Group Admits Destroying Ron Paul Signs
"I just tore down a bunch of Ron Paul banners placed on chain link fences next to the freeway. They are made of Tyvek but come down real easy with a snipper."
next post......
"Tore down 5 more... Christ these things are popping up everywhere. Fortunately they come down real easy. It looks like they take a lot of time making them and putting them up. So they are just wasting their own time doing this. They put them up, I take them down the next day. "
This makes me angry. What is wrong with these people?

This is just an attempt to incite violence!
They are just fools who know no better! We can't blame them for their ignorance, but if they get caught...I guess they'll find out the hard way.
Don't get violent! Kill them with Kindness!

USe a Ladder
If you use a ladder and put them out of reach they will not bother
Rub a little do-do around
ditto post
Rub a little do-do around
Rub a little do-do around the back edges of the signs, it breaks them real quick from taking them down.
ROTFL!
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs.
Thomas Jefferson
People who Hate Ron Paul
I guess some people like the idea of American soldiers being killed for no reason other than to make certain interests rich. They are just showing their "patriotism".
Others must enjoy paying taxes to support all these "necessary" expenditures, like undeclared wars around the globe, and foreign aid (welfare) to the nations we aren't bombing.
Or maybe they resent a candidate who is trying to restore the freedoms that have been taken from the American people by our domestic enemies.
Interesting
Why does the cynic in me think if these were Obama or Huckster signs they'd be left alone?
My sign is my Garage Door
I painted my Ron Paul sign on my garage door. Like to see them try to remove that!
Raise them High!!
It has been my expierence that the higher they are the less chance they will come down. I tend to be the 'tree-climer' of my group (even at 40!) You can use a rope looped/tiedto each shoe at half the diameter of the tree. As you 'hop' up the tree/pole the rope has the tension to hold you. (learned it from a coconut tree climer in Jamaca)
There are also shoe spikes and laniards that work as well but there is no need to hurt/damage the tree.
I actually have pictures that show DOT taking down the signs on fences and pictures of them 'looking' at the ones in the trees and at eachother trying to figure out which one was going to climb it....neither did and it/they are still there!
circumference, maybe?
Half the diameter of the tree is its radius and constitutes less than a sixth of the trunk's total circumference. Perhaps you meant half the circumference, which may well be of sufficient length to get a good grip. On the other hand, you're the expert, and perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about.
Aspera ad Astra!
Pedantic Acrophile
Stencils And Spray paint
These guys crack me up. They are actually running around ripping down our RP signs. Their like a neighbor watch program gone horribly wrong. Guess I'll have to switch to stencils and spraypaint. Wonder if they have a portable sand-blaster?
hahaha
they take them down, I keep on putting them up again!
I had 60 signs
up all over town and about 15 have disappeared. Replace 'em? The ground is frozen and covered with a foot of snow. I need a thaw!
Better Idea
Why dont we jump on their forums and get a few of these guys to watch Stop Dreaming. Having these guys on our side would be twice as good as another random supporter....
Mission Statement Violation
CAUSS........Citizens Against Ugly Street Signs...........I happen to think all Ron Paul signs are beautiful!
Their mission statement on their home page says nothing about political signs.
Examples include got junk?, single?, single in (your city), (your city) singles, looking for love, I buy houses, we buy Houses, I buy homes, rent to own, lease purchase, avoid foreclosure, sell your house in 9 days, sell your home in 7 Days, CEO income, cash for your home, real estate apprentice wanted, work at home, work from home, I lost 40 pounds, have a pc, and quality affordable health insurance.
Vote Paul 2008!
Use a ladder
and a heavy duty Staple gun. Place the sign about 9-12 feet off the ground and go with a buddy for safety
These items will help you to post your signs high up on wooden poles that are owned by the local power companies.
The power companies will not take the time to remove your signs for a year and private individuals will be baffled and clueless as to how to remove them... when your sign gets old and dusty.. put a new one right on top of it!
So far I have 9 out of 12 signs that have not been removed!
Use long nails with large heads
the signs will be harder to take down
Nothing stands up to a
Nothing stands up to a sturdy hatchet. The problem is that the coroplast material itself is very weak and is easily torn.
