AP has a habit of writing sensational headlines (remember the 'party crashing' headline on the article about Ron's alternative forum in Iowa?) and then does not follow up.
I wrote to them numerous times to ask, since they wrote such a sensational headline that suggested Ron was crashing the ITR/ICA forum when he was in fact having his own forum, would it not seem of interest to them to then follow up on what actually happened that day when the event was held?
But the AP chose not to advertise that 1,200 people attended the forum next door for Ron Paul while the original forum only garnered 600 attendees.
No answer and not a peep from AP.
We will not forget this shoddy reporting.
PS - another news outlet said that Paul 'figured out' how to get hundreds there by offering them free food. This is ludicrous. At least on FOX, Luntz admitted he's never seen a candidate with more dedicated and numerous supporters than Ron Paul.
All of that coverage stemmed from the coverage by the AP reporter.
Who knows where this reporter first heard of us? It might have been at the Iowa straw poll, or on the 'net.
He did a bit of research, got a photo and couple of quotes (did all the work), and gave these publications something to print, or an idea for their own take on the story.
Make sure to follow the links. News is all about circulation, and we want their Ron Paul stories to always produce the most hits so they'll run more of them.
Local papers wanting local color will probably find the local Meetup and be checking us out, so don't say anything you don't want in print.
I think somebody slipped up at MSNBC, because I couldn't detect any veiled attacks in their story! It's almost pro-RP.
The sub-heading on the ABC story was amusing: "Partisan Disillusionment and the Internet Fuel Supporters of Ron Paul's Presidential Bid". They're saying that we like Ron Paul because we're tired of seeing Reps & Dems fighting. That looks to me like a variation on a widely circulated administration talking point that was used to deflect criticism of congress whenever genuine issues like corruption were raised. Just think of all the times you hear phrases like "We need to work together" and "The people want us to get things done." It's a magician's trick - show the audience one thing, while you're doing another thing in secret.
The reality is that we're all tired of these attempts at manipulation. We don't want politicians spending all their time thinking up new ways to dodge issues and avoid telling the truth. We want honesty, integrity and freedom. We want Ron Paul.
AP failure to cover..
