Jeremiah Black TV Ads in iowa close midnight tonight

Hi Everyone,

Just as a temporary update. Funds are still able to come in through chipin and google donations until early tomorrow morning. I put up a temporary target of midnight to try and hit the 15k. If we hit 20k that would give us intro into more morning tv news shows. Once we get the final numbers we can post the buy and lock in the loadings. We will try then to post back to everyone on the site what the purchase picked up.

Reminder for ad posting locations:

www.operationnh.org

I've been trying to figure out

why there is a lack of interest in this, seems like something people have asked for and everyone seems to like the ads.
There isn't even interest on commenting on the thread I started asking why people were not donating to Operation New Hampshire :)

Many people on this site seem very fixated on "Money Bombs" to the official campaign.

Maybe its to late for Iowa, but that doesn't mean we cant get these ads running in other states, there are more Jan. primaries than just Iowa and New Hampshire.

Come on people!
http://www.operationnh.co...

Please keep donating

We still have the other early primary states to fund for these TV ads. If you have not seen them yet, go take a look, here: www.OperationNH.com

Please help.

To Jeremiah Black

Thank you so much for creating these. They are flat out, wonderful! I am behind you 100%. Please keep them coming.

Speaking of Iowa---HELP HELP EMERGENCY!!

Everyone's help desperately needed. If you are dying to pitch in somewhere but don't know what to do with yourself please know that there is an voter registration emergency in IOWA TODAY that needs EVERYONE'S HELP.

The deadline to register to vote in IOWA WAS this MONDAY DECEMBER 24th! That's Christmas Eve and the county courthouses are CLOSED MONDAY. TODAY is the real deadline!!! Register to vote republican in person TODAY at your County Auditor's Office in IOWA. NOBODY KNOWS THIS!

The WHOLE NATION of Ron Paul supporters must reach out to Iowa by any and all means TODAY before this afternoon when the county auditor office closes!
Iowa is a closed primary state. You MUST be registered republican and although those who are already registered to vote supposedly MAY be able to change party affiliation at the caucus be aware that the GOP website in Iowa calls Bush the best president ever and they consider Rush Limbaugh and Michael Medved visionaries and they may try to pull something. Go IN PERSON during business hours to your county auditor's office TODAY and register republican. SPREAD NEWS OF THIS in Meetups, Youtube video comments, myspace & forums. Somebody forward this to the GENERAL!
Somebody tell the ronpaul 1100!

jblackpost...there is NO need for your ads to lack funding

I made some comments here, on a different thread, about the lack of adequate funding for your ads and the campaign advertising in general.

Then I took the topic and announcement of tonight's deadline to ronpaulforums.com and stirred the pot. Now they are up around 8 pages of comments http://www.ronpaulforums....
and more than a few people, including I, have donated. My guess is you've got another $2-3K now, if your ticker worked right.

My point - or points - are in that thread, but the REAL point is that there are PLENTY of people who are willing to donate or "moneybomb" you and your ads. YOU MOSTLY JUST NEED TO SPEAK UP. Ideally, personally, as you have now, here.

Please do that TOMORROW and get connected to whomever you need to get connected to, in order to make one of a few things happen: Either (1) campaign headquarters wakes up and gives you sufficient support or (2) people cause a firestorm of protest until whoever is directing ad money at headquarters is replaced (this should clearly happen anyway, as the current situation is inexcusable and is costing us dearly) or (3) some system is worked out to get you the pulpit and financial support you need.

BUT MOST OF ALL THE OUTCOME IS UP TO YOU. I can squawk and get a few more donors but, the fact is, I have no credibility such as you have. YOU need to speak up and start your own thread or, at least, show up regularly to lend credibility to threads which concern you.

Thanks for your efforts.

Thanks, Tan

It could have something to do with the fact that I and another person, sent out over 75 emails to Meetup organizers about this tonight, too. ;)

Perhaps you're right

Yeah, I don't usually do that sort of thing. I have no experience asking for money, and I'm not terribly comfortable with it. Also, to be honest, I pretty much completely divorced from the business side of these commercials. I wrote and directed the commercials, but the website, the PAC, the states, the timeslots, the airtime costs, and all that stuff is seperate from me. In short, I'm the creative guy who makes product. The guy who handles the airtime and all that end is Tyler Sims. And the PAC that's collecting the chips-in at www.opnh.org and paying the tv stations to run the ads is run by a guy named Brandon. Anyway, Tyler posts on here a lot and answers most of the questions. I just hang out in my office and make commercials. I'm the creative side. Tyler is the business.

So, I apologize for not coming on the boards a lot and giving fund raising speeches. It's something I should've done, but not something I'm really good at or comfortable with. I'm just a TV director, and so I feel most comfortable simply doing that.

However, soon we will be setting up a website devoted soley to my ads. We are filming more after the new year, and hope to have around a dozen or so in total. And, as I said, there will be a website setup in conjunction with Trevor's legal help, where the grassroots can chip in to have the ads shown in whatever city they choose. It will work like the blimp, and not be subject to FEC laws. Except you get to chose where you want the ads to be shown- region by region, state by state. WIth the blimp, you paid for "airtime". With the commercials people will pay for "viewership head counts". The more money raised, the more it will show in that particular region.

