I was initially very skeptical about the blimp project, thinking it a grandiose, pie-in-the-sky :), impractical venture that would divert attention and money from more mundane but powerful campaigning methods. And I still think that $500,000 would have bought a whole lot more effective if less dramatic publicity if spent on, say, highway billboards or local newspaper and radio ads. Nevertheless, I admired Trevor's audacity and creativity and donated to the project--oops, bought "time"-- and the blimp actually got up. And we got a lot of positive publicity. After all, the press loves novelty--they don't call the news "news" and not "olds" for nothing. But day-old news isn't---and now we're threatened with more $$ worth of bad publicity than we got in good if the blimp doesn't stay up. Sigh.

Yes-- the blimp project made a lot of mistakes in their rush to get it done in record time. They apparently underestimated costs, overestimated their ability to raise money, messed up on providing conduits for donors to donate, and, perhaps, most seriously, grossly underestimated the effects Mother Winter Weather would have on squashing the blimps ability to fly in the northern states. And a blimp that sits on the ground is worthless.

But Trevor now posts that the blimp is going South, and planning to fly over major southern population centers and sporting events (bowl games?), and they seem to have fixed or at least improved their donation portals--so they've learned from their mistakes.

And now I, converted skeptic, would really like to the see the blimp IN THE AIR as many hours as possible, flying east-west over the southern tier of states, giving reporters lifts and getting press coverage in Sunbelt states and at Bowl games and anywhere else they can fly it--at least through the March primary in Texas....so I'm donating again, and I hope you will too. Let's keep the blimp up! (And then get away from our keyboards and get our darn boots on the ground---in all 50 states!)

They or a similar organization obviously pumped up the fake pledges and now they will swoop in on their prey.

I've been working on a guy at work who decided to at least vote for Ron Paul, then he saw him on Glenn Beck and said no way. He called him an a------. I couldn't believe it. He said he was really timid. Anyway 2 days later he comes up to me and says he'll vote for him again because he saw him on CNN and seemed completely different. Fiery. So don't know if he was on CNN because of the money bomb or the blimp or something else but I'm glad there was more exposure. Let's keep the blimp flying. One more way of getting exposure. And, hate to disappoint Trevor as he was instrumental in promoting the first money bomb which lead to the 2nd moneybomb. If we can do 1.5 million by the end of the month, how about redirecting 85,000 to keep the blimp going through the primaries?

Afraid that's all I can handle right now. Still needs about $85,000 by midnight tonite. Maybe if it's really close they'll be confident enough he makes it and keep it flying. Though other things are needed, too, this is still a great thing. Even with the money bomb, the news moves on to other things. All any other candidate needs is an endorsement from anybody to be on television for a half hour. I talked to a pharmacist today. She was talking about Ted Kennedy's healthcare proposal - which I know nothing about. I asked her and she had never heard of Ron Paul. Her daughter is voting age this year and is very excited about the process. She said she will look him up on the Internet and of course I told her Ron Paul is the biggest on the Internet and about the recent record he set. She is interested in this idea that a medical doctor aware of how the medical industry is so messed up could be president. Anyway, the idea that people have not even heard of Ron Paul from the meaningless media says to me the blimp is really important. This person even has Internet access and a daughter interested in the election -- AMAZING!! The media blackout must be sooooo effective.

I gave many ideas on how to get the word out on ron paul considering i own a nationwide marketing company i know how to attract attention and get results and all my ideas were shot down, but you don't hear me complaining do you? NO i funded everything myself and i have sent over 400,000 pieces of direct mail in NH and IA without anyones help because no one supported it. Do the math on what it cost. I am working on getting mail now in SC and NV AT MY OWN EXPENSE AGAIN.

I don't want any credit and i won't complain that no one donated to it.

Louisiana district 2 was *wiped* out by Katrina and the 7 delegates *can't* afford their delegate fees. The campaign said, "We can't promise anything". One delegate is elderly, blind and poor. This is *serious*. These are people living in FEMA trailers.

I think Ed put up the chip in here and all he got was responses criticizing the chip in.

The delegate applications and fees are due back January 10th.

1. The official campaign has more money than they planned to spend this quarter, way more!!

2. I have yet to see one good advertising effort from the official campaign! Their greatest effort is recruiting the Iowa campaign manager. The next claim to fame is that they are "official".

3. There are 7-8 grassroot efforts which are doing great work in getting the message out there. They have proven their worth, their resolve and their honesty.The banners are on this website.

4. These grassroot efforts are struggling for money!

5. In total, all of them do not need more than $500,000!

6. Please let's have a 'grassroot feed' day or something. This will be a shot in the arm of all these patriots. And, by the way it also will be 'different' and will get the media attention. I wish I could make a website!!!

I've just donated for the second time using a VISA card on Google CheckOut. It was fast and easy and the system is working fine.

My view is, that the next money bomb, on Dec 31st, should go the blimp and fund all ongoing grassroots projects first, and only then give to the campaign.

I think we can do it. It's after the Dec 21st deadline, but really, the blimp got off the ground quite late, and it could just sit tight between Christmas and New Year's and no one would really notice.

I don't think people are going to be able to do more than 10 K/day for the blimp through the usual mechanism.

So instead of going for 20 Mil, we should go for
1) Fund the blimp
2) Fund all the grassroots
3) Get the campaign above 19 Mil.

I agree with these people. Trevors ass is on the line now because of fake pledges that were not honorably given. WAKE UP PEOPLE! We are talking about the man who got Ron Paul the mega millions we raised! Not once but twice! He covered your asses with his courage and creativity to get your man up way high on the running list. Why would you desert him now and not give something in return? Its not about whether you like the idea or not. It's principle for God's sake!

I am an avid Ron Paul supporter I have given well beyond my means on ALL events in the past months and I am sick and tired of any of you who want to tear down the Blimp project. The money I have donated to the Blimp has come back 10 times in media coverage. So STF up and go knock doors if that is your thing. I am on the west coast; my proxy on the east cost is that beautiful Blimp.

Come on everyone, we got infiltrated and deceived by Trolls who made false pledges. They messed with our pledge numbers and we need to fix this by giving more money. It is simply asking those who pledged initially before they re-worked the page to take actual donations. Trevor made commitments based on those inital pledges and needs those who made that promise to come through. Can you imagine picking up your local paper and seeing "Ron paul campaign fizzles! Blimp a failure!"
