Personal Statement from Zak Carter, former organizer of the Rock The r3volution Tour.

I’d heard others talk about a Ron Paul concert tour, and in late August I decided to work to make it a reality. I spent a month and a half working seven days a week 16 to 18 hours with no pay assembling a nationwide team of volunteer regional coordinators, finding liberty artists that wanted to help support Ron Paul by donating their time and talent, and raising donations to fund the tour. While I was very successful at both putting together an amazing team and finding liberty artists, I was admittedly terrible at fund raising and only raised a little over $1,000 in donations. While the tour had promotional backing from Revolution PAC, we received not a penny from them. I was by far the largest financial contributor to the tour, I even sold my pickup truck and most of my guns to help get the tour off the ground.

In hindsight I would have done a few things differently. I would have stayed home for one, I became ineffective once I was unplugged most of the day on the road, even my cell phone service became an issue. I wasn’t able to communicate as I would have liked with my regional coordinators and supporters, and interview opportunities were lost.

The conversations I had with KRS-One and his wife Simone, I would have kept to myself had I known KRS-One’s history of cancelling shows, http://www.irishtimes.com/blogs/ontherecord/2010/09/09/krs-o... but I was still hoping he’d walk through the door even at the San Francisco show. It was KRS-One that made the Alex Jones interview I did happen, and I’m still scratching my head over his disappearing act.

I would have asked for more help with the website. Consise (of Rise, Consise, and Krookid) was our webmaster, and he simply didn’t have the time needed to devote to it. Some venues that were booked weren’t linked to the site at all and others took too long to get linked.

I still believe in a tour over individual shows without connections to each other, I believe that if it was done right it could generate amazing amounts of press that individual shows just couldn’t create. The tour just needed a reliable vehicle, the RV that I bought with my own money broke down before the first show, and the RV that Rise and Consise bought on their own broke down twice while on the road. That second breakdown was a nail in the tours coffin as I no longer had a way to get to the next show in Santa Monica from San Francisco.

I’m still trying to make my way home. I’ve heard that a few people have accused me of fraud, if so I’m not very good at it or I wouldn’t be hitchhiking right now, and you can find me along interstate 40 heading east. Those few who did donate to the tour through the Freedom and Prosperity PAC, I have every intention of repaying once I am able. Thank you to everyone who helped in so many ways.

I hope someone else takes up the cause of the tour, the Rock The r3volution Tour was never about me, it was all about freedom, and Ron Paul.

Viva la r3volution.

(and my apologies for taking so long to get this statement out, after putting so much of myself into the tour, I fell apart when the tour fell apart)

Can you go to chat area here on DP?

Kansas City is still rocking it out

Micah Horner is the one organizing it here in KC. I'm running the Ron Paul booth to hand out literature to the newbs and to sell merchandise to the fans to help cover the operating cost of the event.

Might not be the tour anymore but we will still Rock the Revolution!

We have had some good showings at gun shows with our Ron Paul booth. Hope to see some other individuals do the same. We plan on having a similiar set up at the Revolution fest but with video clips playing also. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/107020997094687265990/alb...

Rock on for Liberty!

Alright Rob glad to see.

I posted Buffalo's info on the RTR facebook page. Wej could keep that page going, it is still a communication avenue.

What about links to the other gigs that have info? I will put Kansas link up on our webpage to get some unity established.

Maybe everyone can tell the story of how you sold your truck and guns for campaigne money. I know I am. That says so much about you and your deep-seated love of Ron Paul. It's the self-sacrificing that also wins people over. You did more than you realize. I'm posting it on facebook minus your name.

Sounds like we need a Rock-This-Out Money bomb

if, by some chance, it is not completely too late.

Man, would that work.

We have Madeliene Haze volunteering to perform and driving from Philadelphia. We are going to ask for donations to raise some cash for their expenses.

Big thanks to all the bands volunteering their time to play. Local is volunteering, traveling over 6 hours is beyond the call of duty.

The R3volution will continue!

Hey Zak,

It was a pleasure to meet you in San Francisco. I and my posse had a great time discussing the Fed and other subjects with some open, and not so open-minded occupiers!

Kudos to you for doing what you have done so far, it has lit fires in the minds of others to do similar things.

Your dedication

went above and beyond - that's what makes us stand out =D

From the bottom of my heart, Thank-you for your efforts.

Now please, put your thumb down and let Cowboy get you home.

Maybe you can regroup from there, chin-up! =)

The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!

I'm

sorry things didn't work out as expected. I KNOW you poured your heart and soul into making the Rock the rEVOLution tour a success. Get home, get rested up, then maybe something positive will happen that enables other tours to still come to fruition. I see that one show is still on...

no way.

As one who attended the Portland show, talking with Zak for a while there, and then also met up with Rise and Consise two nights later in another event, plus hung with them and Krookid at the afterparty for that event, I can state with confidence that this was no scam. These guys were in it for all the right reasons and they were passionate about it.

Like the other poster said, haters gonna hate.

Good on ya, Zak, and all the others, for dreaming and doing something. Those of us who experienced it and will experience it at the upcoming shows know the truth. Thanks.

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

Hey Zak, I posted a thread on

Hey Zak, I posted a thread on the DP and Ron Paul Forums calling the tour a fraud, because of some information I was given, but found out most of the information I recieved was not true. Just to make it clear, I had no idea who you were until people started posting comments to my thread. I didn't in any way intend to make it appear that you yourself were trying to committ fraud by using Ron Paul supporters to take money for your own financial gains. I apologize if any of what I said made it sound like I was attacking you personally. I also apologize for posting the thread in the first place given the lack of information I had. I was upset at the time because I was told by some people that KRS One would be performing in SF at a free event for Ron Paul, which made me really excited being a KRS One fan. And then hearing he was not an actual part of the show upset me. I probably should have kept my words to myself at the time. Anyways, thanks for clearing up all the confusion with this thread. It sounds like you put in a lot of time and money to try making this tour happen, which shows you are a true friend of liberty and a very active supporter of Ron Paul. Sorry again man, and hopefully you just ignored my original thread about the tour. I hope all is well and that you make it home alright. Keep in touch with us all, and let the DP community know if you need anything.

Sorry to hear that Zak...

I haven't heard anybody accuse you of wrongdoing, if so, tell me who and I'll set them straight!

Thanks for your heroic efforts, regardless of the outcome.

'Cause there's a monster on the loose

The facebook page is where the hate is

Someone who had access to the Rock the Revolution facebook account posted on the account and basically threw Zak under the bus and said the tour was cancelled due to lack of funds.

He then went on to smear Zak & the revolution tour webpage for not being more reachable during the time of confusion in which bands were no-showing and called Zak out for continuing to advertise KRS when he had missed the first 5 or so shows.

Lots of angry comments on both sides. Basically not a pretty sight to see Ron Paul supporters in-fighting.

Anyway, that's where all the drama was last weekend and early this week. Haven't been back in a few days but it's probably calmed down a bit.

Anyway, thanks for your efforts Zak. You had a great idea it's unfortunate it didn't go down as planned. I had my $50 ready to donate at the Santa Monica show :(

please a link?

morons who have no real "facts" are the biggest idiots!! They need to be put in their place for their complete and total stupidity! THIS CONCERT SHOULD HAVE ROCKED THE NATION COAST TO COAST !! But the TROLLS AND MORONS who look for any excuse to hate good ideas, would rather spill their vile against exceptionally creative ideas and plans!!

If it wasn't for Zak,

we wouldn't be having our event on Dec. 3. It's still a go.
