Obviously, the politically correct answer is that we misunderstood and that the church encourages all citizens to support whomever they want and certainly don't use shunning as a tool...
Going against principles is
Going against principles is a rotten way to keep a business relationship. Here is a silly joke about someone who sort of did that..but it was sort of a sham on both sides.
A Jewish man, Mr. Cohn had a business in an all Catholic neighborhood, so he went to the Priest and said he would like to convert, because it may save his business, The priest agreed, and after a bit of study, the priest dipped his fingers 3 times in holy water, and touched Cohn's head each time, saying "Cohn, Cohn, McCohn--now you are a Catholic, go in peace". So after it got around that McCohn was a Catholic, his business indeed boomed. He decided to take the Priest to dinner one Friday night to thank him for all of his new found prosperity. The Priest ordered trout, and McCohn ordered duck. Now, at the time, Catholics were prohibited from eating meat on Friday, and the Priest was a bit distraught. "McCohn", he said, " You ordered duck! This is Friday and good Catholics would not eat meat. I thought you were a good Catholic now. "Do not worry", said McCohn, "I am a good Catholic now and I will take care of it". When the duck arrived, McCohn dipped his fingers in the water and anointed the duck three times, saying "Duck, duck, haddock", and proceeded to eat.
Churches like that (no
Churches like that (no offense to anyone particular) should have their tax-exempt status revoked. I thought the church was to glorify God, not Mitt Romney.

Absolute power...........
As with ALL religions the well meaning practicing members of the everyday congregations often have no idea what the corrupt, evil and sick leaders are doing with all that money and power they have been given.
Let's look a bit further
Let's look a bit further down the road....
What are the odds of Romney supporters backing Ron Paul when (inevitably) Romney is forced out of the race. He definitely has his supporters and will pick up delegates in early states but, let's be honest, his odds of securing the nomination are not entirely great (he trails badly in most Super Tuesday states). There seem to be a lot of Mormons on here who claim that support for Mitt is not entirely strong or principled and I certainly believe that Dr. Paul's message of freedom is one that Mormons would want to support. Any thoughts?
I am LDS and a RP srtong supporter
I started out as a Mitt fan because he is LDS. However, I came to realize that Mitt does not stand for what the Church teaches in a LOT of areas. The Constitution is VERY important to LDS people and often talked about in the Church as important.
I think that once Mitt starts doing poorly in the Primaries, LDS people will look to Paul. RP is the #2 favorite of LDS and can easily become the #1 when Mitt starts faltering.
The church leaders (top leaders at least) do NOT support any candidate and every election time put out a letter that should be read multiple times in Church meetings that the Church does not endorse any candidate and that each member should study and pray about who would lead best.
So ... Be nice to LDS - Teach them about the Constitution and how to apply it in the Federal Government - They will come along eventually. And when they do, they will bring along the sheep that are now blindly supporting Mitt - Yes they will FLIP from Mitt to Paul. :) LOL
Check out the donor map for Utah .. you will see strong Ron Paul support from Utah and other LDS/Mormon populated states. http://ronpaulgraphs.com/...
I apologize on behalf of....
I apologize on hehalf of any member of my Church who offended you. What a shame; no reason for this at all. Each Sunday, and at activities during the week, my Church teaches that the Gospel of Jesus Christ should be lived through acts of kindness, charity, love and respect for the views of others -- and playing fair.
While many members of my Church are supporting Mitt; some are not. We are not because Ron Paul is more in line with the Constitution. Utah is one of the leading per capita donors to Ron's campaign. Ron will not win Utah (unless MItt drops out) but should come in second.
Again, I am sorry if anyone from my Church offended you, or did not play fair. This is not what we teach, nor how we are supposed to live.
Thank you for going out to the caucus.
Mormons are a tough bunch to convert;
But I'm one of them. And several of the ones I've talked to have. I think more than anything it takes just getting to know them and sharing the message with them in a setting where they'll think for themselves.
New Mitt Romney Slogan "Vote Romney! (or be excommunicated)"
I lived in Eastern Idaho for a few years as a non-mormon. Not fun.
Faith and politics
This issue is extremely emotional and has to be treated with much care. "To God what is God's, to Ceasar what is Ceasar's". It is a shameful fact that many politicians try to appeal to people's religious believes to get their votes. We are not electing our religious leaders, we are electing politicians.
I proudly drive my Ron Paul
I proudly drive my Ron Paul bumper stickered SUV to my Mormon church every Sunday. You know what's funny? I don't see a single bumper sticker for Mitt Romney. I think the key word in your post was "dispassionate." If Mitt Romney were not a Mormon, he would not have any Mormon support. It's just like women blindly supporting Hillary or African Americans blindly supporting Obama.
Don't be afraid to engage Mormons in a conversation about Ron Paul. He really is the candidate that is most likely to reflect their true values and protect all people's religious freedoms. Talk about the constitution. It's the key.
All of my close Mormon associates know that I am supporting Ron Paul, because they hear about it every chance I get. I don't get laughed at or yelled at. In fact, most of them end up openly converting or at least promising to take a closer look.
This brings to light a few problems that we may face
What is heartening to me is that the Mormon faith does not extend too largely past Utah and its close surrounding area. What this also means is that Huckabee will use the same tactics, however, which will be very difficult to crush. However, this means that in areas like New Hampshire, we have a great chance. True to form, the bible belt will be incredibly difficult to sway, but with key victories in northern states, we still have a great shot.

LDS Communities
I think those of us that live in LDS communities should simply focus on other parts of the state/country that have open-minded people. Unfortunately, even LDS supporters know it is not wise to "buck" the church... they will see a big drop in their businesses...etc...
I must give credit where credit is due... they answered the call and came out to support their own! Typically, this kind of loyatly is only found in the military, gangs and cults and not in well-meaning US churches.
Is there a difference?
...only found in gangs, and "CULTS" and not in well-meaning U.S. churches.
By the way, my group is, Unaffiliated Good For Nothings for Ron Paul
May I Unaffiliate myself...
...with your Unaffiliated Group? I, too, am benign, generous, ethical, and charitable without expectation of fantastical, supernatural, or eternal reward. In other words, I am good... for nothing.
And to address the actual theme of this thread, it appears that our confederates in Jackson, by attempting to play politics ethically and openly, committed the tactical equivalent of showing up at a gun fight with knives.

I'm not discrediting all of the LDS support...
..but it is a fine example of centralized organization. Romney is known to bus-in supporters for straw polls, etc. In his mind, the presidency can be bought, otherwise he wouldn't be pumping so much of "his own" money into the campaign.
