Chris Dodd

Did anyone see the Christopher Dodd interview tonight? Is he all of the sudden ALL ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION or has he always been Mr Constutution? I sure don't remember any other speeches by him where he was so passoinate about defending the Constitution. Suddenly it's more important than even his Presidential Campaign...

That's a great video,

That's a great video, oquirrh. I am a CSPAN Junkie, and have been since the 1992 election. The folks that Dodd mentioned- Feingold and Wyden especially- have consistently been there on the side of the Constitution and the Rule of Law. We should do our best to help those people- on both sides of the aisle- that will help Ron Paul restore the Constitution and to restore our Republic when he takes office in January of 2009.

Chris Dodd

Dodd's whole campaign, from the beginning, has been about returning to the Constitution and restoring the rule of law.

I can't find his announcement speech, but there is a speech from February. Dodd is a good man. I have friends that worked for him, and he is the best candidate on the Democratic side (besides Kucinich, of course).

Is there a YouTube of this?

I was watching Dodd during his filibuster yesterday and I was SO IMPRESSED with his constitutional allegiance. I would like to know more about him too. He is a friend of the people.

Interesting

I saw a story earlier. Dodd has stayed out of Iowa so he could fight a provision to the FISA courts that would give the telecoms immunity for giving info without a warrant. Dodd threatened a filibuster and they backed off on that part of the bill. Regardless of his other positions like being in favor of giving government control over Americans Health choices he did good here.

We all need to stay on top of this and call, fax, email, or snail mail or elected reps and let them know how we feel about this. I see the comments sections on anything related to Dr. Paul on the net. I wonder what difference we could make with the same effort directed at our rulers.

fter waging an all-out battle against the Bush administration and leaders of his own party, Senator Chris Dodd achieved a legislative victory on Monday, halting President Bush's attempt to rush a Senate vote on a bill granting retroative amnesty to companies accused of illegally spying on American citizens.

Today we have scored a victory for American civil liberties and sent a message to President Bush that we will not tolerate his abuse of power and veil of secrecy," Dodd said in a statement distributed by his presidential campaign. "The President should not be above the rule of law, nor should the telecom companies who supported his quest to spy on American citizens," he added.

While Dodd's effort shows that a little leadership and backbone can get results, the battle is far from over. Bush is demanding that Reid get the spying bill passed -- with retroatctive amnesty -- in January, when the critical fight over accountability for spying could be overshadowed by a presidential campaign in full swing. The Constitution-netroots wing of the Democratic Party will keep fighting for accountability, thankfully, but it's up to the presidential candidates and the Senate leadership to ensure that Bush does not steamroll the rule of law once again.
