9/5/2007 NH FOX Debate Comments
The GOP debate is tonight on Fox. Check local listings for the time. I will be traveling up to New Hampshire to join in the festivities and the LOUD Ron Paul support teams & rallies. It is a beautiful day in New England! Nothing but blue skies.
Feel free to post any comments and post-debate analysis below. Word is that Fred Thomson is going to declare today and will run commercials prior to the debate. Sue in Boston came up with this idea for a sign:
Sorry Fred
We already have a REAL CONSERVATIVE
His name is RON PAUL !!!!
Have a great day!

DR. PAUL HANDLED THE NEO CONS WITH TRUTH !!!!!
i have come to a conclusion that just as long as Ron Paul is included into the debates, that his honesty and candid positions on the issues asked have won him more support since the May debate.
We all know we couldn't vote twice and if I am correct the last debate on Fox, Dr. Paul got 23% of the vote and last night it was 33% showing a 10% gain in popularity in 3 months at this rate there is no doubt about Dr. Paul being in the top tier that to me is a certain.
For Huckabee to even make a quote about unity was a script written to him by the GOP party heads, Mr. Huckelberry 70% of the people are against the Iraq war Dr. Paul is unifying behind the people and not the NEO-CONS. wake UP !!!!!
Way to go Dr. Paul you wre GREAT again !!!!!!
It was the most BLATANT......
It was the most BLATANT attempt at attacking someone else's character I've ever seen in my life, especially considering the setting and circumstances.
The Fox moderators should have IMMEDIATELY stopped the debate and called out the offending goon.
But again, it keeps backfiring on these clowns.
Ron is becoming more popular due to these types of tactics, in addition to more people hearing Ron's views.
I think we all know who it was...
Ghouliani was the rude one. Let's see if he gets a free pass in the news media.
I wonder how highschools are treating this debate? "Uh, yes, Johnny, they're allowed to be rude and break the rules, you see, they want to be President of the United States!" It doesn't inspire tremendous respect, for either the rude candidate or the moderators who allowed the rudeness without consequence.

This is a rush transcript from "Hannity & Colmes," September 5, 2007. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.
SEAN HANNITY, CO-HOST: All right, it is time now for the final results from our text messaging poll.
And in first tonight, Ron Paul. He is having all those 3 percent of people call in, I'm sure. He got 33...
ALAN COLMES, CO-HOST: Maybe he just did very well.
HANNITY: He got 33 percent. Well, it happens. Anyway, in second place tonight, Mike Huckabee getting 18 percent. And taking the third spot is Rudy Giuliani getting 15 percent.
Now I want to give you a quick — oh, by the way, fourth place is John McCain with 14 percent and Mitt Romney with 12 percent tonight.
Here's some post-debate footage
.
Here are some clips of Fox/Hannity's treatment of Ron Paul after the debate:

Greta's preamble
Here we go again.
Moments prior to the debate this newschair mimicked Geo Stephanopoulos when - at the end of her half hour program - she brought up our candidate Ron Paul.
She volunteered he hasn't 'a leg of a chance'...but he brings up some interesting questions. What does she know?
Death before Dishonor
Mike Huckabee (who I actually "liked" before this debate) seemed to be referring to our military as the Samurai of Feudal Japan with his references to "death before dishonor" and "saving face." I was also reminded of the words of Spartan women when sending their husbands off to war, "Either return with your shield or on it." Is this what Huckabee is saying?! Have we become so egotistical and flippant with our men and women in uniform as to tell our own troops, "We care more about OUR honor than YOUR lives?!" If we are looking at military history, why not look at the Rule Book still taught in most military colleges and settings, the writings of Sun Tzu, "The Art of War":
"Invicibility is defense. Vincibility is attack. Defend and one has a surplus. Attack and one is insufficient."
"One who does not thoroughly know the harm from employing the military cannot thoroughly know the advantage from employing the military."
"There are roads one does not follow. There are armies one does not strike. There are cities one does not attack. There are grounds one does not contest. There are commands of the sovereign (president) one does not accept."
These writings are still taught at the War College, West Point, Annapolis and others, which is probably why so many generals have opposed Bush publicly. THEY KNOW BETTER! But obviously Fox and the other candidates need to do some additional reading. Sorry Ron, maybe another "recommended reading list" is needed for these militaristic morons.
You mean we shouldn't
Follow the other lemmings off a cliff?
And how did "under God" get into a debate on pre-emptive war, anyway? Seems like the opposite of what the Lord would have us doing in America.
JMR
No 2nd vote?
...and here I was going to email Fox complaining that they would irresponsibly allow people to vote multiple times in such an important poll when it's so easy to prevent it. After all, that's what Hannity said was happening, even Colmes got in on it.
Poll Results?
Is Fox News burying the poll results? I can't find them anywhere on the website or any mention of the results in the various stories. Has anyone heard if they've been dismissed as fraudulent or are they just burying it?
Find poll results
FZ1_Rider: Go to http.//ronpaul.typepad.com/my_weblo for the poll results. Ron Paul rules highest with 33 percent. HOORAY FOR RON!!!
Poll Results?
I did see the poll results live last night (even as Hannity sarcastically commented about it's accuracy as he recited Paul's figures) and I also saw that other website with the results. I'm more curious as to why they aren't displayed ANYWHERE on the Fox News website. They allow a lot of commentary, which both supported and dismissed Paul, but the poll isn't even hinted at as existing or ever being performed.

