Should the campaign keep the $500?
The Daily Buzz morning show has a poll on if Ron Paul should keep the $500 from the supremist. The poll is on the bottom right:

Ok
Here is the senerio.
You own an resurant, now through out your day you have thousands of customers. At the end of the day you find out who your customers are. Some are military, cops, some are church goers, some are family, and friends, and one is a white supremist. After they all paid for their meal, who would you return there money too? Now my money to Dr. Paul is not a donation, it a paid service for being my vioce.
Me, I'de give the military a complimentary meal. How about you?
"The $500.00" Integrity + Honor + Reason = Ron Paul
One man's opinion: Absolutely Keep It! This man Dr. Ron Paul is incredible!
I'm driving home from work, and Medved is addressing the Ron Paul $500.00. he goes on and on about how the right thing would be for Ron Paul to return it. He attacks Ron Paul for keeping it adnauseum.
The news registers and all of a sudden for me it feels like the bottom of the ninth, two outs, batter has taken two called curve ball strikes (umpire is MSM) no balls, the score is 1984 to 1776 , Ron is at the plate, the next pitch is right down the middle 109 mph, and yeah! --he hits the ball so hard that it ignites leaving the park for a grand slam home run and that feat ignites the rest of his team (you) and you keep hitting, rallying until the final score is Liberty 2008 to Tyranny 1984. (The rules, sort of like the electoral college gave the winning team an additional 24 runs).
Can you imagine what our country would be like in 1 year if even 1% of our so called elected representatives (they have been sent Wakeup calls) found the integrity, courage, and intellect and zest for liberty and freedom, prosperity, and peace that this "Man for All Season" Dr. Ron Paul has, and continues to concretely project and define so bravely, resolutely, succinctly, and logically. I can imagine it! I shall not waver in my support for this man, he has with reason, courage, and integrity awakened me, shocked me out of my cynical pessimistic political world of disgust where I have spent so many years among sheep not doing anything more than weakly bleating and whining in protest as freedom, liberty, individualism, and The Constitution, and the future of my children and theirs has been blatantly and or esoterically (whatever it takes -right?) and systematically weakened, purloined, and then arrogantly trampled upon. Six months ago this man somehow through tenacity and brilliance finds a way to reach me and I dare to act, then I look around and lo and behold there are thousands who have also stepped forward, then hundreds of thousands more awaken and find in his strength and leadership the courage to stand up and say the subjection and suppression of our natural born rights must be restored and we will never again allow such to be trampled upon. He unequivocally says our Constitution is the greatest document ever fought for, formed and enacted by a liberty loving people in the evolution of freedom and liberty and "common sense" --and he has done it for years, and has not backed down. I for one say I am bursting with pride just knowing that I have lived long enough to see this man, and those of you who support him as you do. I thank you all! Go Ron! Stay Strong. Keep The $500.00 I'll match it the next time Trevor lights a fuse.
Ron Paul is not a fascist, a racist, a tyrant -neither am I.
of course he should keep it
Better the rEVOLution spend that $500 than it be spent spreading more of Stormfront's psychotic ideals.

Keep It
That way the damn fool has $500 less to spend on his agenda.
THere is apparently a picture
Of RP and This Don Black Character, taken at the value voters debate - a typical photo - op thing, easily explained, but it will be a pain in the A$$
Dr. Paul has spent it.
What's the issue?
Money doesn't grow on trees
I'd pay the bills with it.

Absolutely
That $500 is spent. I don't want Dr. Paul to give that guy one penny of my money!!!
yes and spend it for good things like getten Dr Paul elected
I would never give it back it's not illegal to accept the donations he didn't ask for it it was donated its not something illegal Like what norman shue did a criminal on the run raising millions and taking photos with presidential cannidates
As far as I know, there have
As far as I know, there have been no African-American organizations who have come out and said anything about this. Sounds like a bunch of 'white guilt' being spilled by the media. It's all noise.
I agree with Ron, Keep It
Mr. Black did an interview where he said he does not know Dr. Paul personally and knows that Dr. Paul is NOT a white supremacist. He stated he supports Dr. Paul's small government, immigration and Foreign policies.
Now the letter that Bill White wrote, that totally confuses me. I also wish that Mr. Gray in Utah had not shown support, even after posting he wanted the group to endorse Mitt Romney.
Should Government keep
Should Government keep contributions (taxes) from White Supremacists? If not, should people that received that money such as for welfare, disability, unemployment, etc give it back?
"Should Government keep
"Should Government keep contributions (taxes) from White Supremacists? If not, should people that received that money such as for welfare, disability, unemployment, etc give it back?"
I'd love to see Ron toss that back into Russert's foxhole.
I agree with Ron's comment
I agree with Ron's comment that screening every donor is an impossibility, and that "returning" money would be purely symbolic pandering. I really enjoyed Ron ripping Neil Cavuto a new one over this.
The only ideal intrinsic to money
is Capitalism.
Keep it. Spend it on anti-racism commercials.

