Personal Statement from Zak Carter, former organizer of the Rock The r3volution Tour.

I’d heard others talk about a Ron Paul concert tour, and in late August I decided to work to make it a reality. I spent a month and a half working seven days a week 16 to 18 hours with no pay assembling a nationwide team of volunteer regional coordinators, finding liberty artists that wanted to help support Ron Paul by donating their time and talent, and raising donations to fund the tour. While I was very successful at both putting together an amazing team and finding liberty artists, I was admittedly terrible at fund raising and only raised a little over $1,000 in donations. While the tour had promotional backing from Revolution PAC, we received not a penny from them. I was by far the largest financial contributor to the tour, I even sold my pickup truck and most of my guns to help get the tour off the ground.

In hindsight I would have done a few things differently. I would have stayed home for one, I became ineffective once I was unplugged most of the day on the road, even my cell phone service became an issue. I wasn’t able to communicate as I would have liked with my regional coordinators and supporters, and interview opportunities were lost.

The conversations I had with KRS-One and his wife Simone, I would have kept to myself had I known KRS-One’s history of cancelling shows, http://www.irishtimes.com/blogs/ontherecord/2010/09/09/krs-o... but I was still hoping he’d walk through the door even at the San Francisco show. It was KRS-One that made the Alex Jones interview I did happen, and I’m still scratching my head over his disappearing act.

I would have asked for more help with the website. Consise (of Rise, Consise, and Krookid) was our webmaster, and he simply didn’t have the time needed to devote to it. Some venues that were booked weren’t linked to the site at all and others took too long to get linked.

I still believe in a tour over individual shows without connections to each other, I believe that if it was done right it could generate amazing amounts of press that individual shows just couldn’t create. The tour just needed a reliable vehicle, the RV that I bought with my own money broke down before the first show, and the RV that Rise and Consise bought on their own broke down twice while on the road. That second breakdown was a nail in the tours coffin as I no longer had a way to get to the next show in Santa Monica from San Francisco.

I’m still trying to make my way home. I’ve heard that a few people have accused me of fraud, if so I’m not very good at it or I wouldn’t be hitchhiking right now, and you can find me along interstate 40 heading east. Those few who did donate to the tour through the Freedom and Prosperity PAC, I have every intention of repaying once I am able. Thank you to everyone who helped in so many ways.

I hope someone else takes up the cause of the tour, the Rock The r3volution Tour was never about me, it was all about freedom, and Ron Paul.

Viva la r3volution.

(and my apologies for taking so long to get this statement out, after putting so much of myself into the tour, I fell apart when the tour fell apart)

Huh. Honesty goes a long way (pun intended)

Howdy. I don't know you, never even heard of you but your words ring of honesty and humility. I really appreciate this post where you tell people some pitfalls to avoid.

And it certainly is a big risk. I was an officer in R3VOLUTION March and a million little things could have gone wrong and trashed an event that people gave generously to. And we had something you didn't: a large team of veteran activists who dedicated about 6 months of non-stop work to make it happen. Were mistakes made? Yes, by every single one of us but fortunately there was always someone to fill in and take up the slack. We also raised up a boatload of money from donations and this was just down to TIMING. It just came at a time when the movement was...frankly more interested in massing than other pursuits. But it's easy to imagine how the whole thing could have flopped.

I sure hope you don't have to end up working to resolve this situation. That doesn't seem right somehow.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

I am in communicado with JD Nero.

He is trying to work on a way to get to the Buffalo show. We should know in a few days.

The event is packed but we can get him on before the Vinnie Derosa funk band at around 3pm or so.

Glad you made it home. Tallahassee, that is? Surf, surf, surf on the east side... in the nice warm water ...

Shout out to Zak. Hope all is OK.

From PawnStorm in Seattle.

Did you make it back to FLA yet?

He's still

here in Austin.
We're having a good time.

I imagine he'll head East in a couple of days.

Thanks Jefferson...

Tell him hi from PawnStorm.

He'll remember me from the 1st Rock the Revolution event here in WA State.

one too.
Standing by for LZ coordinates.

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot. Over....8)

Give Zak a welcome trip around the states, then on stage

in Buffalo on Dec. 3.

It would be nice.

I am elated with this thread

You guys are all coming together as caring about your brother in freedom. I wish I could have helped but the last hitcher I picked a few days ago was going west.

I now have a new found faith in humanity, which reminds me, HVAC did you catch up with my friend walking across? Thank you all for extending an unselfish hand to Zak.It will not go unnoticed or forgotten.