A GREAT night for Ron
People all the stupid little games they are playing in these debates isn't working. All this is making Ron the center of attention and it doesn't really matter what questions he gets or how many. It only takes a couple shining moments that can crack a rib and that is exactly the window of opportunity they gave Ron tonight which was his rebuttal of Chris Matthews and the exchange with the Huckster. These dinks are helping us so send them e-mails thanking them for it.
Sure... Thanks for nothing!
Hi Big Media!
Thanks for your UNfair and VERY biased reporting!
Thanks for working so hard to convince the masses that Ron Paul isn't a serious contender.
Thanks for NOT reporting the important news, while filling up the airwaves with fluff and distractions, so Americans don't even know how corrupt their government REALLY IS.
Thanks for always giving the CFR-approved message.
Yeah...
Thanks for nothing!
We need to let Big Media know we won't stand for it
We MUST LET THE BIG MEDIA KNOW that they are losing their audience.
Take a few minutes and contact them and let them know how you feel!
Here's where to go for a start:
Fox News:

(If that link won't work, go to http://www.foxnews.com/ and click the "Contact Us" link on the bottom of the page, or email:

CNN:

----------------------------------
FYI:
Here's the message I sent to CNN - with a copy of the message I sent to Fox News quoted within it:
Stop ignoring Ron Paul!
For instance: On Lou Dobbs' Wednesday show...
"begin quote"
TUCKER: Ah, but the visas are not awarded on the basis of degree held or qualification. They're awarded in a completely random lottery. In other words, the luckiest wins the visa.
And, Lou, of all the major candidates that we contacted today, Edwards was the only one who called us back to issue us a clarification.
And the only candidate that we know of who is absolutely opposed to the H1-B visa program being expanded is Tom Tancredo out of the Congress.
"end quote"
I'm certain the Ron Paul campaign wasn't contacted about this. If they had, there would have been no doubt that Ron Paul is "absolutely opposed to the H1-B visa program being expanded."
After the terrible way Fox News treated Ron Paul tonight, I sent them this letter. You may find it interesting:
"message begins"
To: speakout@foxnews.com
date: Sep 5, 2007 10:48 PM
subject: Fox treats Ron Paul unfairly
OK, Fox News...
I'm not going to put up with your bias anymore. As of tomorrow morning, I'm UN-programming the Fox News channel from my TV receiver.
If I hear that you've changed your ways, I'll give you another chance.
Goodbye and good riddance, Fox News.
Bruce Arnold

