Personal Statement from Zak Carter, former organizer of the Rock The r3volution Tour.

I’d heard others talk about a Ron Paul concert tour, and in late August I decided to work to make it a reality. I spent a month and a half working seven days a week 16 to 18 hours with no pay assembling a nationwide team of volunteer regional coordinators, finding liberty artists that wanted to help support Ron Paul by donating their time and talent, and raising donations to fund the tour. While I was very successful at both putting together an amazing team and finding liberty artists, I was admittedly terrible at fund raising and only raised a little over $1,000 in donations. While the tour had promotional backing from Revolution PAC, we received not a penny from them. I was by far the largest financial contributor to the tour, I even sold my pickup truck and most of my guns to help get the tour off the ground.

In hindsight I would have done a few things differently. I would have stayed home for one, I became ineffective once I was unplugged most of the day on the road, even my cell phone service became an issue. I wasn’t able to communicate as I would have liked with my regional coordinators and supporters, and interview opportunities were lost.

The conversations I had with KRS-One and his wife Simone, I would have kept to myself had I known KRS-One’s history of cancelling shows, http://www.irishtimes.com/blogs/ontherecord/2010/09/09/krs-o... but I was still hoping he’d walk through the door even at the San Francisco show. It was KRS-One that made the Alex Jones interview I did happen, and I’m still scratching my head over his disappearing act.

I would have asked for more help with the website. Consise (of Rise, Consise, and Krookid) was our webmaster, and he simply didn’t have the time needed to devote to it. Some venues that were booked weren’t linked to the site at all and others took too long to get linked.

I still believe in a tour over individual shows without connections to each other, I believe that if it was done right it could generate amazing amounts of press that individual shows just couldn’t create. The tour just needed a reliable vehicle, the RV that I bought with my own money broke down before the first show, and the RV that Rise and Consise bought on their own broke down twice while on the road. That second breakdown was a nail in the tours coffin as I no longer had a way to get to the next show in Santa Monica from San Francisco.

I’m still trying to make my way home. I’ve heard that a few people have accused me of fraud, if so I’m not very good at it or I wouldn’t be hitchhiking right now, and you can find me along interstate 40 heading east. Those few who did donate to the tour through the Freedom and Prosperity PAC, I have every intention of repaying once I am able. Thank you to everyone who helped in so many ways.

I hope someone else takes up the cause of the tour, the Rock The r3volution Tour was never about me, it was all about freedom, and Ron Paul.

Viva la r3volution.

(and my apologies for taking so long to get this statement out, after putting so much of myself into the tour, I fell apart when the tour fell apart)

up for some company?

we could come through Ada, on the way back to Hot Springs....
that would be cool. I have been wanting to visit with you anyhow.
are we having fun yet?

Sent you an e-mail. And one day

You, Dale and I are going to have to have a steak and maybe some gumbo together. First, Let's get Zac home.

I'm all for it...

I love gumbo and steaks..mmm mmm good! After December I am pretty much free and easy again. The wife and I entered into a personal contract to be debt free by the end of the year and it has absolutely killed us. Actually it made us a whole lot stronger because we learned that we could make it on a whole lot less than we had bleeding out. I can't believe how great our financial future looks when you finally break down and pay everything off. To bad I didn't know of Ron Paul and heed his warnings years earlier than we did...perhaps we would have never gotten into the mess we were in.

It's all over now....We're kind of like Merle Haggard.."If we make it through December...everything's gonna be alright I know...It's the coldest time of winter..and I shiver when I see the falling snow...." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-IJxTd8dCo

Believe it or not, you are my

inspiration. We also are trying to get there and we too, are sorry we didn't learn of Dr Paul sooner. You know what? As old as we may be, we will be the inspiration to a new generation. Maybe we learned a thing or two from the good doctor.

Jim

Not to be all teary eyed...

but you don't know how much that means to me. We kind of put our lives out here in public and let others judge us. Kind strange isn't it? I don't do facebook or any of that other stuff, but on here I feel comfortable discussing things that I wouldn't discuss with my neighbor. Sometimes I feel like I'm cruising down the wrong road..but then sometimes someone has a great thing to say, and it makes you feel more than allllll right.

I know that we will make a difference in the upcoming generation. We have made an ever small impact on some of the older folks and younger folks that we get to visit with around our small neck of the woods. It's a good thing. We need a generation of responsible freedom loving people to put this train back on the tracks. Glad to be part of it with people like yourself.

Semper Fi my brother.

When you look for GOOD, and protect your

back it is a very good thing. I, like you, sometimes let my hair down here on the Dp. Sometimes in a good way and sometimes not but, when the heart is in the right place, no one can object.