This will be a good arrangement, as I will be able to work just making commercials, Tyler can handle the business, and the grassroots can be empowered to pick a state and city, a time slot, donate to it, and get the specific ad or ads they want, shown at the time they want, in the city thay want. The PAC that's currently showing the ads, won't be involved.

it would be great to see this happen.

OK, I contributed another $100 for Black Ads in NH

But my question is why people aren't betting that the Black ads won't work well in NH?

I think Black 1-3 are particularly good for NH! (I think Black #4 is geared more for IA.)

good input--in line with others input we received

We are looking right now at NH blocks that are available...cost are higher and limited for buys. Ad 3, since its 60 sec, for instance can only go on network tv we were told yesterday by the cable groups who are only taking in 30 sec. ads. if this ad 3 is of interest for people we will have to raise the donation bar NH significantly. Tell your friends to donate. Currently we had slated the same ads on the page minus the christmas ad for circulation in NH on rotation. Given the 60 sec blocking we will either have to remove it or get a 15-30k fund just to air this ad on network tv's best spots and cheapest spots.

My fingers are crossed

I'm very excited by what you are doing!!

Good morning Bump

Good Morning Bumpin. Thats the best kind.

thanks for the bump

Thanks for the bump!

Thanks for making this

Thanks for making this appear again. I've been searching for it and couldn't figure out how to find it. I'm not a Christian, but I know that this great ad is going to resonate with a TON of people, and I wanted to find it again to support it and I think that anybody who agrees with me should as well. This great ad speaks to more than just Christians. It speaks to anybody with family.

thanks and agreed

We definitely agree and appreciate your support

2 am feed the Baby Bump.

Oh and on the dialog between Tim and Black below, this is my two cents
.
Tim, I think it your assumptions are what are flawed.

"1, People groups are exclusive labels to define and market a product."

People think in groups, it is how our brains work. Deny your brain the ability to group things together and you deny yourself the ability to think. It’s like trying to think without speech, it can't be done. By the way I can always tell when somebody is really full of it when they talk about what school they went to. It does nothing for your argument and is much more offensive than you may realize. Something you also may not realize is that people who work hard to actually do things shouldn’t have to take crap from people who don’t do things. He's right if you dont like it do one yourself that you like better.

I am not a christian

and when I saw the ad, in no way did I find that it was indulging in some sort of pandering. It is a universal message. The only religious word used is 'church' and that is obvious when the overwhelming majority in this country is christian. I understand that church stands as an institution of faith and morality and a community (in most cases) benefits from it.

The good thing about the ad is that it has marvellously presented the argument for personal responsibility in a most appealing manner. I say it with complete conviction. I am not one for using superlatives, but this is a work of art.

bump.

I have to say

JB,

You are doing something people only dream of. Congratulations! Keep going.
Sooner or later someone in the MSM is going to realize how uniques this is, and that day each of your ads will be worth millions.

The logic of People groups

When you assume that people are all equal in rights then it becomes mute to say I am a Christian Citizen or an Atheist Citizen, Wiccan Citizen etc.. By doing so while you may validate That those groups accept that they have rights.. it highlights the fact that those trump one people group over another.. It is not consistent logic. Ron Paul has always inferred that Liberty is about the individual rights and nothing more.. You do a disservice to his logic by not just having some family saying while we are a Christian family, we love Paul because Liberty and personal freedom etc are for all religions, races and creeds and even those who do not believe.
Assumptions:
1. People groups are exclusive labels to define and market a product.
2. That liberty does not take into account ones beliefs. Liberty is innate in every person as defined by our Constitution.
3. Advertising to a people group that liberty is exclusive to their interests is denying 2.
I have nothing against religion in fact I am a theologian. I am a student of R.C. Sproul and other Reformed theological seminary professors. I have my degree in NT theology.. I respect other religions but will never say liberty is for this or that group even by inference..
God gave the natural rights to people... Not to party, religious affiliation etc.. This add cheapens my relationship with God and the liberty so freely given by my creator by raising my religious preference into the national dialog. Sorry I disagree with your methods.

straw man argument

Your whole premise is flawed because you incorrectly infer that the ad states that "because were Christian" we have these rights. No, the rights are common to all equally. But religious people have to worry about them being taken away in a way that atheists don't- just as hunters have to worry about their firearms being confiscated in a way that I personally don't (I don't own any guns). Ron Paul speaks (and I've heard it many times) to Christian groups this exact way, talking about how they need to preserve the freedom to raise thier children and preach in their churches without government oversight. In fact, the text of almost all my commercial scripts is really just stolen almost verbatim from Ron Paul speeches and writings. And no one here that's complaining seems to want to acknowledge that Ron Paul has personally seen the ad and really likes it. So, maybe you should be emailing Ron Paul and trying and convince him he's wrong instead of talking with me.

