New Ron Paul TV Ad: Trust - Reagan Republican or Gore Cheerleader

http://youtu.be/PXNqcYh0MpA

LAKE JACKSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign announced today the release of its latest advertisement, “Trust.” The sixty second spot emphasizes Paul’s longtime conservative credentials and early support of Ronald Reagan, while pointing out Rick Perry’s former chairmanship of Al Gore’s presidential campaign.

“Congressman Paul has an unparalleled record of championing true conservative principles,” said Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton. “Dr. Paul's ideas of limited Constitutional government, sound money and balanced budgets have won the day.”

“Other candidates are trying to parrot Dr. Paul's principles, but their records prove they cannot be trusted to live up to their rhetoric. Dr. Paul is the only candidate with the credibility and integrity to restore America now.”

The ad also notes the similarities between the candidacies of Paul and Reagan, with both being attacked by the political establishment as “too extreme” and questioning their electability. Reagan, like Paul, was dismissed by the establishment elites. Congressman Paul was one of only four Congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan against incumbent Gerald Ford and lead the Texas delegation for Reagan to the 1976 Republican National Convention.

The ad will appear in both broadcast and web format, with substantial air-time buys in New Hampshire and Iowa. The spot will also be sent to multiple conservative and TEA Party email lists and appear in banner ads across the internet.

Jesse Benton will be available for interview to discuss the ad and the contrast between Dr. Paul and Governor Perry's records.

I guess I'm not the kind of voter they design these things for.

Since I don't watch TV, and I actually research candidates, it would never cross my mind to vote for Rick Perry.

To pick only ONE black mark against him almost belies the vast number of other reasons he is unsuitable. I mean, he's just your average junk politician with a selfish agenda and nice hairdo.

Ron Paul is better than Ronald Reagan, and I am sick to death of Reagan being made into some kind of god.

I don't like when the Ron Paul campaign parrots the style and tendencies of other candidates. We're so much better than that.

Is this really a campaign ad?

I don't hear the "and I approve this message" at the end, and it's not on the campaign eweTube channel...

Well, I guess it is!

Greatness.

This will help win over conservatives, but...

Moderates and liberals and libertarians will not be favorably impressed. Reagan has gotten a lot of bad press for what he DID in office, regardless of what he said he was going to do. The ad, I feel, does not distance Ron Paul from the Reagan years (even though RP quit the Republican Party due to disillusionment with the actual policies of the Reagan Administration). Now, I'm afraid RP will be obligated to explain the ad or defend Reagan. Either will be a distraction.

Al Gore is still a rock-star to many liberals. We need the blue Republicans to win the primaries and the general election. This ad demonizes their hero.

I'm usually not very critical of RP's ads, but this one makes me uneasy. Could produce more harm than good.

Great for primary election, the immediate goal.

The platypus is clearly the current poll leader and becoming the media darling.

It is important to get the truth out now before he becomes the established "favorite". If he leads the polls for even a few weeks the next thing you know, the meme will be started that the Texas Cheerleader is "inevitable" and the primary decided for us by the media and big money special interests before a single vote is cast.

The RP campaign's best chance is for the field to remain fluid with the conventional candidates dividing the vote evenly.

Honestly, I don't think any

Honestly, I don't think any liberals who have thought long and hard about their values and are going against their party to vote for Ron are going to be swayed by this campaign ad. It's more likely to sway your typical Republican...whose opinion can be molded by a commercial. And...your typical Republican is more likely to vote in the primaries. I like the Blue Republican movement, but I really think a lot of them are just going to wait until the general to stick it to Obama.

You're right about the ones who have already decided

People who come to accept Ron Paul's candidacy do not switch allegiances because of some stupid ad. I'm talking more about the potential 'blue' Republicans who have not yet been persuaded to support RP.

Great Ad, Great Post..

I hope the campaign runs the bleep out of this in early primary states. Great strategy.

I'm hoping for a unorthodox strategy by Revolution PAC to tap into dissatisfied democratic voters. We could dominate the primaries with strong cross over support. If the commercial explained to tell liberals that strategically they should give themselves a insurance policy in case Obama loses then I don't see how we can't sell every reasonable liberal with that fact. Their obvious choice of course being RP for the primary. Furthermore if we can sell them on RP in the primary then there's no reason that person wouldn't vote him in the general as well. Is a infomercial by RevPac selling him to all demographics aired on regional tv a good idea?

Good Question

Why isn't this being played? Our friends over at Free Republic should see this. There is an ambivalence over there about Rick Perry but a hostility toward RP whom is increasingly referred to as a leftist.