Whether we meet here or in the hereafter, we will know each other on sight. I do hope to meet you soon in the here. LoL!

I always try to look for the good in the individual. I am a pretty good judge of character whether in writing but more so in person. I can look someone in the eye and talk with them for just five minutes and know their soul. After so many years of looking at your writings I know you have a good soul. Peace Brother. All is good.

Thanks man..

we WILL make it happen. Take care.

You bet!

I spent all friggin day clearing a trail for the halloween hayride and now I'm hurting so bad I can't go to the party..haha I'm killing the pain with a visit to Evan Williams's house of bourbon and spirits.

I have a little party trailer down in the valley that we could hang in if you guys wanted to crash for the night. Perhaps a good campfire, steaks, drinks, and some good discussion?

EDIT: Anyone within driving distance is more than welcome to join us....We just butchered a longhorn steer and put 600 pounds of beef in the deep freeze..that just happens to be down at the trailer!

what! last I heard, it was full of chickens!

and, you installed the freezer without consulting me?
when I lived in Texas, I was told never to trust anyone north of the Red river..... they are called "sooners" for a reason....
I will pack an overnight bag in case Zak is up for it...
do you suppose I should have got his permission first?
I was going to pick him up in FT Smith, but he never made it out of Texas today.....
I hope to hear from him soon...er.

Heck no I didn't install anything..

This a high quality trailer..wink wink.not the egg mobile. And the freezer is a stanky old deep freeze that works like a charm. I don't think he will care much do you? I would offer to ride out with you but I need to do some cleaning up down there, as to not embarrass myself and our hillbilly cabin. My wife calls it the scary cabin...I say..damn it we moved out here and I lost my basement! It has heat, cold water, beds, stereo, lots of firewood, and a friggin deep freeze filled with beef..what else could you want? She doesn't understand the ways of man. That's good I suppose since I get to camp out there by myself anytime I wish to pass out and/or act ignorant.

Is there any way to get a hold of him? If he gets to OKC or anywhere that we know where he's at I'd be more than glad to get him a motel room or if he's close enough go ahead and leave out to get him. Me and Evan have only had one round and I can call it quits if need be. I won round one by the way.

I think communication,

is WiFi only, last I heard was at about 5 or so. I don't think he even knows I am coming yet.....
Amarillo to OKC, is a seriously lonely highway.
he might be in the middle of it....

It just makes me sick..

my neighbors son and family came in for the halloween bash last night and they came from Amarillo. They are good freedom loving people who would have gladly given him a ride, then you could have come and got him or I could have brought him to you. This is the first time I have seen this post. where is he from? Can we get him a bus ticket from your place to his?

BMWJIM's picture

I am working on that as we

speak. He might freeze his ass off on a bike or two/three/five but if we can get him to me I'll get him home.

As someone who is not afraid to stick his thumb out (I travelled all over the US in my 20's with no money in my pocket, and recently tried it again to get home from jail) this is for you Zak.

Buffalo Facebook Festival event page - I need help promoting.

Folks, we don't need money from anyone here to make this event very big and successful. I need help promoting this event. We have a month. That is a lot of time. If some people could give some grassroots help here and there ... There is no boots and the ground work needed, it is all from home help.

***

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=208632999206704

We need people to LIKE and comment this event on Facebook to get it "busy". When the press release goes out, they will visit here. More Busy, means hopefully getting Ron Paul's name in the media here.

***

I am advertising this as the "Premier Liberty Concert in the Northeast". Let's make it that. We have a terrific Liberty headlining act in Madeliene Haze. We have more bands coming. I would like a top band from Cleveland, if possible.

***

What is hurting me, I have fallen way back in my studies and I am in my last semester out of five straight. I am no spring chicken and this full time school, and with basic life, and dealing with helping my parents (90 and 87) with just about everything - I can't go on at this level. I have been pushing myself to the brink with all the events I have been running.

I have no time to promote, only get the bands and organize the event. This is turning out to be a big undertaking.

***

I need help promoting. I have contacts, threads, and asked to get a meetup listed for this event in various cities. However, I have no time to energize these folks to grab the bull by the horn. They need to be prodded on...

Here are the meetups:
Albany - http://www.meetup.com/Albany-Campaign-for-Liberty/messages/b...

Erie, Pa. - http://www.meetup.com/RonPaul2012ErieCounty/messages/boards/. Brandon did contact me today, so someone is interested.

