The Media: An Old Boys' Club

We have seen a lot of newcomers to Daily Paul in recent weeks, and there have been discussions in the past about the media and how they either ignore or misrepresent Ron Paul, his message and his campaign. Here's a little info which may be helpful to you.

First, the good news: Ron Paul has the major media in a snit. He was never supposed to do this well. He was never supposed to raise millions of dollars, become an internet phenomenon or attract millions of supporters. He was supposed to go away; fade out, the way Fred Thompson is fading out. But we have seen one miracle after another since the Ames, Iowa, event last June. Amazing things have happened to propel the campaign forward. Sometimes the media notices and writes favorably. But generally, it does not. This means the big daily papers, the TV news networks and all of the syndicates, such as AP, Gannett and UPI.

Is there a media conspiracy? Not exactly. What we have instead is the CFR, or Council on Foreign Relations. Since 1921, the CFR has steered U.S. policy, and has grown to 4,500 members. Although it calls itself a "think tank," the CFR is responsible for the U.S. involvement in the United Nations, NATO, the WTO, GATT, NAFDA, and the likely North American Union. One cannot underestimate its power or influence. David Rockefeller is still the head, though other people have been its president.

Virtually all of the other candidates are members: Romney, Giuliani, Thompson, Clinton (Bill and Hillary), Edwards, Obama (and Mrs. Obama), Joe Biden, Chris Dodd. Huckabee may be. Only Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel and Ron Paul are not members. You may remember the CNN YouTube debate where Ron Paul was asked about the CFR and the North American Union - and whether it was a conspiracy. Paul wisely replied that the CFR certainly existed and the conspiracy was one of "ideas." The ideas amount to a global agenda; a one-world government, the end of U.S. sovereignty and (for us) a union with Canada and Mexico. Ron Paul was right. The others probably shifted uneasily, as their private club was discussed by an outsider.

Having so many presidential candidates as CFR members would be odious enough, but top people in every major media organization are also CFR members. Rupert Murdoch, Chris Wallace, George Stephanopolous, Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters, Tom Brokaw... the list is a long one. Big guys, made guys. Think mafia and you'll be right.

So. While there is no obvious collusion among the media outlets to skew the news, they pretty much take care of "their own" - other CFR members. The best book on the subject is Shadows of Power by James Perloff. You can find it on Amazon and eBay. It is well worth reading, if only to see the kind of opposition we face as a sovereign republic.

But take heart. The Paul campaign has done astonishingly well. The media are, frankly, flummoxed. They don't know what to do except try to marginalize Ron Paul and his campaign. Meanwhile, new supporters join the RP legions every day and a tremendous upsurge of support continues to grow. This can only be good for us all.

AN APPEAL TO HEAVEN - WASHINGTON'S CRUISERS

Just a term

"Old Boys" club doesn't mean a real club. It means an exclusive association of long standing.
.

What is your source

On Chris Matthew being CFR? Charlie Rose is for sure. Chris Matthews pretty much endorses Ron Paul, as much as anyone working for NBC can. Also, I think only a few of the candidates are actually members, although most of the others do associate themselves with the CFR. From what I can find only Thompson and McCain are actual members. Bill Clinton is a member but not Hillary from what I could find. Although I don't know how current the publicly available information is on the membership. I don't think they take intellectual lightweights like Huckabee and G.W. Bush as members, although they did take Angelina Jolie.

You may be right about Chris

.
You are right. I couldn't find any source confirming Chris Matthews' affiliation. My error. The others are legit. I think!

The presidential candidates' affiliations can be found with a Google search. Or just type in Giuliani CFR.

Interestingly it was Chris Matthews who brought Huckabee's sudden rise to light when Huckabee got some CFR help. Still not sure if Mike is a member but he's flying with the big boys now and that helps him in many ways. Except for money and grass roots support.

But we have seen the CFR's influence in the past. Jimmy Carter came out of nowhere to win the 1976 election; same with Clinton in 1992. This is not good. Moreover, it strikes me that any CFR member should be prohibited from seeking elective office, since the goals of the CFR are at cross-purposes with U.S. sovereignty. But it will take a series of miracles for that to happen!

And yet. It might.

.

Thanks!

Always great explanations from the Zenpiper. :-)

Make no mistake about it -- doesn't matter your party affiliation but whether you are part of the 'club' like the Bushes and the Clintons. This 'club' includes the private foundations, (Ford, etc) prominent political figures, corporate bosses, (Gates) and the major print and television media which are all under control, to name a few.

Is Elizabeth Kucinich a member of CFR?

Economic Hit Man or Woman came to my mind after I read her profile.

In any case, I think that this is just the beginning and it will take more than eight years of Ron Paul in the White House. In fact, it would probably never end. I hope everyone is in for the long haul. I think that the mass has a short memory, but I hope that at least some of us are persistent. Like Ron Paul said, "It will continue regardless."

Remember this? He delivered. The rest is up to us.

GREED is BAD!

I don't think so

I haven't seen any evidence to indicate that. Have you?
Plus this following interview makes me doubt that she would even consider joining it:

Ron Paul is only the beginning

She can say whatever she wants, but I don't trust her.

I think many Ron Paul supporters would find this interview interesting. Pay attention to what kind of training he (Perkins) got as an economic hitman. Then, compare that to her bio.

BTW, Perkins' close friend Lynne Twist (the author of The Soul of Money) had a very close association with Mother Teresa.

Also, note that Angelina Jolie is a member of CFR.

Looking at these people and listening to what she said about education, I just can't trust her.

The Media

They derive huge ad revenues from Big Phama. Do you think they want to allow us freedom to choose less expensive drugs from Canada? Classic bottomline over doing what's best for the country. 'Course they'll never admit it.

Government is supposed to protect our freedom, our property, our privacy, not invade it. Ron Paul 2007

You are right

But there is, unfortunately, more to the story. Big Pharma has been in collusion with the FDA for a long time. And all this can be traced back to our national nemesis, the Rockefellers. Around 1901, Rockefeller noticed, that with the Bayer company and its wonder drug, Aspirin, that the world of pharmaceuticals could be profitable. Then two things happened: Rockefeller University was established in Manhattan to come up with new drugs and vast funding was provided to medical schools if they would change their focus from natural healing methods to drugs. This was the beginning of "allopathic" medicine and our pharmaceutical-based culture.

Long ago I did temp work at Rockefeller University and always hoped to see John D's head in a jar. I was sadly disappointed.