Sharky Stick lol
These people need to get a life. They have illustrated instructions on how to make diffrent varieties of "Sharky Sticks" to pull down signs out of reach.
"The "Sharky Stick" is the all-purpose tool used to reach up and grab signs nailed to utility poles. One good whack from behind, as close to the nails as possible, does the trick. The bolt is used to pierce and grab on to the sign."
select old wooden poles
so they will get falling debris in their eyes :)
A long threaded water pipe
A long threaded water pipe with a T on the end works very well to knock down the tall signs. Or a tree trimmer pole with a saw. But yes, the higher, the better. Just be careful not to fall. Your safety is actually more important. :)
For Every Sign Taken Down -- Put two more up
If they take 3 out of your yard, put up 4 tomorrow.
If they come on my property....
They will be lucky to get one of em...this i can assure you!
I'm a huge Ron Paul fan but
I'm a huge Ron Paul fan but I was also a CAUSS member for a while until I got tired of it and found something better to do with my life. They've been around for a long time. The basic idea is to keep our local communities looking nice. They also pick up regular roadside litter. Basically, don't post Ron Paul signs where it is illegal if you want them to stay alive for more than a day or two. You'll get more bang for your buck if you can find a way to babysit the highway signs or hold them in your hands and move them to attract attention.
Causs member? What do you
Causs member? What do you know about this?

I don't know much about this group but I have been looking into it.
Nothing. I got the sickness
Nothing. I got the sickness a couple years ago and went around pulling spam signs for a couple weeks. I then realized it was pointless and stupid and quit doing it. But it was fun while it lasted. Sign posters are very creative in how they attach them to various objects.
It seems that they have MANY
It seems that they have MANY enemies.
Be angry, but look...
Their entire site is dedicated to this kind of thing. A bit silly, I know, they could be putting their efforts to stopping world hunger or some-such, but instead they take on that evil of all evils, "street spam".
Our site is dedicated to getting the message of Dr. Paul out in any way possible, many times that involves committing the deeds which they firmly believe are threat to society and what-have-you.
As such, it is to be expected that they will butt heads with us sooner or later on our use of posters in publicly-viewable areas. They aren't fighting the revolution, they're fighting one of the means we have chosen to spread it. They've been fighting it since before we were doing this, and will probably keep going after Dr. Paul is elected. That is their perspective and what they choose to do with their lives.
Unfortunate that we do not agree, but just keep doing what you do and put up more signs!
these things are popping up everywhere
"Tore down 5 more... Christ these things are popping up everywhere. Fortunately they come down real easy. It looks like they take a lot of time making them and putting them up. So they are just wasting their own time doing this. They put them up, I take them down the next day. "
Putting them up is half our fun! ;-) Nothing to worry about here, we'll just put more up, and more up, and more up. Amazing what a few friends can do on a weekend road trip. Don't underestimate the power of our volunteers, we're aware of the risks putting banners and signs up. Sometimes they get removed, and sometimes people will enjoy sabotaging our efforts. That's OK. We'll make more.
Seems like he's never been to a Ron Paul meetup group meeting when we're making these signs. "it looks like they take a lot of time", more time putting them up actually... but that's part of the fun -- a challenge to find spots that they are not easily removable from, like underneath an interstate overpass out of reach of casual removers (use a ladder, late at night when there is no traffic or witnesses).
It take a total of about 10 minutes to make each sign after we've made the stencils. Lots of videos on YouTube on how to make these signs and banners. Making the stencils is the hardest part, and we have multiple stencils for doing many banners at the same time.
Easy as cutting the Tyvek from the roll to the right size banner, and spray painted the lettering. Another minute or so and we have all the grommets attached and a beautiful new sign is ready to dry. With only three people, we can crank out at least 6 signs an hour, or 24 signs in a solid 4 hour work session. Not bad for three people. Now get another few groups making signs, all at the same time, all in the same place, and we have potentially hundreds of signs and banners made in an afternoon.