It's actually starting to get funny. It's almost as if I made an ad starring a newspaper journalist where he/she was concerned about losing 'freedom of the press." And then everyone complains, "Hey! How dare you make an ad targeting journalists! That's people group think! What about those of us who don't work in journalism! I'm outraged! Outraged, I say!" Um... all I can say is that if you make an ad focusing on freedom of the press, it's probably good to have a journalist in it. So, also with an ad about religious freedom. And since Iowa is about 98% Christian...

Over the last decade I've seen Christian voters go from being limited government advocates to big government advocates. So, I will make ads targeting them that re-introduce the concept of limited government and promote Ron Paul in a way that will resonate with their personal views, and show them that an authoritarian government is the last thing they should want as people who need constitutional protection in order to continue freely practicing the religion they love.

Anyway, thanks for the response. But, to make your position more clear, could you please write, film, edit, and score your own ad, and then post it for me to evaluate? I think that would really help clarify your position for me. Just email me when it's up.

thanks

Not a Strawman or ambigous argument at all`

By stating in the ad "As a Christian parent I try to teach" is an exclusive refrence to the idea that Christians somehow teach these things and via exclusion (i.e. the law of identity) you have said As a Christain (opposed to other people groups, by definition Christian is a people group) I teach X to my children. While this is good for marketing but from a logical prespective your excluding the other groups.

A is not B

Christaians are not like the others..

i.e. Other people groups dont try to teach personal responsablity etc..

The logic is clear and my premise is misrepresented as the word Christian denotes via exclusion a refrence to others tenants of faith or nonfaith respectivly.

I am not saying it is not a great piece of art..it has merit from a marketing perspect for sure.. but it send the opposit message to all other peolple groups.. We made this ad for you and not um you who may wear a turbin.. yamulka etc..

wrong again

The reflexive tautology you've ascribed to the ad is incorrectly derived from its content. From a logical perepcetive, I am not excluding other groups. That was your subjective emotional reaction.

The opening sentence is "As a christian parent, I teach my kids these things..."

This doesn't necessarily entail that groups other than Christian parents don't do this. Similarly, if I wrote "I as someone who lives in Des Monies, I am a citizen of Iowa", this (1) implies people who live in Des Monies are from Iowa but does not preclude that (2) there are people who don't live in Des Monies who are also from Iowa. People from Devenport, for example.

The simple law of identity is not what's under consideration here. It's not A = A, B is not A. It's A + B = C, which does not preclude that D + E might also = C.

The law of identity states a single object, A, cannot have two ultimate identities. But does not preclude that multiple objects A and B may share partial identities or characeristics.

I see what you're saying, so

I see what you're saying, so here's my recommendation TimC:

Start a chip-in to run commercials that represent different views.

pwnt.

Go man go!

Among other things man, you understand logic!

Keep going. We should have a money bomb just for your ads. By the way, did the official campaign show interest in using one of these ads? Just curious!

Operation NH

So you guys raised like 10k today? Thats great!

keep spreading the word

The biggest challenge we have is a shrinking lack of inventory with everyone else buying up air time.

We need to get our buys in now so we dont miss a region.

"Church government"

The mention of "church government" sounds kind of scary, like it's talking about establishing a theocracy. I know that's not what it's saying but I think it sounds like it.

tough call

Devon,

yah that is good point. Hopefully it wont be an issue in iowa. As we move forward we will get a larger portfolio of ads so this might help switch this ad in and out if this becomes a problem in some groups.

Hey, JBlack!!

I hope you know that there are more people here who *love* your ads than those who detract. And I hope you know that we are willing to back you.

I notice you are spending your time addressing many of the concerns. That is fine if you really think there is a simple confusion that you can quickly clear up; however, many of the concerns are more fundamental, tied to a different world view. Altering world views is not necessary, not your value added, nor even likely given the constraints of these topics.

I urge you to focus on what you uniquely can do, and let we who agree support you. Those who don't agree can find something else to support.

Please don't get lost in the negativity. Yours is energy that we need focused on what only you are doing.

Thanks for your efforts.

thankyou dennis...

Thankyou dennis..

keep telling everyone to donate. We need to max out that east iowa black fast to buy air time.

The challenge everyone needs to know is that in everystate air time availability gets less and less.

Time is against us and we need to push through the 75k quickly to make sure we arent locked out of the tv air ways

you're 100% correct

Yeah, I need to quit wasting time flogging arguments outside the scope of the this ad drive. In fact, I really need to be putting the new PAC info on the ads befor they get shipped out (I'm in NYC).

It's easy to get wrapped up in the negativity when it's 4 am and you've worked all day and are dead tired.

Thanks for the perspective.

- JB

Yes, negativity seems to be so powerful

That it seems to have inordinate power. But, we only need to shift our focus a bit to see that there's at least as much positivity sitting right alongside.

I hope I can learn to tune my awareness more to the positive. I think it's a more effective -- and fun -- way to live.

reLOVEution, Dennis
Government Education: "The best way to insure implicit obedience is to commence tyranny in nursery." - Disraeli

The ad rocks.

I think explaining how Dr. P's message of individual freedom impacts specific groups of voters only makes sense. Any voter wants to know WIIFM ("What's in it for me?") when it comes to a candidate's message. This ad answers that for the Christian voter. Good job, Jeremiah.
