The YouTube Factor
In the past week, YouTube viewership of Ron Paul videos has increased by about 600% and is accelerating.
TechPresident tracks the numbers, updated daily. Here are the current stats:

The Washington Post's Jeff Jarvis highlights Ron Paul's performance.

These Numbers Must be Bunk
I agree, I'm blown away at Mitt Romney being #1, that's almost a milion views a day for a month? Obama didn't even get those numbers - his YouTube 1984 Ad racked in about 2 million viewers, that's apparently 3 days of Mitt Romney's Numbers.
Furthermore, lately all of Ron Paul's video "view numbers" have been getting stuck for days at 218, 202, etc. I've emailed press@youtube.com and explained that their system is apparently broken. These are mostly videos off the VoteRonPaul2008 Channel.
I believe Ron Paul's numbers are shooting up, I don't believe McCain and Romney are that high though, that's rediculous. Unless its videos of "BomB BomB Iran" ...
Its all suspect at this point.
The numbers aren't bunk, BUT...
The numbers for Mitt are valid but he is up there for a reason.
Youtube started a "Spotlight" channel. If you look back on the chart here:
http://www.techpresident....
Mitt surged from 170k to 700k as direct result of being "Spotlighted".
If you look at the bottom chart it shows the dramatic affect on the numbers for the candidates when the are spotlighted. Ron Paul has not been spotlighted,
yet.
Also, Ron Pauls channel hasn't really given us much meat, especially early on in the campaign, the vast majority of Ron Paul videos are uploaded by supporters instead of the campaign page.
I like the subscriber numbers. 12203, his closest competitor Obama:6001, despite Obama having 40 more videos and in existance for 6 more months.
Lets just face it. Ron Paul is without a doubt the most Popular Candidate (on the internet) from either party. There is no reason to believe that same level of popularity could not translate to the streets.
On Mitt Romney
I'm sure Mitt Romney's high numbers on YouTube are due to being LDS, or a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as Mormons. They are a very loyal, tight knit church. They have literally been waiting generations for a Mormon to become President. It was prophesied long ago that a Mormon would rise to power and save the U.S. in a time of great crisis. Most of them probably view Mitt as a fulfillment of that prophecy.
Just a guess.
Also, does anyone else use Yahoo email? I just noticed Yahoo is filtering out Ron Paul subject lines in my email as spam, which upsets me.
Mormons
ah, good point, i can see that. Luckily, Mormons are only a majority in one state :)
Not all Mormons will vote for Romney
Just wanted to give my 2 cents. I am a "Mormon" (Latter-day Saint), and I recently created a blog called Latter-day Saints for Ron Paul (http://lds4ronpaul.blogsp...). There are a lot of us out there who don't support Romney (just google LDS Ron Paul and you'll see website after website of Mormons who are in support of Ron Paul over Romney). Ron Paul's message and political record are much more in-line with most conservative Latter-day Saints' beliefs about the Constitution and the role of government. Romney may be Mormon, but not all Mormons will blindly vote for him. If I have anything to do with it, I'll be working to convert as many Mormons as I can to Ron Paul's cause.

The first question that pops
The first question that pops into my mind is, "Mitt Romney?", are you kidding me?
The second question is this, - does this study include only the videos at Ron Paul's YouTube account, or any and all YouTube videos on the subject of Ron Paul? I expect it's the former. I am amazed at how many people are self-producing videos about Dr. Paul, or posting his every spoken word be it on TV or the floors of Congress. Were all of these to be included, his numbers would be much higher.

re: Mitt Romney?
The women can imagine having Mitt's baby, like Bill Clinton. The fact that they may have to be is 2nd or 3rd wife, they can get over. But, they expect Dr. Paul to deliver that baby. If Ron Paul looked like Brad Pitt, we'd be all set...
SUPPORT THE TROOPS
An Iraq war veteran discusses the topic of the pro-war slogan, "Support the Troops". He makes a compelling argument debunking the notion that supporting the troops means deploying them in Iraq for as long as possible.