MY SIGHN WAS TORN DOWN...I
MY SIGHN WAS TORN DOWN...I WAS SO PISSED AND THE FACT THAT THEY ARE SUCH COWARDS AND HIDE IN THE DARK AND DO IT.....SO LAME ....IF ONLY I COULD CATCH ONE IN THE ACT.....THEY WOULD REGRET TEARING THE SIGHN DOWN FOR SURE
Someone stole one of the 3 Ron Paul signs in our front yard
I just so happened to see some brake lights thru the blind and saw them stick it in the back seat... I ran outta the house and jumped in the car and went after em but they got away....... I was so pissed
I hope it was another Ron Paul supporter who needed a sign and saw we had three... no such luck eh?
lol
Sign stealer : Thou shall not steal Ron Paul yard signs! Ask.
Either he's a huge supporter low on funds and decided to take one of yours (why didn't he take all three if he didn't want you to display the signs?) or he's already poked himself in the eye trying to get away. Karma's a bitch.
I'm sure if he had just asked for one you'd have given it to him. Some people.
They would have taken all 3 if they hated the message
If they only took one sign, it was because they wanted to show it. The net effect would actually be positive. I can understand your frustration at losing one of three on your yard, but please don't be risking your life driving fast in a car to stop people from borrowing a sign when it was clear that they would have taken all 3 if they wanted to stop your message.
warning
boro electric looked as if they were canvasing the town by me, im not positive but i believe its a antigrassroots smear from the establishment at large.
just doing jobs
oh and we set up a camera with motion detection software
in case they came back for the big boy sign the big blue one
of course it doesnt fit well in a car and the snow has it packed in nicely now so it would be a chore
Common
This is no big deal, happens everywhere..Some times people do it for politics and sometimes kids just do it for fun..hell, kids even steal highway exit signs and stop signs to decorate their rooms
We should wait for them to show up! and scare them! haha
RP08-
Makes me wanna..
Put a "shit ton" of signs up everywhere!
The benefits of putting a sign on a freeway overpass WAY outweigh the risks.
Do you know how many people see that sign in just a couple of hours?

My hometown is COVERED in
My hometown is COVERED in Ron paul signs, but the fact that the one I put in front of my building was torn down and thrown in MY trash can, makes me want to go to the campaign office, get as many signs as they'll give me, and hang them all up everywhere.
there are still towns that don't have signs yet, I'm sure.
Rich in NH
It's true that unless you
It's true that unless you post your sign on your own property, you are probably breaking the law. I guess the majority of sign posters believe the rewards outweigh the risks.
maybe the law is unconstitutional.
ron paul 2008
Hmm... I really doubt it.
Hmm... I really doubt it. You are essentially defacing public or private property. There's no support for that in the law. You could argue free speech, but I don't think there's an allowance for free speech to trump private property rights.
my tax dollars paid for that public property.
you shouldnt so easily commingle public and private property in an argument.
ron paul 2008
Your money that goes toward
Your money that goes toward maintaining public property does not give you or any other political party the right to litter or deface that property. If more public property was private (parks, for example) I'm sure you'd see even more "legal" advertising and politicking. Not that I'm against it, that's just a reflection of reality.
Wtf?
A group dedicated to tearing down signs?? FFS, I wish I had nothing better to worry and complain about. lol
Live Free Or Die; Death Is Not The Worst of Evils.
I hope he re-cycles those
thats such a waste and it defeats the purpose of keeping the planet looking beautiful if they are just throwing it out. It will just end up in a landfill if he didnt recycle. give it back to us!
Like Putting Out A Forest Fire With A Cup Of Water… ROFL
"It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." Samuel Adams
CAUSS Wow!! never heard of them.
not many people have, after looking at their discussion board.
I wonder if the sign were for a missing child, would they tear that down too?
Probably depends on if it was a cute kid or not.
Citizens Against Ugly Street Spam.
ask for permission
place in highly public areas. small buisness is big and big space for support and asking is best so ask some one nicely and offer lituratere about Dr. Paul and then let the people keep it continue.
double post. sry.
double post. sry.
seems like this is a weird
seems like this is a weird group of citizen vigilantes who go around ripping down stuff that's been posted in public places everywhere.
my question, though, if you are posting a sign on let's say the pole of a traffic light or on a public easement, theoretically as public property does ripping a sign off there constitute a violation of the right to one's freedom of speech?