OUTSTANDING ANSWERE
From the Good Doctor. Knocked it out of the park.
A good example of individual liberty and property
Dr. Paul has said he defends our liberties, although he does not necessarily agree with everyone's choices. Rule of law means if you did not break a law, you're a free citizen. If accused of breaking a law, you're innocent 'til proven guilty. Free society has no 'thought police.' So, if a donor gives $$ to the campaign, and has broken no law, then he is a free citizen, and there is no crime.
Is the donor being accused of commiting some crime? If so, the news reporter should say so. But, the first amendment to free speech and free religion is really, probably, 'freedom to think'. Thinking, believing, is not a crime.
We can use this as an excellent example of rule of law. Agree? Did I say this right? I'm new at this stuff.
Not only that..
Not only should he keep it, but he should not even respond to suggestions that he give it back, and neither should we.
I mean, if he has to do that, what about Hillary returning all HER illegal donations from aliens and Chinese nationals, and the racist group LaRAZA?
At least this donation was not illegal. Thank goodness he stood up to them on this.
Keep it
Unless RP wrote a check out of his personal checking account, he should keep it. Taking $500 now out of the campaign funds would be using other donors money who contributed specifically to the campaign.
Has anyone read the news story of how the RP campaign discovered multicharges on a credit card in the amount of $3K. Note that the campaign discovered this and they promptly refunded it..However, the newsmedia HID the story in the back pages. I guess they didn't want to see RP get an integrity bump for his honesty.

I like the idea of using the mone for an anti racism commerical!
!
The Fact That It Was Given is the Problem
The political damage from something like this is not in what you do with the money. It's in the fact that a white supremicist liked you enough to send you $500. The negative is that the media tries to paint any candidate who is supported by unsavory characters as guilty by association.
I think Dr. Paul has explained himself well on why he won't return the money. Why give money back to a racist so that they can use it in promoting racism, when it can be put to a good use with the campaign?
He has stated publically that he won't give it back, and there is no sense in flip flopping now. Plus I think giving the money back to that guy would be the wrong thing to do.
Does it matter?
I don't think it matters what we think, Dr. Paul is going to do what he believes is right. He's not being drastic, but neither is he letting pressure compromise his decisions. Keeping the money despite media pressure is a representation that he won't sacrifice either his positions or honor once he is elected.
It only makes me respect him more.
It only matters..
If you think that the government or the law should be able to outlaw a person's thoughts and opinions. I would HOPE that is not what you think!
As long as this guy hasn't done anything illegal, or violent, etc, WHO ARE WE TO cast a stone? Does everything you think pass the purity test?
Of Course!
Of course the campaign should keep the money. Stop and think for a moment.
1. How did the media find out who this guy is? I never heard of him. Dr. Paul never heard of him. Is this a set up, either by the media, or one of the other candidates?
2. Is there any way for a campaign of this magnitude to screen donors to determine whether or not to accept money from them?
3. I wonder if this is really taxpayers money. It seems that most of the hate groups are led by some whacko on the government payroll. Maybe the question we should be asking is, is this guy a "federal informant"?
4. Considering the money and free publicity the other candidates are getting from members of the Council on Foreign Relations, which much more dangerous to our nation than this Stotmfront group, should the other candidates give those donations back?
The message of Ron Paul appeals to all kinds of people, because we all crave freedom. Ron Paul's message brings people together. It is the other candidates who divide people.
If this guy is dumb enough to donate $500 to a candidate who is obviously working in opposition to the goals of the Stormfront group, that's his problem. But I suspect that there is more to it than that. I think that someone put him up to it. Either someone in the media, another candidate, or one of our public servants.
Keep It!
The IRS (Government) takes money from this guy. Does that mean that all Americans are racist? This is dumb. Having that money out of the hands of a racist is a good thing.
Roger Hermann

who told the media about the 500 dollars
my question is WHO? any insider of the campaign or the donor himself? that told the media about the $500 donation
if it was someone from the campaign, that person should be removed immediately, why do we need to pay her/his salary if this person is a viper inside the campaign. let that person go and make her/him report who the donors are for hitler-y and julie-annie.
anyone agrees?
obviously this person doesn't really know what Ron Paul stands for?
stop the plants NOW!!!!!!!!! KICK THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, keep it, but how
about another contribution my family saw come through on Sunday, Tea Party Day. We were all (seven of us) watching the Ron Paul campaign site with the exciting steady increase in the money ticker numbers, and we were also watching the recent donors and rattling them off to each other. Then we were all shocked because the name we saw come up on the recent donor list was HILLARY CLINTON from New York, New York. Did anyone else see it? With all that she or her name stands for, do you think the Ron Paul campaign should return the money? (just kidding of course). Can someone find who this Hillary Clinton is?