This is an example of the fantastic medium called the DP! Way to go folks!

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

I got

a text from him earlier today.

He said he was in Amarillo and might have found a ride to Austin, and "could" see me tonight.
I text'ed back and told him to call me when/if he gets in town.

Haven't heard back yet.

please let us know...

we're all sitting around wondering what is needing to happen and what is going on. If you talk to him be sure to let him know that he's got backup in Ada..which is an hour from OKC and I can leave out at any moment. It's a warm place to stay and food in the belly..then we can go from there. Especially let ole Arkansas boy HVACTech know because he is planning on leaving towards Amarillo in the morning if need be.

Amarillo by mornin.

I could not resist.

Well hey....

if you happen to come this way, whether you find Zak or not, you are always welcome to stop by and hang out for the night. I will have to be back at the house by 7:30am or so to watch the kids but I could fix us breakfast if you don't mind a good ole Southern breakfast of ham/sausage/bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy. Everyone else is having their night tonight and they are enjoying it because of my back breaking labor from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm on a Saturday...I owe myself one!

BTW..I emailed Zak and told him to let us know something ASAP, to stay put if possible, and gave him my number. I will go to bed with my fingers crossed and the phone by my ear. :O)

Quick question...

where is home for Zak?

Pacific NW

(I think)

I get the feeling he's headed to FLA eventually.

Something cool happened the other night, when I posted my phone # for Zak. A guy called me out the blue and said, "this might sound strange, but I was on the DP, and saw that he was needing to get to FLA, and I'm leaving in a truck, from CA to FLA on the 2nd and I've got room."

I said "no, that doesn't sound strange. Ron Paul probably holds the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest family."

I thought that was pretty awesome.

RP is the only candidate where complete strangers can notice each other's bumper stickers,(or whatever) and carry on a conversation like old friends. Like being part of a secret society or something. I just wish the secret would get out to the rest of these knuckleheads......8)

he was dating cee cee back then. is what I heard.

and they got into a fight, over a bugman and an undersea asphalt volcano. probably just an embellished internets rumor. but you never know!
Amarillo by mornin?
let me know if you hear anything....

That is awesome!

So his goal is Florida then? I'm definitely not up to speed on this mission.

I was not sure..

how much I should say... is all.
yes, the panhandle.

Well...let's see where the chips fall tonight and make sure he gets there. I have to..wink wink...spend a week in New Orleans in the beginning of December because of a conference my wife has to attend. But that would be a full month of just hanging out in order to get part way there. However...if there is anyone in the New Orleans area that wouldn't mind helping me kill some time during my wifes days of misery..please let me know. My plan is to pretty much hit every dive and greasy cajun joint I can..and then pretend to be sober and sane when she's done. :O) I know at this mission I will truly fail, but it will be well worth it. Hoping I won't have to do it alone every day I'm there.

Zac, Last I heard is that you are in Amarillo. From what

I've been told is someone is coming to try and get you there. I have some friends in the Article VI Motorcycle Club (escorted Dr. Paul to the airport in Baton Rouge). I will try to get word to them and maybe we can at least get you to New Roads, LA. Here I can get you a shower and a good meal and then at least get you to Mississippi.

There are Article VI members in most every state. Hopefully this works. In the meantime if I can afford a ticket from Baton Rouge to Talahassee(?) I will purchase one for you.

I hope this helps Brother.

that would be me.

I am going to leave out in the morning and go get his hairy ass, one way or another. if someone is near OKC and could help get him there, that would be cool.
he can hang here for a few days. I will show him around Hot Springs and get him to you.

in Liberty

I am 20 miles north of OKC,

I am 20 miles north of OKC, let me know if I can help.

email Zak.

and at least tell him to stay in one place!
I will be in OKC tomorrow afternoon, best I can do.
if you can help please do!
I look forward to meeting you both!

That's what needs to happen...

He needs to let us know what is happening ASAP and then sit in one place. Like I said....if he is in a position to get a motel room just let me know and I'll cover it. I plan on being up for a few more hours, and before I go to bed I will email you my number so if something comes up I can be of assistance. Thank you RPrevolutionist for speaking up and getting in the action! We have all kinds of support around this area don't we! That makes me feel good. Hope to never need it...but it's good knowing it is there.

I'm not allowed on a motorcycle...

but I'm an hour away from OKC and I can leave the top off the 4runner! Just let me know what's up.
