Ron Paul on Charlie Rose Show?

I don't know why Charlie hasn't had Ron Paul on his show, but a nudge of a few thousand emails might help. TV ratings soar when Ron Paul is announced in advance, and TV folks love high ratings.

It would be a fine interview; Charlie is fair and accommodating.

Drop him a friendly note; charlierose@pbs.org

By the way... if this has been done previously, let me know and I'll remove this blog entry.

Now I'm wondering how

Now I'm wondering how valuable a Charlie Rose interview would prove... I caught about 15 minutes of Rose's interview of Brad Pitt and was completely driven up the wall by his constantly talking over Pitt's mumbled responses. I couldn't follow the conversation at all. Man, that was a chore.

Good idea

I also sent Charlie Rose an email request. Good idea.

Only took a minute

Just mentioned that he was listed as one of Time's people that mattered and would make for an interesting interview.

Why not

I'll send a note. The inlaws are Charlie Rose devotees. Perhaps he is big in that demographic (retired folks). Maybe this would be a good opportunity to reach them.

Great idea

Sent him an email.

Charlie & Ron

Exxcellent suggestion! I have just sent Mr. Rose a request. This would be an interview which would bring out and amplify Dr. Paul's essence, and anyone who had not yet heard of Dr. Paul would come away impressed and probably yearning for more information -at the least. There is something about Liberty and Freedom and Peace and Prosperity and an Invincible National Defense which will guarantee we remain a free and soveriegn nation governed by the greatest political philosophy ever enacted into law via Our USA Constitution, and Dr. Paul has certainly demonstrated that he can deliver such a message. Thank You everyone for supporting each other in our common goal --you are magnificent.

Mr. Rose,

I think you have an awesome way of interviewing your guest. You have the ability to make the viewer feel that they are sitting in a chair right next to you and your guest.

My family and myself would truely enjoy you interviewing Dr. Ron Paul. This guy is so real and tell it like it is kinda guy. He's got a message that not only Americans should hear, but the entire planet needs to understand.

I'm a Canadian that appreciates what's good about America.

It's probably not the CFR...

I would love to see him on CR's show. He is a great interviewer, and the lack of commercial breaks allows for truly substantive discussions. But if there is reluctance for him to come on, just remember what channel Charlie Rose comes on...

The PUBLIC Broadcasting Service

PBS might be one of the first budget items Dr. Paul would line up for elimination. So, there is understandable reluctance to give too much air time to someone who would hasten the channel's demise.

Still, I have emailed Rose and asked that he invite the good Dr. on sometime soon. It will be worth staying up to watch.

Peace be with you.

.
...Did a good 1/2-hour interview with RP on the Newshour with Jim Lehrer, so there's hope for Charlie's show.

Once again, the media want to give the appearance of fairness (if not true fairness). So if they have RP on at all, it will probably be the last 20 minutes of the show.

Still, it's air time and valuable.

PBS

I don't think that the end of federal funding would necessarily be the end of PBS. My local PBS station claims during its pledge drive that most of its revenue comes from pledges, not from the government. The only reason that I don't pledge any money is because I am forced to give to them through my taxes. If federal funding of PBS were ended, I would start giving them at least a basic pledge every year. I know several others who feel the same way.

Charlie Rose is a CFR guy

Charlie Rose is a CFR guy and rubs shoulders with such people as Zbignew bRzzznskski and Kissinger and Rockefeller, but he also had Keanu Reeves on to discuss the Matrix and recently I saw the Beastie Boys on there for what was the MOST uncomfortable interview I've ever seen. Just imagine:

Charlie Rose: "So, Mike D, what is Brass Monkey?"

Mike D: (whispers something in Charlie's ear)

*Charlie blushes

Ya know? So don't count Charlie out on this one, I'm surprised no one's brought this up yet, because Rose is a great interviewer and would ask some really open and honest, relevant questions.

My short email....

Dear Mr. Rose,

Isn't it about time for your program to provide the people an interview with the man who has made our forefathers "cool" again?

Please sir, won't you consider having Ron Paul on your show before February 5th?

Best regards,

My request: Ron Paul on the show?

Charlie,

I love your show, you are a great host. I support Dr. Ron Paul for president and found out about him on the internet. I would like to see the good doctor on YOUR show... This way, people who are not regularly on the internet will have a chance to see him, interviewed by you! Please invite him on...

I look forward to it,
(me)

Charlie Rose is a long time CFR member

He has a lot of Council on Foreign Relations members and staff on his show. He is not going to have Ron Paul. John McCain and Hillary are the CFR picks, that's why they suddenly got all these endorsements. Lieberman is also a CFR member.

No doubt

.
The CFR does like to give the illusion of fairness on occasion. Not quite the same a true fairness, but ratings are still important to TV hosts who have sponsors (under-writers) and ratings.

Anyhow, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Sure he will. He wouldn't

Sure he will. He wouldn't miss the opportunity to have him on.

Charlie tends to lob more

Charlie tends to lob more softball questions than Larry King, but he allows plenty of time for answers and discussion. I'd say it would be a great thing if he were on there.