WorldNetDaily Poll on the Contribution
www.worldnetdaily.com has a poll on whether or not such contributions should be kept. Just scroll down the page to the poll.
Here is a good article on the subject, too:
http://weblogs.baltimores...
This is a great article
and fair, too. I like to think that most Americans can understand what a non-issue this one donation is.
I voted
For "Yes, less for them to use for mischief" option, but I'm in the minority at between 4 & 5%. As usual.

Keep it ... Absolutely!
Sorry about double post.
Keep it ... Absolutely!
I think Dr. Paul is absolutely correct in refusing to give back the money. His stance is a refreshing change from all other cowardly politicians who can't take a principled stance on such issues. Dr. Paul clearly doesn't endorse Don Black's views and is only going to put that money to a much better use. If you haven't yet seen his reply to Cavuto on this issue, please do so. He just pummeled the question.
Any time..
Any time someone is handing out money, take it.
YES
OMGA this is just crazy... what about all the other crazy people in the world .. you are not gonna screen everyone.. ANd why arent they telling people where MR HUCK And clinton are getting their money.. huh.. cuz they want to bring ROn Down thats why... LETS MOVE ON.. and keep the money for goodness sake.. and be an example of love and embrace this guy and maybe he will turn from his wicked ways. IT is wrong what this guy stands for but atleast he is putting his money to better this country. And plus it was probably somebody in another campaign that paid him to do it, to try to blemish ROn Pauls name.

Keep the Money
The white supremist is like a lot of voters, HE IS ISSUE ORIENTED. That means that he will vote and support a politician who has similar views on certain issues that is important to him. The politician might have different reason as to why he believes his postion on an issue than the white supremist, but that isn't always relevant.
Ron Paul is against giving aid to Isreal. A white supremist hears that and likes Ron Paul. But the white supremist doesnt want to give aid to Isreal because he hates Jews. But Ron Paul doesnt want to give aid to Isreal because he disagrees with foreign aid in general and on principle. Ron Paul doesnt want to give foreign aid to ANYONE! Ron Paul is fair about it, and therefore not a racist.
Ron Paul is also against the welfare state. He is against it because it's expensive, slow, and ineffective. It's also against private private property right because it takes money (property) from the productive and gives it to the unproductive. A white supremist is against welfare because he only sees racial minorites on welfare and he doesnt want to help support them. Again, Ron Paul has to same position on an issue but for different reasons.
So Ron Paul is not a racist just because a racist supports him. Because Ron Paul's overall IDEOLOGY is different from the racist's. But everyone already know that!
So back to the original question. Should Ron Paul return the money. NO! Although Black is a racist, Ron Paul still believes he has freedom of speech just like everyone else. Denying Black's donation would be denying his freedom of speech and everything Ron Paul and the U.S. Constitution stands for. If you allow people to speak freely, then you will hear speech that you won't like from time to time. Thats apart of freedom for better or worse!
Cannot set a precedent! Also, our response "should be"...
Ron cannot afford to set a precedent here and let the media or anyone else dictate how "his" campaign is to be run and from "who" he (or anyone else) receives individual contributions. He is dead-on in his response that the "true evil" are those campaigns being funded by special interest groups.
So our response on all these blogs and articles should be, "Ron will give back or give away that $500 when all the other campaigns divest themselves of the MILLIONS received from special interest groups. Also, when all other candidates agree to fuel their campaigns SOLELY from individual grassroots support vs. government 'matching funds' programs to help bail them out of LACK of grassroots support."
$20
I gave Foxman and the ADL syndicate $20 to be a card carrying member.
I got the card and they never sent the 20 bucks back and I am not exactly someone they would want to be associated with.
Gee, where were the headlines?
Is this and the fascist flap is the worst thing about Dr. Paul that the Anti-Constitutionalists can dig up?
It all boils down to this, there are to groups of people in the United States;
PRO-Constitutionalist and ANTI-Constitutionalist
You just have to decide which group you want to be with.
I have decided that I love the my country and its related constitution.
To be sure.....you, me or anyone else do not have the option of setting sail to another land and starting over. There are no more continents to relocate to.
Dr. Paul is the answer and all the other canidates know this deep down.
Allright, I just came across another $100........time to donate!!!
I'm a youth pastor and I
would keep it. White supremecy is wrong of course but everyone has the right to free speech. No one can tell me what to believe or who to worship.
I am torn. As much as I
I am torn. As much as I like the fact that Paul is standing on principles and doesn't want to follow the pandering precedents of presidential fund raising, it would also be nice to see the story go away by giving it to the UNCF.
There's somethin' happenin' here...
If he wasn't a contender,
If he wasn't a contender, the story would have never surfaced. It's a good sign that things are shaking up a bit.

Yup
I think any candidate should keep any donation that comes from any individual American who earned the money legally.
Absolutely.
Keep it away from those racist pricks.
Absolutely not.
Rather Dr. Paul spend the money for good than giving it back and having it spent for evil.