"message ends"
Lou Dobbs makes a lot of noise about standing up for what he says is important in the U.S. - The Middle Class / Border Security / the Foreign Policy mess / etc...
Ron Paul is the only candidate that actually follows the law... The U.S. Constitution. He has an impeccable track record. He is more in line with what Lou "preaches" every day - yet Lou rarely ever mentions him. (He finds plenty of time to talk about all the other candidates, though.)
So while I'm not ready to give up on the Lou Dobbs program entirely (I usually watch it every day) - I am going to do this:
My 'Tivo' still records the program for me. I won't bother to watch it "live" anymore.
After the program airs, I'll log on to the CNN site and do a quick word search for "Ron Paul" on the day's episode transcript.
If there's no mention of Ron Paul, then I'll just delete the show without ever watching it.
If too many days go by without even one serious mention of Ron Paul, then I'll just stop watching the show entirely.
I'm serious and I'm ready to do this. The "big" media has treated Ron Paul extremely unfairly for too long. Yes, I do know why this is, and I don't expect a zebra to change its stripes... Ron Paul will bring about real change to the U.S. - for the better - BUT you like things just the way they are, don't you?
But if you won't give Ron Paul a fair chance, then I'll UN-Program CNN just like I did to Fox News a couple of hours ago.
Ready to lose yet another viewer?
Sincerely,
Bruce Arnold
Take a look at their autoresponse when you send...
It's basically a Fred! ad with lots of pretty pictures. "Fair and balanced!" sounds funnier and funnier these days...

Why attack a 1-3% Candidate?
When I was first watching the "debate" I was starting to get down. I could see that the "lower tier" candidates were definitely getting less time to speak, especially Ron Paul, Tancredo, and Brownback. Then the moderators were misconstruing and mis-quoting Dr. Paul and I started to get energized:
- "Do we take our marching orders from Al Qaida?"
- "No, I take my marching orders from the constitution! "
Not to mention the laughing from Guiliani and the moderators when someone even mentioned Ron Paul's name. The question is: "If Ron Paul is just getting 1-3% in the polls, why was he being head-hunted?" Can you imagine Kucinich or Gravel getting attacked like this from the moderators and being laughed at by Hillary Clinton? These suckers are really going to learn what blowback is when this fundraising quarter is over and Ron takes an even bigger lead in searches on the web and such. They have awakened a sleeping giant...
Ron Paul handles bullies well
The attack-questions work the best for Congressman Paul. He knows how to respond to them and they only help him.
That's why politicians know they need to ignore him as much as they can. Refusing to argue with him is their only hope (after what happened with Giuliani).
Thank goodness these moderators either take pot shots (thinking he's an easy target) or pitch him some hardballs. I wondered if Stephanopolous did so on purpose -- it can be a sign of respect. At any rate, they can't possibly think Dr. Paul is easily discouraged!
IMissLiberty
Good call! It actually COULD
Good call! It actually COULD be a sign of respect. I must keep this in mind. It's something to think about. I have noticed that when arguing Dr. Paul, it's almost impossible to do so from a logical standpoint. Name calling and slander is the order of the day. Since he constantly refers to the Constitution, the supreme law of the land, you must either fall in line and support his position or.....well, what? If you look at the Federal Government from a strictly legal standpoint and accept your oath of office to uphold the Constitution, then where does that leave you when talking about such things as undeclared wars, warrantless wiretapping, the TSA, the DEA, and so on ad infinitum? So, what it boils down to is this: as citizens, we have a right to advocate Socialism, Communism, Fascism, and any other dang -ism we please. It's our right. BUT, as a Congressperson, or a Presidential Candidate, you do NOT have that right. You simply must follow the law, regardless of your own personal feelings, and you can argue that at your own peril. AND...he law is the Constitution.
www.paulforronpaul.com
Stephanopolous is a CFR hack
George Stephanopolous didn't give Dr. Paul such a disrespectful interview out of respect. Oh no. Don't give George "CFR" Stephanopolous any credit.
It wasn't hard to predict...
It wasn't hard to predict that the world's most renowned propaganda outfit would try to skew the debate against RP. Even here in Australia we've all heard of Fox News - and what it stands for.
Unfair moderation
Can you believe that question "so you want to follow orders from the enemy". Can you imagine him asking that at a Democratic debate, where most of them are for pulling out? That was a blatant attack on Ron Paul which he knew he would only get away with in front of the sympathetic pro-war GOP audience.
You think you are angry now?
You will even be more angry after I file my story of the experiences in the focus group...

I'm going to post a very nice little encounter I had last night before the debate; it'll be my first blog entry here, I think. It ought to cheer some folks up. I'll do that in a few minutes.

a significant, subtle change?
did anyone else notice the last few questions to Dr. Paul from Mr. Colmes tonight? No longer -"you know you are not going to win", "what are you trying to do in this race", "what do you hope to accomplish in this campaign" - but NOW: "how do you plan on winning the nomination". Finally, they are starting to understand that Dr. Paul has a real chance to win this thing.
God bless America -
God bless Dr. Paul -
Good observation
Good points also.
No, I didn't notice that!
No, I didn't notice that! But, of course, the dang debate wasn't broadcast where I live. Thanks for this, though. Nice catch. I can't WAIT to see what kinda stuff is posted here by the time I wake up!