Cleveland - http://www.meetup.com/RonPaul2012Cleveland/#suggested
No response from a city that has the RNR hall of fame. We need one more person to OK the meetup. I have it listed under Suggested Meetups. Can anyone wake this city up to particiapte? Maybe get us a killer Cleveland band.

Syracuse - http://www.meetup.com/RonPaulCNY/messages/boards/
Zero response from Syracuse.

Schuyler County - http://www.meetup.com/The-Schuyler-County-Ron-Paul-for-Presi...

Other Buffalo RP meetup - http://www.meetup.com/wnyforronpaul/
This is the big disappoint. They do not get involved in practically anything. If someone could motivate these people and get them off there butts and do something...

Ithaca, NY - http://www.meetup.com/Ithaca-Liberty/messages/boards/

Rochester - http://www.meetup.com/forliberty/
Need Rochester to promote in the media.

Monroe County - http://www.meetup.com/Monroe-County-Tea-Party-Coalition-for-...
Need to promote in Rochester

MOnroe/Ontario county - http://www.meetup.com/MonroeOntario-County-for-Ron-Paul/and Syracuse

We need action in:
Pittsburgh, northern and northeast PA,
More effort in Ohio
New York City
College campus's

All this effort gets the Ron Paul name out there.

***

Plan of attack:
Get all to post the event anywhere and social blast.
These cities need to have their media contacts assembled.
They will receive our press release in just over two weeks.
They forward the release to their contacts.
They try to get them to interview me and Madeliene Haze, at least.
Comment on our Facebook page.
Show up at the event.

***

Now there are Four events across the nation. If grassroots took this action in each region. We will get the most bang for the buck attention.

I am asking for help.

Zak, take that ride to warmth and get housed. And maybe, jump back on that horse and help get Buffalo setup. It's in your heart to do something because Liberty is addicting. And not doing anything sometimes gets the mind to think too much. It is better to get it working for a positive goal.

Forwarded your page to others!

Good luck for a great liberty festival.

Hang in there Zak - I'm very sorry to hear this.

About all I can say is welcome to the world of Rock and Roll!

Thanks for having us play the first show (in Seattle). It was an honor.

Having fronted my own band for years, I know the heartbreak which can happen in the music business. Especially when you put your heart and soul into something you believe in.

It's so tough to organize these events. And many promoters have gone bust trying to put tours together - not to mention the musicians too.

But to me, it's as much about the journey as the destination.

We had a great time in Spanaway trying to promote the cause of liberty and it was great to meet you. I could really tell the dedication you have for the cause.

I have good memories of the show and always will - small though it was.

Tell you what - As election time gets closer and more people start paying attention, the idea of a "Rock the Revolution Tour" might garner more interest.

It's possible that it's a little too early as most people aren't thinking politically yet.

So best of luck to you my friend, and all of us Ron Paul supporter truly appreciate your dedication to the cause of getting him elected.

Perhaps we'll meet again if Dr. Paul has another "Rally for the Republic" type of event.

Or if you try again later - please make sure to let me know.

Regards, Paul B and EverAfter (PawnStorm)

Heroes

That's a big undertaking, I

That's a big undertaking, I wouldn't even know where to begin on organizing that. Much respect...

Theres 4 gigs up and running, thats 4 more than nothing.

Let's try and sneak some time into promoting these events.

I am just learning facebook. Is there a section where links can be put up for the gigs?

You can..

Rock&Roll had to die

Oh my, oh my, you guys do not know that Rock&Roll had to die... Long time ago... These poor bands can only sing for the independence of Tibet, or so...
The situation is rather serious, please take it bravely as is, and with patience. Do not give up.

i hate to see people invest so much

And seemingly walk away with next to nothing. We still want to see the show realized in KC. Things are usually best to be organized on the local level. We just don't have the strong network of meetups we had. That was really our secret weapon.

Hi Zak..

Geez, dude, didn't even know about this, sorry it's coming apart, would have thrown some money your way.

My wife and I are expert marketeers, we'll throw in what we can for any future ventures (websites, e-mail campaigns, etc.)

We also have reserved a domain name, just to promote the doctor... PaulStock.org but haven't put it in motion yet. Would be a great music and peace jam event, but we're both slammed with other projects right now.

We don't accept any money for anything, all money goes directly to RonPaul2012.com if we can put something together with other RP supporters, that would be great.

Keep posting, let us know what you are up to. Take care bro.

Zak

I tried to call you.

Give me a call, and I will come get you. I'm less than 3 hours away. We'll get you set up with a warm place to stay, and transportation back home. I'd be honored to come get you. Please give me a call ASAP. I can be there before midnight.
