Sara Palin VP

Another fine article about our governor.

http://www.adn.com/189/story/247044.html

"The populist Republican has raised taxes on the powerful oil industry. She has pushed through ethics legislation amid a burgeoning corruption investigation of Alaska lawmakers. She has bucked her party's old guard. And she has ordered her administration to seek fewer congressional earmarks after Alaska's "Bridge to Nowhere" became a national symbol of piggish pork-barrel spending.

The 43-year-old governor has also emerged as a national figure and a media darling, posing recently for Vogue magazine."

...On the same day a former Alaska lawmaker was convicted on federal bribery charges, Palin signed an ethics reform bill into law.

Since then, two more former lawmakers have been found guilty of bribery related to Veco Corp., an oil field contractor. Another former lawmaker awaits trial, and U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens and Rep. Don Young, both Republicans, are under investigation.

Palin's climb is being done without the backing of the state Republican Party, led by Randy Ruedrich. In 2004, as chairwoman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, Palin exposed Ruedrich for ethics violations when he was a fellow commissioner.

She has also made trouble for the party's establishment by calling on Stevens to give the public an explanation of why the feds have raided Stevens' Girdwood home in the investigation of his ties to Veco's founder.

"I don't sweat it at all that the partisanship isn't playing a big part of my agenda," Palin said. "What that tells me is this: that I'm on the right track, and that it hasn't stopped us.""

Palin is crap

true words

Paul supporter here

I just thought it would be interesting to point out that everyone here *loved* this woman. Until yesterday.

Still like Palin?

So ... what now. A person that a few dozen here *loved* is now on a ticket. A ticket where the presidential nominee is three years under the life expectancy for the American male, and his health has always been in question. A vote for McCain-Palin is in a tristed way a vote for Palin ... so yeah. How many people want to say they love her now. :p

This is the VP...

She is definitely the choice for VP...all the same views and all the support of liberty.

not that this should matter, but...

she's a real hottie. that never hurts!

Sarah

I had never heard of Sarah Palin until your post. I went over and looked at her 30 second commercials when she ran for Governor of Alaska. I think she should be on Ron Pauls' short list, at least. We have got a lot of good people to choose from.

I'd want to know what her

I'd want to know what her stance was on illegal immigration and amnesty before I could support her. I searched the net and could not find any info. If she strongly opposed illegal immigration and amnesty I'd probably support her.

Glad to hear

Glad to hear people discussing this, but she will never -- who says never anymore -- be a fourth party candidate. Is she cfr?

On several other threads

On several other threads about VP candidates, I have consistently touted Sarah Palin as a wonderful choice. She's smart, and an "outsider," in the same sense that Paul is, and she has the highest approval rating of any governor in the United States. She would be right there with Paul's philosophy every step of the way as a strict constitutionalist. She even holds Paul's family values, having her own solid family and no (as far as I know) skeletons in her closet. She would definitely be an asset, although I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at Napolitano, that's for sure.

Is Palin a Constitutionalist

The only question I have is, is Palin a strict Constitutionalist like Paul?

She drastically cut the Budget

using the line item veto.

In the "reason" column:
"not a state responsibility"

Hold them to their oath:
President
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

---Freedom begins with an act of defiance---

Alaskans are very happy with her.

She is honest and she can be very popular as a VP runningmate

Andrew Napolitano would

Andrew Napolitano would probably make a good Attorney General appointment...

Or....SUPREME COURT!!! I've

Or....SUPREME COURT!!!

I've thought of that, too.

I like both of those suggestions for the Judge

I'd love to see Michael Badnarik as VP, myself. Watch his videos on Google Video and tell me he doesn't have fire in his belly for liberty and the constitution.

Judge Andrew

Judge Andrew Napolitano...read his book "A Nation of Sheep" and then realize that he is the Senior Legal Analyst for FoxNews...for now at least. I'm sure his axing is in the works.

links

Do you have video links of her in action? You tube links? I would like to watch her and listen.

Fun Facts about Sarah Louise Heath Palin

She has four children: Bristol, Piper, Track, and Willow. On September 11, 2007, Palin's son Track joined the Army. Aged 18 at the time, he is the eldest of her four children and the only son. (Interesting names.)

Palin has been an athlete and a beauty queen. She was the point guard for the Wasilla High School Warriors when they won the state small school basketball championship in 1982. (Pretty and athletic.)

In 1984, Palin competed in the Miss Alaska contest after being chosen Miss Wasilla that year. In the Wasilla contest, she played the flute and also won the title of Miss Congeniality.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble

But when asked if she would go for a VP spot, she said there was still a lot of work to be done in Alaska. So that's a no. But I agree, she would be an asset to the ticket.