MSM's take
All the media is saying that McCain won! Now who am I supposed to believe?
The R3VOLution will be YouTubed!!!
RON WON!!!!
Ron really won big time but the media will never admit to it or give him the credit he deserves. I have lost total respect for Fox News, especially Sean Hannibal. Ron was really on the ball last night with Alan and really with Sean. Mc Cain only got 14 percent of the votes but Ron got 33 percent. Go Ron Go!!!

Ha ha, I love your name, El Kabong. Man, I haven't seen him in decades.
poll results
FOX posted their results under the headline, something like 'poll winner' with a '?' after it since of course RP was winning.
Question Totals
Here are the total number of times each candidate was asked a question. I have placed them in order of appearance on stage from left to right. Obviously they placed Guiliani and Romney in the center.
Trancredo - 4
Paul - 5 (and one follow-up, and the Huckabee exchange)
Huckabee - 5 (and the Paul exchange)
Guiliani - 9
Romney - 9
McCain - 8 (and one follow-up)
Brownback - 6 (and one follow-up)
Hunter - 5 (and one follow-up)

Overall, I believe Congressman Paul did a GREAT job fielding the questions and the Huckabee exchange. Also, I think he did wonderfully with Hannity.
Just my 2c
Congratulations Dr. Paul
I wouldn't bother with Freedom watch though....
We know what they're about!
I too was disappointed....
I too was disappointed with the amount of time they gave Dr Paul. Thank God for TiVo... lol....
At least he used the time he had to make his point resonate. He was very loud, very in-your-face, very passionate... and I Loved It!
The Foreign Policy issue was the main issue, and Paul did a good job of explaining the situation in a costintuation, legal manner. I wish he would have made a response to the comment that we need "a long term presence" in the middle east... I would have pointed out that a long term presence is what has gotten us here in the first place!
Oh, and I just got back from my very first Ron Paul meetup. It was GREAT to actually be in a room of 12 other Liberty Lovers all working together in our little area to get people informed. If you haven't done it yet, I highly recommend it!
Boycott the advertiser
Maybe we should organize some kind of a letter / email campaign against the advertisers. I have both a CD and saving account with E-Loan. I will call them and I will be pissssssss. But I should be writing to the other company as well.
Hey, you might be onto something!
That's how Imus was brought down!
Wow. All I got to say.
Man, I've stuck up for Fox News being conservative leaning in the news because they just were playing to a market, and I still think they focus on what they think conservative just to fill a void.
But HOLY COW, could they be more rude? I thought George Stephanopolus was rude, but this was a whole new level. Allowing Rudy's snickering on an open mic. Twisting Ron Paul's leave Iraq message into a caving to Al Qaeda? Obviously that question was written earlier and they were just waiting to unleash it. Hannity is a tool.
Is it crazy to think that someone in Fox News programming realize their moderators are asses? Yeah, I guess it is. They still have their loyal following of ignorant people pumping their fists everytime someone says "we are strong and will be victorious!"
Sheesh. Most painful debate to watch EVER!

Fox New Hampshire Debate
Once again Ron Paul wins hands down! With every debate RP continues to improve while the others languish. His verbal exchange with Huckabee shows that the others are now starting to focus and go after RP. Some are also are beginning to refer to the constitution with greater frequency. We are now beginning to see the fruits of our labor come to a closer realism.
Thank God for such a great man leading our cause for liberty and freedom.
This whole debate was a hit
This whole debate was a hit job on Dr. Paul. And I'm not just being partial to Dr. Paul. The fact that it was a hit job just goes to show how much afraid they are of him and the grassroots support thats. growing every day Dr. Paul has. I just re-focused my intensity to elect Dr. Paul. We've got to beat these Neo-Cons.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs.

yes, it was a hit, and they are copying him
That they are both (a) attacking him and (b) copying him is nothing short of crystal-clear proof that we're right: he's the best, hands down. They all know it, but can't say it.
I almost feel sorry for them.

The funniest thing...
Was Fox News treating John McCain of all people as a fiscal conservative. In anything but rhetoric, he's exactly the opposite.