"Never forget that there was only one freedom on which this country was founded, and that was freedom from government."

"Never forget that there was only one freedom on which this country was founded, and that was freedom from government."

Yeah, but what's her view of

Yeah, but what's her view of liberty? All I've seen here is her concern about ethics violations and she raised taxes on oil companies. Where is she on the war and the US empire, on ridding the government of whole departments - including the IRS, of restoring our lost civil liberties, on freeing up the economy, on allowing competing currencies to keep the Fed in check? From what I've read here I wouldn't vote for her - nor for that freedom-hating, draft-loving Hagel.

The tax on oil companies...

is how Alaska gets the share that belongs to the Alaskan people. This is not really a tax. The oil companies get the lease from the state and part of the revenue goes back to the state in form of tax.

yeah she the best choice...

especially if hillary or obama win the democratic ticket...she symbolizes more change and will will win a lot of the hillary votes who want a woman president (as a reason for change)...and I love the fact she went after the big corporate and oil industry people.....

I'd love to see it.

Especially in a race against the Succubus.
Or Gary Johnson of NM even Mark Sandford of SC.
But a hot rebublican governer of AK stickin it to the man...
yeah, I like that.
Paul-Palin 2008!

She was endorsed as a

She was endorsed as a "vice-presidential candidate" by Michael Medved, which in my book disqualifies her for dog catcher, much less a vice president to RP.

Ron Paul got bad endorsements...

from some bad organizations/people, but he still has nothing to do with those people.

Of course you're absolutely

Of course you're absolutely right. My appologies.

I saw the words "raised" and

I saw the words "raised" and "taxes" next each other.

Sounds perfect

Perfect choice!

Especially to trounce Hillary in the general election.

Imagine what an honest lady would do to Hillary Clinton!

Ron Paul 2008!!

Great choice!

She is honest, smart, yung enough to finishe the work that Ron Paul will start and she has more than 90% aproval from alaskans.

lets pray that rp running mate is a man

ok?

the more the Ron Paul message multiplied and spread,
and the more alarmed the Establishment became."

oh please.

oh please do shut the F+$k up.
what kind of a ron paul supporter follows up a sexist remark by wearing religion on their sleeve?
who would do either and both?
grow up and open your eyes, sad fool.

Just want RP to be successful

Remember that the VP could become
pres in extremis.

We dont need a woman in the top spot.

Go further and repeal the 19th if you can.

No. Because I don't care.

Sex organs are just as irrelevant as skin color to the job of VP.

I want the best person for the job, which I think is Walter Williams even though Walter apparently disagrees with me. I'd be able to accept Sarah, too, but I couldn't possibly care less about her sex-organs any more than I care about Walter's skin. I pray that Dr. Paul makes this selection based on brains-only, and ignores the other BS.
JMR

It's politics, not brains when it comes to vp

I know who he is but 99.9% of the American people have a clue who WW is. Selecting Sarah as a veep would be a stroke of genius, an aknowledgment of the West. Walter might make a good Secy of Treasury.

I like Sara Palin... better

I like Sara Palin... better than that asshole Murkowski that was in there before.

Palin May Be the Best Choice

While I have always leaned toward Sanford or Hagel (and I think both of them should be cabinet members). Palin may be the best choice against Hillary for several reasons. First, she is a reformer that has fought corruption in Alaska government. After Iraq which Ron Paul will have huge support from both sides, Federal government corruption is a huge issue in the country. There is a belief that elected officials are on the take and a Paul/Palin ticket would galvanize good/honest government people from the center left to the hard right. (This alone might keep Ohio and Florida in the Paul/Palin column and therefore win the election). Remember, Hillary is viewed as being slick and as a “politician” she may be the first candidate in American history that starts the race with at least 45% of the population never willing to vote for her.

And now, I may come across a slightly sexist, Sarah Palin is young and good looking. The contrast with a 60+ Hillary Clinton will not go unnoticed.

Another benefit is that once Ron’s time in office is up we’d have (once again) a young, good looking and intelligent, candidate to finish the job that must be completed. Remember people much of Ron’s platform such as abolishing the income tax (reducing and substantially simplifying the tax code in 8 years yes), eliminating a majority of federal departments, etc. will not happen in 8 years. We need to figure on dismantling the federal government back to its legitimate and authorized functions as being a 25 to 30 year process.

Now having said all this I’d ask Ms Palin to read up on Austrian Economics ASAP. She may very well be our next VP and in 8 years our first female President.

Stromberg, California

Governor Palin

While it would be a shame to deprive Alaska of such a fine governor, Governor Sarah Palin obviously has "the right stuff" to be Ron Paul's choice for vice-president.
